Stenberg, Headland, and Kennedy's use of the term "toxic fans" is their attempt to frame and limit discussion. People have a right to spend their money any way they want to, and if a Lucasfilm product is perceived to be subpar, Disney's customers aren't going to pay for it.
No one complained when Solo kinda failed. But Solo made money. The blame was put where it was. Better movies others wanted to see. It happens. And yea I like Solo better now than even then. Proof to some folks just like Star Wars and the story line. So much could have been done.
My parents will never take our kids to see Disney, ever, after this mess with these horrible people! We will never take them to see Disney again unless they fire all these wack jobs and bring on talented non-woke people directors and actresses! They don’t even know how to act!
We now live in an age where young activists in the entertainment industry will attack long time fans of great franchises for not liking what they made and never take responsibility for the fact that they failed.
Why didn't that majority watch the show?! Who held them back?! Why didn't they show up?! Anyway, I guess its easier to blame the non-existent as they cannot fight back...
Everything coming out of KK, Amandla, Leslye, etc, seems to come down to, "Look, we want to change this franchise into something completely different that reflects our worldview, and how DARE you not be on board with that." That's it. Truly. It's a temper tantrum that people aren't okay with them changing the nature of Star Wars to something that reflects a completely different outlook than the series had before them.
Exactly! What really irks me is that even after everyone makes it clear they’re not on board, they all pretend like no actually everyone was on board, our show was sabotaged by some imaginary “toxic” group of people. And the people who weren’t completely aware of what was going on buy into it, and the prevailing narrative becomes, the show was a success. And because everyone thinks it was actually a success, someone else will try the same thing again, and the whole process will repeat itself.
I hate to break it to her but as a woman (a real one) who loves SciFi, Star Trek, Firefly etc and have never been an avid Star Wars fan, I went into the series with no preconceived ideas or expectations. The Acolyte was badly written, even more badly acted, it was trite and banal and seemed to take pleasure in the destruction of precious lore. It was poorly shot and dark, there was no character development or motivation for their actions. It was a compilation of loosely connected scenes that did nothing to add to the Star Wars story, only detract from it. It literally shoved the "alphabet" agenda down our throats without any relevance. The mantra was "Men bad, straight people bad, white people bad, Star Wars fans bad". It was cancelled because it was rubbish and even the much vaunted people, in the "community" didn't watch it.
All my family could understand original Star Wars. Including me Grandfather. Now I got to be gay to enjoy the movie. Because women are not important? Lea is not important? Move gone. I cried when Carrie died. I will p*ss on all the graves of new star games.
Because she's just spouting the same brainless nonsense that all woke females do. If you're a strong independent woman, you don't need no man and therefore men are the enemy. Adding women into the mix would attack her demographic. I feel sorry for anyone attached to the LTBTQ community that feels people like this are using them for their own political ends. The show was shit and full of toxic ideology (ironically the woke are some of the most toxic members of modern society). That's why it got cancelled. The sexuality or gender or ethnicity of the actors has ZERO to do with it in the minds of any normal human being.
Toxic males are to blame, and the toxic fan base is to blame, and the large silent fan base that is just afraid to speak up -- they're to blame, too. Just don't blame the writers, the producers, the directors or the actors who created the product that no one wanted to watch.
I just can't help but to remember the both of them laughing openly and proudly on that interview calling nerds gay, them having such audacity to tell us to deal with it, don't insult the fanbase. So now they got to deal with the backlash of ruining an IP just to fit an agenda. I don't care if your gay or who u choose to have sex with, what does that have to do with making a good story or making u relate to the characters!?! It was lazy writing with poor direction, simple and done
I don't understand how they thought thay was a good idea. I knew nobody would watch that when they were being so aggressive with the marketing. Clearly it drove away most fans
As a gay man, I this crap...well, crappy. What's worse is these types try to rope other LGBTQ people into this by claiming "We're speaking out for LGBTQ people!" 1. I'm a grown adult. I can and WILL state MY opinion on things, not you woke freaks or anyone else. 2. YOUR opinion is NOT MY opinion! Crash and burn, Disney.
