AM2 and/or AM2S Revision/Preparation Training Online - Sample - Central Heating / Sustainable Energy Control Circuit - www.xstraining.com/online-am2...
Thanks for this video much appreciated, one tip we were given is to wire up/and 2nd fix the pre wired circuits first to reduce confusion when coming to 2nd fix
That is one of the main reasons we created them. You still need to be competent to pass the exam, but having the nerves settled is really important for you to show your skills and be successful.
@@pvegod1484 it was put off for a year, it’s booked for the 5th of December. I’ve just done their online course for preparation I couldn’t recommend it more, it costs £100 but my employer got me it. Hopefully I’ll pass I am pretty confident!
Exactly what type of heating system will I be required to work on please? I was told it isn't a honeywell S plan so I don't have a clue what model I should be using to practice on
Hi .Great videos 😃👍just bought Am2 preparation course from you. Could you tell me how many cores does your flex have from the solar controller to main control box please? From the video looks like you are using 3cores (L,N,E). What about connection between R2- in the solar controller and no16 in the main control box? Thank you for your help.much appreciated
Hi Monika, thanks for purchasing the AM2 Preparation course and thank you too for bringing this to our attention. Yes, a 4 core is required due to a change in spec and we will update the video in the course as soon as we possibly can. Many thanks once again Monika, much appreciated.
Hi Samuel, Thank for the comment. This will be stated on the diagrams given to you before you install the circuit. This is commonly 1.0mm but always read the specification beforehand.
Hi, If you are doing the AM2 all the containment is already installed for you. If you are doing the AM2E then you need to install the PVC and Metal conduit only.
Hi Joel apologies for the delayed response... Yes, there will be a wiring diagram to hand in the AM2 for the learner to follow step by step. Happy New Year and all the best for your AM2 when you come t take it!
Regarding fuse size for switch fuse spur- My specification didn't specify BUT it does say to the BS7671 Wirings Regulations, so if you read Reg 553.1.5 (i) it states "the connection of an eletric clock, provided that the plug and socket-outlet are designed specifically for that purpose, and that each plug incorporates a fuse of rating not exceeding 3 amperes complying with BS 646 or BS 1362 as appropriate." Obviously the programmer has an eletric clock so I took it that you need to use a 3AMP fuse. I found this after the exam but put a 3AMP fuse in cos I honestly couldn't sleep as I was pretty pissed off lol.
@@adventuresofanathan Thank you for our comment. Congratulations on now being a fully qualified electrician and we wish you all the best for the future.
What are the conductor colours for the pre wired values. Are they like the drawing. Grey and orange for the contact and brown blue and green/yellow for the supply to the valves?
@@johanburger6109 I’m sorry I don’t quite understand your question. I presume your talking about if you would have to extend the prewired cable (via junction box or similar). In this situation, I’d just use a standard 5 core cable ( Brown, blue, green/yellow, black, grey) And just use brown sleeving on black and grey.
@@epicell1711 yeah that's it. You cleared it up. I only asked because I recently did the AM2 and passed but I noticed wire colours in that assessment weren't orange. Thanks for clearing that up. I immigrated to the UK only recently so haven't grasped the colours yet besides 3 phase and single phase. Colours were a little different in South Africa
Hi, it all depends on the centre you do the AM2 at. This link could already be in or you may need to add it yourself. It does however need to be there.
Hi. Unlike the link of Line to terminal 2 in the timer there is no need to do this for terminal 4. The live feed to 4 comes from elsewhere in the system (the room stat). The drawing in the video shows this but I do appreciate that you'll have to 'pause' it to see it properly.
Hello mate, I dont know the answer personally, but hopefully the wattage or amp value would be given, telling us what fuse to use in the moment, hope ive helped

Hi Mike, Thank you for your comment. I am not too sure what it is that you are trying to say in the message above. However, if you have any issues you would like to discuss please send us an email to enquiries@xstraining.com
@@XSTrainingLtd nothing that your doing wrong it’s a typical domestic heating set up and diagram - if you had an industrial control system with diagrams like that it would be a complete nightmare
@@miketucker7466 Hi Mike, as you have highlighted above this diagram is quite difficult to work from but similar to what the learner will be working from in their AM2. Hopefully this will give others a chance to understand such documentation before the exam, therefore alleviating the pressure.
You don't, if you wire them up on a regular basis. Most commercial/industrial sparks wont have touched these circuits. A diagram is always helpful in this situation.
