Can we just take a moment to appreciate how brave you have to be to leave an insular community and to speak on it?

Love these collaboration videos with all three of you! My family was polyandrist many generations ago - all of the brothers in a family would marry one wife, and it wouldn't matter whose kid anyone was. Every child had a mom and multiple dads. It wasn't a religious or cult thing necessarily - many behaviors become tied to religion over time to increase the likelihood that they remain, but it was for population control. Up in the Himalayas, people can't really have a lot of kids/big families and sustain them. It was kind of weird for me to realize how opposite the cultural environment for polygyny here in the West is. With multiple working dads and a working mom, the kids never worried about food, shelter etc because there were always enough resources. Polygamy in the west really puts kids in tough situations. I don't think I could handle either since I was socialized in a monogamous society, but it's so interesting to learn about, especially with my family's history!

I could go on and on forever about how much I love hearing about all three of y'alls experiences! Thank you so much for sharing all that you have, I know that it's not always easy to do so. On a lighter note, I do want to chime in and say that I grew up in the LDS church (have been out for almost 7 years now) in a small town in New Mexico (the town has some deep LDS pioneer history) and remember vividly that at our ward xmas parties all the kids would get oranges and peanuts! I'm sure that probably has more to do with wider generational Christmas traditions rather than any specific religious ones, but when I heard Amanda say that, I laughed out loud!

Some gardeners use comfrey as a fertilizer for their garden. The pick a bunch of it and put it in a bucket, weigh it down, and fill the bucket with water. They let it sit for weeks then strain it and fertilize their plants. Also, some holistics make a salve with it. I don't know what types of ailments it is to "heal".

Very interesting. Here in the UK I know comfrey for its ancient uses on the skin although my mother never used it. Wiki says " In 2001, the United States Food and Drug Administration issued a ban of comfrey products marketed for internal use, and a warning label for those intended for external use.[10][11] Comfrey is particularly contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, in infants, and in people with liver, kidney, or vascular diseases". The most interesting question about the Order for me is about the marrying of cousins (which in one town in the UK 5% from that community - indian first cousin marriage - has caused 25% of the disabled children there) and uncles etc within the Order which seems very unwise if you want lots of healthy children.

egg shells are full of minerals so it's not that crazy, if you clean them up and dry them out and feed them back to the chickens it helps strengthen the eggs and makes them even more nutritious.

Thank you for the work you do in the world. As Amanda said in an earlier video, so many of the characteristics among religious fundamentalists from all faiths are similar, whether it is evangelical Christianity, FLDS, Islam, Judaism, etc. Extreme patriarchy is harmful, traumatic and very damaging for women and children... as well as the men who are not considered "worthy" by those in charge. Your viewers are a community of people who are interested in these topics because so many of us have experienced different amounts of some of these characteristics in our own lives and own faiths, or observed it in our families. My suggestion for future videos -- could you please address whether or not you are emotionally "triggered" when there is big news from other patriarchal fundamentalist cults? Even though I was not raised in a fundamentalist religious cult, my parents had a ton of religious guilt and some of my 8 sibs chose fundamentalist religions where I see these forms of oppression perpetuated. Yesterday, the Duggar story reactivated my built-up anger to the point where I wished we had a live on-line community to deal with collective healing together when these types of stories break. To all who visit here, I wish you peace and healing and love.

Thank you so much for your kind words and insight. It means so much to us that our viewers know that they are not alone. I have put your suggestion on the list of videos we want to do, and I think it is a great topic to discuss. It can be hard to see the ones we love go through the same things we have already gone through ourselves. Thank you for spreading such positivity on our channel!

That's interesting! I think its bc these fruits are harvested and readily available this time of year. I'm Methodist and grew up getting oranges and pecans here in the South. My mother was Nazarene and got the same things here in Alabama. We don't grow oranges but Florida does and we grow pecans. Utah is close to California and they've been citrus producers for a long time too. This is neat to have in common across continents and nations!

Only three minutes in, and you've blown my mind twice: 1. Members of a family-centric, deeply conservative, the-father-rules-the-family group don't tell their own children who their fathers are and put their children on record as unacknowledged as well as (legally) illegitimate. 2. The kids of one mother don't always know about other mothers and their kids? Ah. THAT'S how they manage to marry half-siblings. The half-siblings don't count as closely related because they weren't raised as siblings. (Ick. Ick ick ick. Ick ick ick ick ick.)

It sounds like personal revelation forces people to really think about whether the gf/bf is THE ONE. Sometimes someone is great on paper but when you step back you realize they're not the one for you. Many people go into marriage because the person appears to check the right boxes and they ignore their inner voice telling them not to.

I think one of the saddest things about cult religions is the pairing up of people who have no idea of who they are and are often waaaay too young to even understand what a relationship entails. Before they know it they have babies and then are stuck in an unhappy situation of someone else's making. Which of course is exactly what the cult wants. People who are trapped into staying for fear of losing their children or other family members. It is and always has been about fear and control - and, like the Kingston clan - predominantly about money!

I have a question that you've probably answered before, but I haven't found it, so please excuse me if this is a repeat... How did they explain the math behind every worthy man having three-plus wives? Every extra wife a man marries leaves another man with no wife at all, but there doesn't seem to be a place in this society for men who don't plan to ever marry. Where were the extra women supposed to come from? Or was there an expectation that a lot of men would be found unworthy and run out? I know that in practice, young men leave the order at higher rates than women, either voluntarily or because they're forced out. It doesn't seem to me that people would be upfront about that, though. What was the Order's explanation?

Ironically, the 144k in the bible (Revelation 14) says that they will be men, and VIRGINS. So the whole "3 wives to get into the kingdom" thing is kinda comical. I don't believe that 144k is the number for believers who will be "saved". Also it would mean that having s*x AT ALL ruins your chances of salvation, where the bible also says "be fruitful and multiply" with your spouse... Context is everything lol!

eating eggshells doesn't do anything positive for your body as you can't just digest calcium and transform that into better teeth. BUT they are pretty sharp and can cause horrible damage to your intestines if one bit punctured them. effect would be internal bleeding with no way to stop it or find it in time - you don't see blood on x-rays and the intestines are very long so looking for a small cut that leaks intestines fluid (!!!) isn't an option. i don't want to imagine the pain, think of digesting your own organs 😬

You're SURE you're going to heaven?" And they ALL stammer at this, ""Well ...all I have to do is...( and begin listing all they have yet to do' to be considered) to hopefully go. I look them in the eyes and ask, "So then you want to take me to hell with?" They start backing up, "No no no not that..." and get away as fast as they can.