Woke agenda ruined Disney. Them doubling down on it killed them. Star wars fan base is mostly gen x. We ain't interested in this crap. Even my Gen z kid doesn't want this crap. We wanted a fantasy to remove us from all the crap. We never wanted for them to try to push their mess on us in the guise of hiding it behind something we loved. Nobody asked for han solo to be pegged by a robot. We don't care about a world of gay witches where our jedis are the bad guys. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
I rewatched Fantasia last night, and it drove home just how far Disney has fallen. Its creativity and vision are enough to make the point, but what I was really reminded of is how Disney embraced the very best of our culture. The current Disney productions loathe our culture, and are trying to erase it as thoroughly and completely as they can.
I don't care what Stenberg has to say. She's a terrible actor and she hasn't got a clue what she's talking about. Blah, blah; blah she spouts the same crap. The show failed because of terrible writing, poor acting and poor direction. Disney cancelled the show because the vast majority of fans hated it and stopped watching after the first couple of episodes. There weren't enough of the minority who actually watched it! Stenberg and Headland are hateful narcissists who will never admit the Acolyte was garbage, period. 😡
On top of all, it's the cost $180 million. That's more than likely the other reason why they are so upset, what they got paid from that amount for something so bad, no wonder they are fighting for season 2.
The arrogance here is quite incredible. If a company were to create any other product that the public didn’t buy, it would be the company’s fault for not understanding their customers.
What they dont get is that they weren't canceled socially. They were canceled financially. It was a merit based conclusion. They are stuck on social cancelation.
There are some who are framing her as an “underpaid actress”. I got severely Downvoted on Reddit for questioning the logic in that assumption, and the proof of that statement? 180 million and she’s the main star, with TWO characters. She’s chummy and admits to being mentored by the director Leslye Headland. So how on Earth can anyone just claim that she’s underpaid.
If there was a silent majority of fans, they would have watched the show. Imagine being so arrogant that you believe you could do no wrong. Absolute clowns
I love these channels that stand up for us, the real fans. And because of these channel are forcing change. It’ll take about 2 years to be fixed since the next couple series have already been filmed. But after that we’re gonna go back to normal hopefully in the Star Wars world.
She’s a joke. As someone who is part of that population (it’s not a community) I hate that she uses that as a way to garner sympathy and uses it as a victim card. She doesn’t know what real struggle is. She embarrasses all that came before her who paved the way for us to be accepted
Here's a challenge have The Acolyte cast and crew remake this show exactly as they had been planning, but no Star Wars IP. They get full creative control and can make something fresh, with no Star Wars universe. See if you can bring your fans back.
It doesn't matter how many of them sign any petition. The same people who sign that petition are the same people who constantly scream on twitter...and both we and disney already know that those people screaming on twitter never watched the show to begin with...and aren't going to watch the shows...so they don't matter. You can have a billion people telling you they want a product, but when you make the product...none of them buy it...now you just lost a ton of money on making that product for non-existent customers. This petition is the epitome of the saying "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". They think disney is going to throw that money in the fire a second time...when they showed disney they have no intention of buying the product already lol.
This just makes no sense, the viewership was way down compared to every other Star Wars show put out by disney. It wasn't popular, get over it and move on
They can't because they would have to admit they suck at their jobs. We all know they aren't going to take responsibility, they're strong independent women and should be praised for that. They're not just learning you have to provide something of value to be praised in society.
The people blaming it on race conveniently forget that Andor had a straight, white guy as the lead AND it had good reviews…and people didn’t watch that either!
However. I would argue that the vast majority of fans believe Andor is several runs higher in quality and a far better show than acolyte. And… Who brought up race again?
@@ScottWillover that’s my point, it’s universally regarded as a better show and it stars a straight, white guy…if we’re all “ists or phobes” then why aren’t we all watching Andor?! The truth is a lot of people are done with Star Wars either way
"It was deeply disturbing to see such a successful show not moving forward"... sweetie, if it was a "successful show," it would be moving forward - that's the very definition of a successful show. The fact that it didn't move forward means it wasn't a successful show. I think the most deeply disturbing thing here is this woman's level of delusion. Fans like what they like, and they are allowed to. The levels of delusion and narcissism, to think she has the right to tell fans what the have to like, are stratospheric.
Calling the fans (if there were any) immature for their failed series is so mature on her part. Star Wars fans don’t care about ideology, we want memorable characters and gripping storylines in a galaxy far far away
Please don't let her gaslight anyone.....The reason Acolyte and this Star Wars era is so disliked is specifically because they want to move away from "George Lucas's vision" and hold the woke agenda talk for a second and think... she talks about the "silent majority of Star Wars fans" .... Are you suggesting that the majority of "Star Wars fans" aren't there because of "George Lucas's vision" because that is just asinine...Again this is nothing against anyone being woke, its about basic logic.....
