It is DISGUSTING that banks can do this, we should and have to RESIST a 'cashless' society at ALL COSTS.

In Canada they froze truck drivers banks accounts and also the accounts of anybody who supported them...now something similar is happening in the UK. It's a warning to all of us why cash must always remain as an option to keep our financial freedom.

I think it's a little disrespectful to call Farage an "amateur" broadcaster. It's his job, he is paid for it, his show is wildly successful, at times beating out BBC News and Sky, and he just won best news presenter at the TRIC awards. It's not like he's doing an unpaid voluntary hospital radio show at the weekends or something.

The real question to ask here is who was putting pressure on the bank to remove his account? Do we really believe the bank… on it’s own… decided to remove money and business and create an uproar in the media? Or would the bank prefer to continue to lay dormant in the background and just be a bank? Who forced their hand? That’s the real question to ask.

Piers: The banks are working on behalf of the government to suppress protests they don’t like. Grace: So let’s let the government run the banks. That will fix the problem!

Yes businesses have the right to decline business however - has the bank ever accepted any type of assistance from the gov't? - evidently 4 or 5 other banks have refused him the ability to open an acct. -if one bank declaire him customer non grata & other banks decline him service, how is that not systematically organized ?

"The market doesn't guarantee free speech" - that is exactly the issue that everyone is talking about, so why the argument? Banks ending people's accounts due to their views is a completely new thing brought in through their association with Stonewall and other activist groups. Politics should not be used as an excuse to close accounts. I think the banks know this, which is why they were so reluctant to provide the reason for the closure.

Banks should be required by law to clearly advertise their beliefs, values and purpose. That way the customer can choose a bank that is most closely aligned to their own belief system. Most Brits are right of center, so one would think that most banks should be too. Clearly the left wing extremist banks ARE happy to have right wing customers - else they'd go bust.

It should nowadays be a human right to save and spend your own money in SAFETY via a bank. We were told often enough NOT to keep cash under the mattress and nowadays it would have to be THOUSANDS of pounds being stored away - not a viable proposition. Banks are literally cutting off life-lines with no RNLI to the rescue!

Piers you should check into the Canadian, who was part of the trucker convoy, that Scotiabank just pushed out. He was.called and told his business was being moved out. He had a mortgage there. He had his life savings there and had been a client for approx. 30 years. He wasn't given a reason!

A bank is a private company, they have their own policies so technically they’re allowed to do this. But I do believe it should be a legal right for a person to have a bank account in the same way a person should have a citizenship. Not because it fixes Nigel’s problem but because it’s nearly impossible to do anything in life without a bank account. More often than not, it’s an essential requirement to be paid, to do transactions, for proof of address etc. So instead of a bank just shutting down someone’s account, they should transfer it to another bank or building society before shutting their account so at least they have AT LEAST ONE bank account so they can still carry on with normal life Most people aren’t aware that banks are private sector businesses - their goal is to make a profit they don’t care about your feelings. So I agree that the bank can do this legally and morally even if it is harsh to suddenly shut him out. However, the law should ensure everyone has the right to have at least ONE bank account so they can do transactions because what if EVERY bank did this to someone? How could they even live? They’d be resorted to working for employers who pay cash
