When Amanda Boxtel was 24, a skiing accident left her paralyzed from the waist down. She was told that she would never walk again. Yet on-stage, we watch her climb from a wheelchair into a bionic exoskeleton based on the structure of her own muscles. In this unforgettable talk, Amanda reconsiders the future of technology and biology - and what human beauty and movement truly mean.

Her smile after standing... That says it all. I wish technology improves faster and better in fields like this. HOPE!

I actually fast forwarded to where Amanda uses the exo, and I am unsuccessfully fighting back tears. I know people continually thank their deity for things like this, but I thank the human scientists and engineers making such incredible strides that allow us to overcome the limitations of the human condition, and restore such fundamental things like walking, seeing, even breathing.

I have a daughter, now in Spirit, who suffered as Amanda. I applaude YOU~I was told Kim would never live & never walk I said, "BS"~she not only walked with Spina bifida & no muscles in her right leg & with most of her right foot cut off. She danced, jumped out of airplanes~she did it all...I am a R.N. & I still work & still don't believe so much of what physicians say, for I know what I have lived. I know what my MIRACLE child did; all 3 of my children are miracles. One still in body & my other daughter with her sister, where there is no time, no bodies.

That's great a brace and electrical movement device.. but it's pretty big and clunky and quite a contraption. How much do they cost? What they really need to do is figure out a way to actually get in there and actually fix the spine.
