She gave birth to two children to keep her self from going to prison That doesn’t deserve any empathy😅

She meant it mainly as literally having to put yourself in the person’s shoes to play them. Probably helped she didn’t play it much when she had kids lol

Without any amount of empathy it would be hard to understand why people do the things they do and without understanding that it would be hard to prevent them from doing it in the future. I think Amanda is absolutely correct here that everyone deserves at least someone to understand them and their behavior and the ways they think because otherwise how can we prevent people like them from gaining that amount of influence in the future? And also as someone who studied in theatre for years, actors put themselves into the shoes of some really awful characters (some characters based on real people) sometimes and their job as an actor is to portray that person authentically to convey what the work is intending to convey. And in order to do that the actor has to have empathy. To be clear empathy does not necessarily mean you feel bad for a person. It means you understand their perspective. You can have empathy for someone without agreeing with them or their actions.

No wonder she did so well playing her, Elizabeth was also good at giving really long answers that never really answer the question she was asked lol
@toobaaaapi
@toobaaaapi 9 месяцев назад
She did give the answer in case you weren't paying attention, she clearly said we portrayed her in a way that people can see her psyche and that's compassion and empathy, and I think everyone deserves that. She has become sympathetic to Elizabeth after doing the series and that's exactly what she said. She did however didn't deny that "other people were involved" which was very nice of her (sarcasm).
@chelseaoconnor3261
@chelseaoconnor3261 4 месяца назад
@@toobaaaapiI disagree with this take. She never says she has sympathy for her. There’s a difference between having enough empathy to portray a character (yes even one based off of a real person) authentically. You can have empathy for a person and not feel sorry for them. And I’ve found in watching other clips of her talking about this that she does not seem to feel sorry for Elizabeth. She feels sorry for all of the people affected by her actions, but to come out and say that she hates her or whatever would likely not create as much intrigue around the character that Amanda portrayed and people would therefore be less likely to go watch the show. And speaking as an actor you have to have empathy and compassion to authentically portray a character, even a villain because the fact is it’s very rare for someone to actually see themselves as a villain, so you have to understand where their motivations come from. It’s a very tricky line to toe and that’s why the ones who are very successful at it get accolades and awards.

@@chelseaoconnor3261 she didn't say sympathy but she clearly said compassion, they are very similar if not the same.

You can feel the empathy for even the worst person because you can understand why he/she become that person (bad childhood or some trafic event) because people are not born evil. But it of course don’t justify their actions especially when they hurt people.

Ms. Elizabeth whose decision was it to have phase 1 and phase 2 business model transition? And then goes into this long ass non-answer of many meetings and discussions 😂😂😂
