Welcome to our Sorrento Covid Guide.
This is our first holiday since lockdown lifted and our first ever RU-vid travel Vlog.😁
In August this year we set off on our first travels abroad in over a year. We travelled to the beautiful Amalfi coast and stayed in Sorrento. We have tried to give you as much information about travelling to the Amalfi coast during covid and what Sorrento and Positano is like.
The Vlog starts flying into Naples airport and then takes you with us throughout our week away based in Sorrento.

We have been there twice. We loved this town and the Amalfi Coast! I have family in the hills above the coast. Both trips were awesome!

@@danandmarissa would love to go back. Given the choice of Hawaii and Sorrento, Sorrento wins hands down! Connecting with cousins on Dad’s side was so heart warming. We keep in touch with technology. Oh, how dad and his brother who came to America, would have loved the technology to talk with brother who stayed in Italy.

We would love nothing more right now than to be back at that amazing hotel. It would be great to see it up and running in full swing rather than 40% like when we were there. Hope you manage to get back soon enough Augus.

Hi Crystal, We found it was a great time to travel once the restrictions were lifted. Everywhere was quiet and we had an overall better experience! We have never been Sicily but it’s now on our radar. Take care 🙂

hey guys just back from Sorrento were i went solo you influenced me to treat myself to the Sky bar brilliant. I went to Ravello to visit the Villa Cimbrone and the gardens .I spent a day at Marina Grande at its small beach ,did yous enjoy eating a the Marina area I should of eaten there ,DaN I'd like to share 😀 with you the find of my holiday it's a restaurant called La Cantannacia .they que from 6 .30 till close to 11pm to get in for food. On the down side you have to travel to Naples for a McDonald's

Hiya Alan, Thanks so much for your lovely comment! Glad you enjoyed the sky bar as much as us, Marissa was really excited to go there. Did you get a good sunset? We only went to the marina beach later on in the afternoon but we enjoyed eating there at night time it was lovely! I’m glad you recommended La Cantannacia, we struggle to find good Italian food in sorrento unfortunately, so next time we go we’ll look out for this one. If not always to McDonald’s to fall back on 😂 Thanks again Alan!

Hi Andy and Leanne, Just used our phone for the videos. We’ve bought a mirrorless for when we finally get out of lockdown and get away again. Hope your both well. We have subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing you grow. All the best going forward 😀

I’m actually going to Italy August 9-21 and was concerned when I found out about august 15th

It’s nothing to be concerned about, it makes being in Tourist areas so much better, well that’s what we found. When we went the general amount of foreign tourist was really low so being on holiday with all the Italians made it so much better. Only advice would be maybe just to book a few places or if your going Sorrento book a spot on the beach if that’s your kind of thing. 😊

We think your going to have a fantastic time Neill. We had breakfast included in our stay and the food was brilliant, the buffet was served to you and the cooked options were all freshly made and bought to your table. The hotel itself was beautiful and the views were stunning. It was just a shame how quiet it was in the main bar at night. I think things will probably have picked up by now. We would go back to that hotel without a shadow of a doubt. Have a great holiday. 🙂

€22 for a sun bed gone up €6 since I was there it worked out £27 pounds for a couple.lovley place sorrento.

Hey guys in your travel journey yous visited the meditaraneo vista sky bar .I'm going to Sorrento this year and I'd love to visit the sky bar .I'm staying at a smaller cheaper hotel do you think I can go there like yous did for Dan's Birthday

Hi Alan, Yes absolutely. We just booked a table a few weeks before we visited. Have a look online and you will be able to book a table no problem. They may want a deposit depending what table you book but I can’t see it being too difficult. The sunset view is unbelievable from the sky bar ☺️ We hope your travels go ahead as planned and you have a fantastic time in Sorrento. Its a beautiful part of the world!

Would you recommend staying in Sorrento over Positano? Not too interested in the beach, just the atmosphere. I live in Australia where every beach is free!

Absolutely, there is so much more to do in Sorrento. Even with the covid restrictions there was still a great buzz to the town. Positano is great to see but after spending the day there we wondered if a week would be too long as there didn’t seem much to do.

Was the sky bar expensive ?

Hi Lucy, We booked a sea view seat (front row) for €25 minimum spend per person. Cocktails were around €12-15 depending what you were drinking and beers i think were €9 for a small bottle of Peroni. We also ordered some food which was just small nibbles and that was around €20. So the minimum spend is soon spent. You can book other seats and I don’t think these carry a minimum spend but I would recommend booking if you do decide to go as I think it gets full really quick. The views are amazing and the sun set is incredible. I hope this is of some help to you. 🙂

Ye, so if we went for a meal at night usually it was between 50/70. With a alcoholic drink. 🙂

The traffic! We thought it would only be around 30 minutes but that wasn’t the case. A lot of the journey is through narrow winding roads and the traffic is very “stop/start” The views are amazing thought as it’s coastal roads at this point. 😊

You probably paid twice as much for food and drink than you would have done , if you had gone down the side streets (this is deffo true in Venice) ,although you would maybe not have had the views .....I've lived ,worked and travelled ,around most of this country inc where you are...I suppose if you've got the cash it's worth it.

This is true, our favourite restaurant was one away from the Main Street and more going back up to our hotel. It was half the price of some of the main central restaurants and the food was so much better. The food was one of the main let downs of the Amalfi coast. Not much really impressed. Unlike Venice like where plenty of places were amazing.

Sunbed prices n beach clubs r ridiculous costs only one I liked was Croatia just been to Mykonos 500 euro min spend pp there no thanks lol

Haha, I think they are for the bit timers! We wouldn’t be parting with that kind of money for a party!
