I am comparing royal enfield interceptor 650 cc motorcycle, one among #RoyalEnfieldTwins & new entry in 2018 as a twin engine from Royal enfield with my continental GT.
Royal enfield Twins are exciting. Launched in #2018 they will be the #PureMotorcycling fun! Lets wait for #Interceptor650 #ContinentalGT650 and let's #RidePure. This is among the classic and old school style motorcycles in India. A beefed up version of the re continental gt with 650 engine and brakes with ABS. Royal enfield continental gt 650 and royal enfield interceptor 650 are the two new entrants in the medium price bracket. Though interceptor is announced in 2017 but will be available only by 2018 in India.
The royal enfield interceptor twin looks almost alike my custom build of continental gt. Do watch my previous video on the brat style motorcycles and you will understand. Lets discuss what advantages old continental gt 535 cc owners have with the launch of new royal enfield interceptor in India.
The 750 cc royal enfield contiental gt was assumed by people after seeing the testing versions of 650 cc royal enfield. From the first impressions the RE interceptor 650 looks gorgeous and interesting. I would like to try the seat, handlebar and may be tyre's of the new interceptor on my 535 gt.

The motorcycle I show is my modified version that looks identical to new interceptor and this was done way before royal enfield came out with a bike,

I have been watching your videos for sometime now and I like the way you have explained the new royal enfield bike. I think this will be released in later parts of 2018 in india. The 650 cc engine seems to be interesting! Your modification except a fe mods looks like the interceptor, yes.

we haven't tried the new interceptor but I think some changes would be there with respect to the engine modifications. I do not know whether it will be better than the old royal enfield's interceptor but I hope it would be better than other royal enfield motorcycles. Thanks for subscribing. Hi Abhilash, I am fond of royal enfield motorbikes from the time when my father would use them. Now my husband owns one. We use it very rarely as most of the travel is in the car. But whenever we plan for a short weekend ride we use our bullet. Your comparison was good. I enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work; as a RE enthusiast I will stay focused for your updates. Abhilash Pillai Hi they said it was expected to be released in Oct/2018. I own a Vrod but live in Manhattan which is full of traffic and so am looking for a small "ride in town" bike Which is small and easy to manuvre in city streets and traffic, and one I can teach my girl friend on how to ride so the intercepter 650 looks like a very good deal! Especially it will be under 7 thousand! Btw where is that ariel shot taken? Very beautiful place

Thanks Andrew, do post the video when you have a chance to ride one of the interceptors. The aerial shot was taken in southern part of India in the state of Kerala. This is the sholayaar forest ranges in kerala. The shot was completely taken in this forest.

The realiability of re is serious nowadays with bikes stopping on roads and this issue is why most of us re fans are not getting into re the 650 will be heavily priced tag itts no no for indian roads and traffic and with minimalist look it wont take root into indian market the exhaust note that peopl loved is mute now wtf is remaining in bike to buy.

I think they will release this in late 2018. The initial release would be in 2018 outside India.

A 4 stroke engine must complete 2 revolutions, ie: 720 degrees to complete it's 4 cycles in all cylinders. The similarity of a parallel twin with 270 degree crank and a 90 degree V Twin is in their power pulses. After the first cylinder fires the crankshaft rotates 270 degrees and then the second cylinder fires, then the crankshaft rotates another 450 degrees to return to the first cylinder's TDC of it's next power pulse, adding up to 720 degrees for the required 2 revolutions of the crankshaft whereas a parallel twin with a 360 degree crankshaft has even 360 degree power pulses as the pistons rise and fall together but fire on alternate strokes and it's this difference between power pulses that give engines their characteristic sound and feel. The advantage of a 270 parallel twin is to minimise vibration because one piston is stationary while the other is at maximum velocity which gives perfect primary balance whereas a 360 crank has inherent vibration issues because both pistons are rising and falling together.

