I was there my self with a friend and I stayed a week and I traveled around and there is nothing not to like but is everything to love. And I would like and love to go back again. That is an amazing place to go and see.
With the quality of this video, I thought you had many more subs! I love it! Years ago I spun a globe and said wherever it lands is where I go on my Honeymoon. And it landed on Amalfi Coast/Positano . And I have been in love with it ever since!
I got my sandals made from the same place. They're amazing! Also, for restaurants, I suggest C'ero Una Volta. They're towards the top of the hill but they're very affordable and good.
Loved your vlog - the tips and thorough explanations were extremely helpful. I'm planning on stopping by the sandal shop you mentioned in Positano AND I just ordered the Viscata wedges!
Love your review Dana. We were there in April and last April and watching the video brought back the memories. A little piece of heaven! The other amazing nearby place is Ravello.
The cafe I mentioned in the video is actually called La Pergola, but Bucco Di Bacco is directly above it and has an ocean view. There is another restuantat in front of Le Pergola with ocean views as well.
What time did the transport stop? I’m wanting to stay in sorrento but will go to positano and want to be able to watch the sunset and get back to sorrento? X
We got married at the Poseidon in 2012 and go back every year for our anniversary. FINALLY a video that captures Positano correctly. Very well done! Subbed
Hey love! I was hoping you could expand on the travel from Rome to Positano a little more. Which high speed train to get on etc.. thank you ❤️❤️ I’ll be visiting in a little over a month for the first time
So exciting! So from Rome there are multiple ways you can get to Positano. But you'll need to get to Naples first. Step 1. Take the Italia Rail train from Rome to Naples. From Naples you can take 3 Options: 1. A ferry to Sorrento (most expensive)2. The Circumvesuvia Train to Sorrento (cheap, but a little sketchy at night) 3. A Direct bus to Sorrento (my fave option, but bus stops service at 7pm) From Sorrento you have to take the SITA bus to Positano. OR You can take the Italia Rail train from Rome to Salerno (transfer in Naples) From Salerno you'll take a ferry to Postiano.
Thank you for sharing. We leave May 12 for 4 days there. Pls tell us about some tours, like the olive tour, path of the gods, buffalo mozzarella tour, etc. Also, what is the best way to get private drivers to places from town? Thx Kathleen
Holly, tours start at about 300 euro with Grassiboatpositano.com , also a shared boat with a trip to Capri is amazing and is 85 euro PP. They take you halfway, let you swim in the Med, do the grottos, give you 4 hours on island, swim on the way back and disembark in positano centre.
love this! so informative! just wondering how pricey it is to rent a bot even for just an hour or so to ride around the coast, see positano from the water and maybe jump in for a dip! im arriving from private car from the train station and want to experience seeing the village as a whole from far away! also from Le Sirenuse - couldn't make reservations as it was full but I heard you can just walk in and take photos from the terrace? can't wait to hear back from you!
Hi Laura! The sandals were 75E but you can find other shops for 60E. The boat can range from pricing per person I believe 90E. But I would email Elisabeth at info@bluestarpositano.it for the best quote!
Hello Dana - Have you used any drone for video or photo and Is there any restriction on using drone in Positano that you know? I will be there on the wee of 10/17. Thanks!
I did! besides the circumvesuvia train. It is best to map out what your plan to do before hand. Once landed you might have limited cell service, and end up not knowing how to get to point B without getting ripped off.
Thanks for your video. It was very informative. I will be staying two nights in Positano and two nights in Amalfi. Do you suggest I take a boat to Amalfi from Positano and if so, what will it cost and will they take my luggage? Thanks.
Yes that is the easiest and most scenic way to get to Positano. Once arrived in Positano you can have someone carry your luggage to your hotel! I am not sure the price however.
loved your video dana..thanks!! im going in september and im so excited, dream come true. can i ask how much the private tour cost? and for how long? this will be very helpul
Hi Karolina, I am so glad you enjoyed! The prices vary from private to group tours, they will quote you once you email in/ depending on high/low season.
Do you recommend to book the Blue Star boat ride in advance - or is it OK to go there at the stall and book? I find the website via trip advisor is confusing.
Positano is definitely expensive. Its expensive for a reason, it’s more beautiful than Sorrento even the locals will tell you this. But I recommend people do what’s best for their budget. I personally always stay in Positano because I like Positano better. Also it’s best to book in advance many things are already booked in Positano this year.