WOOOWWWWWW!!!!!! Everything else is expected but the fact that she’s gone out of her way to BLAME THE SMALL ‘SILENT FANS’ she has just goes to show how out of depth she is with reality!! 💁🏾♀️🤡🤣 How the heck do you go and hate on the tiny group of people that actually do like ur show! That’s the crazy part for me. 😲🤯
I’m rather surprised Stenberg still has the time to go after Star Wars fans this way, instead of focusing on finding a new job / dealing with the lawsuit she wants to press against Disney.
This is not about women. Women are better than this. Women are exciting. This is not about homosexuality. There are great and entertaining homosexual actors. This is not about diversity as Hollywood has always been divers. Tell me about the prince of bell air, tell me about californication, tell me about ALF. 😂😂
Because if they didn't have toxic males to blame they would have to actually admit the show was bad, and they can't do that, so they have to go back to the well for the old canned phrases.
Even Yord’s actor didn’t receive much backlash; all he did was speak on mora ambiguity and said that “Anakin blew up the Death Star”, but that’s it. Charlie Bennet didn’t go mouthing off all season (like his cast mate) and as such, none of the later backlash comes his way. Despite him being both Black and homosexual, why aren’t the “toxic fans” coming for any of the other cast members for their identities??? Because it’s not a factor.
Amanda Stemblerg throwing a tantrum is just exquisite. She talks about those Star Wars fans that didn’t talk to defend the show, apparently they also didn’t watch the show. Because its cancelation was a business decision.
obviously she doesnt understand business and betting. They attacked existing customers overestimating the interest of their target audience and their ability to write something other than self-insert mary sue fan fiction, and in the end it was a commercial failure. There is no silent majority, there is no one to judge them watching in their own home, no one to stop from watching, but no one wanted to, it was hot garbage and hostile to the existing fanbase and existing customers. Demanding privilege, gaslighting on the agenda and the open misandry and hatred for the original creation. Leslie doesnt have enough talent to write her own hit space saga, instead having to destroy star wars from pure spite and jealousy. RIP Acolyte, and bye bye Leslie, I will be avoiding all of yours and Stenberg's projects. I will not feed demons who hate me for existing and cannot tell a story, just regurgitate propaganda messaging.
Soneone needs to explain to Ms Stenberg that since they're begging the fans to save " The Acolyte", insulting and abusing them is not the way to go. If she's trying to appeal to "the silent majority", she needn't bother, they couldn't be bothered to watch it either.
Love it or hate it, "toxic fans" are the ones who will dish out the most money to support the franchise. Might as well cater to them. Pissing them off isn't the right move.
I think she takes everything personally. The same way she did in the beginning mentioning racist comments, when all people did was express they were displeased with the show overall and her lame characters.
Loud voices? Or the fans that don’t like what you like. Just because you made it doesn’t mean anyone has to watch it. I guess Hollywood forgot that fans pay the bills.
From the clips of "The Acolyte" that I saw, the show appeared: * grim * tragic * uninteresting * unfocused Even if critics had recommended it, it still wouldn't have been for me. Even a well-written gloomy tragedy should have uplifting moments, and there weren't really any mentioned.
There's a huge difference between, saying "I don't like the story because it's boring, the actors can't act, and it's a bizarre twist on Star Wars that isn't written well enough to make me want to watch," and saying "I don't' like the story because the main characters are gay." I only hear the former statement, and not the latter.
Anybody would have to be stupid and hate money to hire this girl for any other project. Like Ziegler, she just can't keep her mouth shut and that is always a show/movie killer.
Is it just me or does it feel like whenever Iger, Kennedy, Stenberg, or literally anyone at Disney that lashes out at people say the same thing every time? They always start with the same thing "As CEO it is my responsibility...[blah blah blah]" "As one who is part of the LBGTQ community...[blah blah blah]". It's like they're so burnt out of creativity that they can't even make statements without barfing out the same thing over and over.
