Am I more bisexual or pansexual? | here’s my take on it…

In this video I debate whether I’m closer to bisexual or pansexual. For multisexual people like us, it can be difficult to know which label you identify closest with so I wanted to share my personal take.
I identify with both bisexual and pansexual but there are different situations where I will use one or the other. In this video I explain why and how that works.
Are you figuring out whether you are more bisexual or pansexual? You’re not alone. Come join us at @notdefining where we delve into all these issues and much more.

This channel was a big part in me finding out and embracing the fact I was bi. I always told myself I was straight and I kept putting off my attraction to men. Now I fully embrace it so I guess what I want to say is thanks!

I really wanted to thank you for this video. It was really interesting for me, expecially because I'm a teenager struggling with my sexuality and is not that easy to define myself. I'm always surprised that some people don't even know what bisexuality is, as you said, and I'm really sorry that you felt hurt because of explaining it to them. I just have a question: could you give a description of being queer please? Because people have lot of differents thoughts about that and I would totally like to know your point of view. So thanks, and keep being yourself! With love, from Italy 🏳‍🌈 (You earned a suscriber... and I LOVE your nails! ❤)

Wow !!! You are awesome! 🔥 You don't have to squash yourself into a form of or for approval, so someone else can avoid their discomfort!

💯💯💯 thank you for this. I identify as bi/pan/queer. I think of bi as an umbrella term for all identities attracted to 2 or more genders (pan, omni, poly, etc). I identify as bi in straight spaces because it’s most well known. I identify as queer is lgbtq+ spaces when I’m scared there will be biphobia. And I use pan only in safe spaces.

Hi Mark. I love your videos. May you please do a video on what not to say to a non-binary Bisexual/Pansexual person. Thanks

Thank you for humanizing all of this. I have found Manu different types of people sexualy attractive. No matter what they called themselves or what others called them. I've been sexual attracted to drag queens too. I've always just been attracted to what I'm attracted to. 🤷‍♀️

So true. I identify as bisexual, but I think I might actually be more pan. But I just don’t want the headache of constantly having to explain what it is or be invalidated. So I use Bi as it is more common and understood, and I’m comfortable using that label. But in truth, I identify as bi/pan/queer and everything in between. Great video💜

pardon the intrusion, but isn't that BI {liking both men & women}? And liking other genders along with and besides would be Pan or something else?

2:09 That's interesting. Because for asexuality, which is seen as invisible by many, you do everything you can to make people aware of it. But I guess you don't really see pansexual being that different from bisexual - to make a big deal about it. I think some people will disagree with you here, since they are very prominent that they are pansexual - and it includes not just being attracted to the male and female sexes, but also other humans, such as trans or the third gender, for example - and they make a big deal that that is more inclusive - hence pansexual.

In general I love people and I'm not so interessted in labels and boxes. As for myself I'm fluid (in-between bisexual and omnisexual). And just as Mark said, if the other person has a problem with it, it's their problem and this person is not for me.

Hey thanks for this beautiful and empowering message. I’m also between bi and omni. Snap! I love your energy. It is indeed their problem and not ours. Sending big love and thanks for being here. Mark x

Bisexual is homosexual and heterosexual attraction- to genders the same as mine, and genders different from my own, covering the spectrum of gender. People decided we didn't include trans or nonbinary, and we have always included them. I'm nonbinary and bisexual, and it's so tiring having to explain, nah, never cared about gender. It's in our whole manifesto. I've fought for most of my life to be called bisexual, not lesbian or hetero. People should 100% go with the label they're comfortable with. I will never tell another person what to call themself. That being said, it's hella frustrating being told I'm Pan, and that I have to use that label. I get it every Pride, and have been incorrectly corrected on my own sexuality, and it's incredibly frustrating. Also, I strongly dislike the flag for Pan because of yellow, but I dislike the nonbinary flag for the same reason lol. It's the same reason I eat yellow M&Ms last. It makes no sense and has no reason other than that. I get why people like it, as the colors should inspire cheer.

Interesting. I also have some issue w/yellow. Although i do wear some yellow T-shirts sometimes. In jewelry i don't like gold, reminds me of urine😂I prefer platinum😍

Hear hear!! To myself bisexual never meant either or but everything, if there is an attraction between us we'll see where it goes. I was sexually abused as a teen by a teacher who claimed to be bisexual, as he abused me I'd either think of his niece or one of the boys at the small male boarding high school. On my own after high school I'd go back and forth between "straight" and "gay" as to accept bisexual would mean I was like him. Married 45 years now, 11 years ago I finialy told about being abused and dealing with with it then several years ago I felt comfortable with reclaiming bisexual as a description for myself. Pan I could never get my head around as it was trying to be another word that just describes bisexual as so many of us had always understood bisexual to mean. I now understand that he was using the label of bisexual as a cover for what he really was - btw, the abuse started awhile after I had a serious concussion that took away my ability to read, 10 years to teach myself to read and retain again at a university level.

@@chriscohlmeyer4735 Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I also have an abuse history, early childhood genital assault rather than molestation. I could use feedback on a deeply personal matter🦧

@@chriscohlmeyer4735 Thanks i'll try. I'm interested in your gut response. I'm old, 70. 'Twas a long painful slow recovery. In my violent nuclear family, i took hits all over the bod, up n down, front n back. At 10 months old, family outing, its ok to laugh, i pissed on my older sis, of course accidently, nobody warned her ya gotta watch out for baby boys. She clocked me, a punch in the nuts that left partial castration left testicle. I became expert in numbing pain, through episodes of testicular tortion. Doctor noticed but ignored. Finally in college 20 years later repaired surgically. Myriad sexual dysfunctions: in erections i'm normal. But ability to climax is severely impaired, either it doesn't happen at all, or it's delayed and feeble. Curiously, the delay was a joy for women, who made me feel cherished for not climaxing too soon. I do NOT understand women, but it was beautiful to experience the slowness of the female response. However, for men n women both, my dysfunction caused them to feel like a failure, unable to please me. I never "came out" as anything. How does a person "come out" as anything when they're sexually killed. I don't seek pity, (which doesn't help) I seek tools. I resigned from dating years ago. Once in a while I see erotic bodyworkers (male). Can't say i'm asexual, cuz i'm obsessed. Phew, glad i'm old

Bisexual as in both homo and hetero, same and different, human sexual dimorphism, man and women. That's what it meant when I was a teenager and thats what I'm familiar with, I identify as demibisexual.