Can you tell me anything about La Scalinatella staircase - which is the steep staircase down to the main beach. If by any chance you start point is La Sirenuse, how far down is the walk to the beach?
The walk from the Beach from La Sirenuse is hardly anything. I believe its one small set of stairs, then its a downward road right to the Church, then from there another small set of stairs!
I am planning to go from Rome with a friend. Tossing between going by tour or going on our own way. So r u saying that we take express train to Naples then from Salerno another train and then a ferry. What would you recommend? Sorrento or Salerno? I really want to see Positano from the water, eat, drink, and go to the beach. How much would the transport would be? We are on a budget. Also in September, would the shops/restaurant be close for siesta? What time? Also do u have to pay for the beach access?
I booked my boat in advance, however due to unpredictable weather it was moved around while we were there. But the communication with Blue star was very clear and accommodating with our schedule.
Wypłacaj bułę i czekam w sobotę w garniturze w Międzymiastowa. Ewentualnie jak w tamtym roku będę przewiał zainteresowanie tematem na wyciągnięcie ręki 🤝🐩 hau hau
Hi there! Thank you very much for your video, good tips! I was wondering what month you went there? We at planning to go in beginning of April. I checked the weather in April and average is +19-21 is that true? Also is that the good idea to rent the car from Rome to Sorrento, Positano, Capri? These are the places we are planning to go. Thank you very much in advance.Lana
I went in early May and the weather was beautiful. It wasn't that warm to lay out in the sun, but comfortable enough that you didn't need a jacket. The season starts in Postiano after Easter so later April would be a nice time to visit, but don't expect it to be to hot. You could rent a car, however parking and driving is tight especially in Positano. We ended up taking a train to Sorrento, then took the SITA bus to Positano. For Capri, you can take the ferry from any town on the Amalfi Coast for a day trip. I also have a video on Capri as well! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi Theresea, From Florence, I would check flights to Naples ( or train, which may be a long journey) Once in Naples you can take the Ferry to Sorrento, then the SITA bus to Positano.
I will be there in a day trip from Rome I’m renting a car and drive from Rome. My trip is in August I knows is high season but do you know if there is enough Parking spaces. TIA 🤗
Hi, love this video super informative, trying to plan a future trip! Wondering how much your private tour of the coast was and how you found it and/or the best way to find one? thank you
Hello! My friend and I are going in June, so peak season I know oops. Anyways, would you say renting the vespa or a boat for the day is a better experience?
At least the weather will be BEAUTIFUL! Both will be so much fun. Depending how comfortable you are driving a Vespa on the windy road of the Amalfi Coast. I didn't rent the Vespa, but I would love to. The boat will also be so memorable, but cost more. Either way it will be awesome.

Booked. Thanks! We’ve been to Bellagio and loved it. Will go back one day but really looking forward to Positano now. Taking your rec for train to Salerno and then ferry to Positano. Staying at hotel Poseidon. Any feedback on that hotel?
Hi Dana, my wife and I are going to visit Italy next month (October) and we plan to spend 4 to 5 days in Amalfi Coast: two nights in Sorrento (including a day trip to Capri), 1 night in Positano and 1 or 2 nights in Amalfi or Atrani. I am thinking of getting a rental car to drive from Naples to Sorrento and other places (one of your videos also recommended this to avoid potential problems with train). But I am also worried about the possibility of getting stuck in traffic, trouble finding a parking space, etc. Any suggestion? Also, do you know if the ferry operates in October? Thanks.
You should train to Naples Centrale and then hire a car service to take you directly to Positano. We use Marco from Pompeii_tour_drivers on IG, or the pompeiitourdrivers.com website.
I am looking for a hotel that is mainly only a few steps from the beach or main thoroughfare as too many steps will be hard on me . Can you recommend any that are not too high up? Thank you. Will await your response
Valuable and well thought out video, thank you. Next year I'm planning on going to Positano on a family trip, I am vegan and was wondering if they have options there/what to expect.
HI! There aren't too many restaurants in Positano, however they have a nice place called Casa e Bottega that would be great option I know they will have selections.
Hi Dana Can you tell me when is the best time of the month to go to Positano from mid-may upwards and which is the best cheap hotel to stay or another place to stay as me and my girlfriend are on a budget as we will be going next year 2020. I appreciate it for your help and time thank you.
Sorrento is a great base because you can travel to all the cities along the coast for day trips, including Capri/ Amalfi/ and Positano. I do believe Positano would be great to stay in for a few nights.