Sounds like a weak excuse for poor acting, poor script writing and poor direction. When has it been okay to blame the punters for not getting what they want. Delusional with capital D
Star wars has no sexuality maybe a kiss on the cheek or on the lips one time in 3 movies !!!! Star wars has no pronouns or lgbtq BS !!!! And they don't like it and they think there's some conspiracy out there to get them this is a joke !!!! They just can't get over that all this stuff is bad and the last decent Star wars TV show was the child !!! And let's not forget you show me one Star wars fan that asked for any of this stuff ????? You won't find one 😮
Do these people actually understand that this will haunt their lives and their careers going forward into the future and some of them will probably not be hired again to do movies or TV shows or anything else and I don’t see how they’re going to try to defend their actions when Their past will definitely come up to be judged and some of them won’t be able to get work again because this will be the career destroying that they participated in even if they’re young and stupid they know better and this will probably be on the Internet forever even if they delete it it’s still going to be on the Internet. And this is a number of reasons not to be an idiot and do stupid things that can literally destroy your career even if you don’t have one😅
A "diverse" cast and leftist ideology does not automatically make a great product; it's quite the opposite. They tried to appeal to the small minority of rainbow rejects who don't even like Star Wars and still wonder why it failed. Really hope there is a hostile takeover at Disney so they can get back to their roots of making great stories.
We had to move on from George Lucas because his vision of Star Wars isn’t relevant anymore? Lucas’s version of Star Wars remains more popular than anything. Disney has put out or produced in the years since they took over the brand. What in the world is this person talking about?
I’m really tired of people playing the “minority” card (which apparently includes LGB, but I wouldn’t consider us a minority these days) as an excuse for bad acting, poor business decisions, etc. Bad acting is bad acting regardless of who you are, and fans are going to call it out without regard for the actor’s personal life… bc at the end of the day that shit doesn’t matter.
Ive come to the conclusion that them saying we hate diversity is just them saying that bad writing is diversity. We should be okay with bad writing because not every writing is good and we should contribute to the equitable society by giving people we hate our money to. Cause this show is just bad.
Let's face it. The acolyte didn't suffer representation. It suffered bad writing and even though I didn't see it, just reading the summary of each episode is more than enough to let me know that this is one terrible show with bad writing. Also, dissing the original creator of Star Wars is more than enough to set fans off. George Lucas made this show with his vision and it was his vision that everyone loved. Now they're claiming that George Lucas' vision is not only no longer relevant but also their vision now. Die-sney longer cares about how their show turns out as long as they can make a quick buck while putting in as much representation as possible. I miss the days when Disney didn't care about representation and made actually good movies like Big Hero 6. Now all I see is a corporation that has no vision or respect for anyone that isn't part of the "majority" that they like to entertain so much.
When you try to retcon the entire lore just to push your agenda, no one’s going to watch or like it let alone pay for it. You can have your beliefs and opinions but keep them out of a FANTASY that many people have enjoyed long before this nonsense existed
😂😂 Amandla thinks the purpose of creating TV shows and movies should be advancing whatever personal politics the creators and actors like. No, Amandla, the purpose of you and the writers and everyone substantially involved is to CREATE AN INTERESTING STORY.
If there really was a large silent majority of fans it would show in the viewing figures, the truth is that they're not making a show that has mass appeal, and by most accounts, they're making it badly
"Fake review from fake fans" for a fake star wars. This isn't Star Wars. "she represents a modern woman not like George Lucas time" Well this takes place in a galaxy from a long time ago.Thats the problem, your characters don't fit in Star Wars
They crack me up calling people "Fake fans". So if I don't like YOUR show I'm a fake fan of the ENTIRE genre? I'm just not a fan of your crap. Nothing FAKE about that.
Fans, like fans of every media, will always create some backlash due to changes to the formula, but when it is done terribly coupled with toxic defensiveness from the content creators, the backlash is justified. There is a reason this is the most poorly rated show and it isn’t prejudice white males. I will give them this though. The biggest haters of Star Wars are its fans. I grew up with the prequels and if Darth Jar Jar was Lucas’ intention, I will never forgive him for not going with it and never forgive the “fans” that pressured him with their backlash.
There are 1,000,000 better actresses that could have done an amazing job! This so called actress has no talent! My dog would have done a better job than 90% of the cast.
Acting isnt hard At all Its scarcity that keeps the worst of us enamored of their banal diversions and gives power to the worst amongst us Romans treated them how they should be treated, like gutter dwellers and weirdos