I feel once the GT650 is launched, GT535 may be phased out eventually due to low sales. There will definitely be a big price gap, but for that ul get a much smoother engine and better power and hopefully better quality too. I personally am looking forward to the interceptor than GT. And yes i am damn excited myself :D

Abhilash Pillai Key will be pricing. If they screw that up then its difficult. they cant price it close to street 750, thats a bigger and much better built bike. they will have price it between to rc390 and ninja300

Hi, it looks like u have changed your GTs handlebar. It is looking very comfy, I have also changed my GTs handlebar, i have replaced clip ons with Himalayan handlebar, but vibrations are too much and riding position is not very comfy but better than on clip ons. Which handlebar u r using.

Thanks Prasad for the comments. I am using a custom made handlebar twisted at the ends towards the rider. The himalayan handlebar was not comfortable for continental GT and I met with an accident due to it. This is one of the best handlebars I have used yet, even better than KTM handlebars. Lets wait for the new interceptor to launch and then we can use that. Whats your take on the new interceptor.

Royal enfield's 650 cc engine is not a V twin technically but it is a single piece forged 270 degree crank engine with two cylinders. The engine gets a 270 degree firing order, which mimics a V-twin engine.

Interceptor 650 is a remake of the old royal Enfield interceptor. Yes it might be using the make and chasis of new continental GT but the concept is old.

Which one would you purchase Abhi.. interceptor seems to be your choice isnt it. I can make that out from the modifications you made on GT. Really man! you were the first to have published a video from India with a genuine and better looking handlebar modification. the other videos on handlebar change were pretty ugly with the long clamps. I personally did not like the one done by #ridewithraj looks very ugly at the fittings.

Hey Vishnu, thanks for the comment. Yes Cafe racers are good for long rides on highways and on curvy roads where traffic is less or not too close to halt frequently. For city commuting they are pain in the A** The new 650 cc is expected to be worth touring so go for it. If you want rather just a tourer plus city commuter, go for the interceptor 650

HONESTLY GT650 Looks more better! But because of the riding style Interceptor is best!!. i am waiting 4 it! I hope the pricing should be around 3 lakhs so people can afford it! ..new 650 twin Engine is very impressive especially that Exhaust note! I am sure people will forget Dug Dug sound after hearing new 650's sound!

royal is just the name.. everything, every single part always inferior to every other bike companies in india.. my dislike is bot for the video, for royal Enfield.. thank god I once and for all got rid of my classic 350 to switch to gixxer 150.. n now m a proud owner of 150 cc bike which even accelerates much much faster than the so cold royal..

Abhilash Pillai You can't give the comparison between a BMW and Maruti... Also compare the cost factor. You'll get a cheaper 150cc bike at almost the same price delivering more power and acceleration. But, Royal Enfield has its own charm. It's a different breed of bikes.

Sorry Sourav, not sure what you are talking about. There is no BMW and Maruti... it is RE VS RE.I am comparing a 535 cc RE bike which looks alike the 650 cc RE bike. Where does the 150 cc bike come in this whole context and where in this sweet world do you get a 150cc at the pricing of 2.5 lakhs(535 cc RE) ? RE GT is way far powerful that you would have seen or thought about. Do ride it buddy to experience the power. ... and Man "But, Royal Enfield has its own charm. It's a different breed of bikes." why did you say this.... seemed like you were in love with 150cc bikes in one context and then you skipped to being a RE lover. Abhilash Pillai Hey Man... No harsh feelings against RE. The main thing here is about what people want. Some look for speed... Some look for comfort. RE is a kind of bike which hates revving xD... It's the long cruiser kind of bikes. So, I like Royal Enfield for its low end torque. But, I also like the 150cc segment bikes for its speed(cause of high CR). But... It sure is true that RE gives you a different feeling while riding it. And comparing other bikes with RE would just be a lame thought. It would be like comparing an SUV with a Lambo. All I wanted to say is that I have my own likes and dislikes for RE. But no hatred for it :D But, you have to agree, RE should really work on its build quality and technology xD
