When you're worth 3 millions personally at 25, AND you have a multi millionaire father...... you're REALLY REALLY REALLY OPPRESSED and a got you're victim credentials 💯%🤪
This is the really cringe aspect - it just sounds like she's whining because daddy only got her two ponies instead of the stables she asked for. Throw in the fact that she seems to think she is like a female Malcolm X when she is actually half-white and the ONLY reason she got the role is because of her skin colour ( a point which is irrefutable given Disney's hiring practices), and she ends up sounding like Marie Antoinette moaning about how her mountain of cakes only have double cream and pomegranates on them, while the proles starve outside the Palace Gates. It's not just the fact she has no idea how ghastly and privileged she is, she actually has the delusion, the sheer (if you will) f***ing hubris, to assume the position of the victimised and persecuted. It is beyond laughable - it is verging on mentally ill.
@@nickkowak9628 He looks white on pictures, but he could be 1/35 Indian, 1/50th African, a women, a she them/they, a dog furri, and 8/50th UFO. So I don't dare identifying him LOL 🤣🤣🤣Or Disney DEI and ESG will sue me. 😜
The idea that someone who was born to a white millionaire father, lived in a mansion in privilege and has been an actor since she was a child, fawned over and sought after by a white woman for the main role in her little gay activist show - literally lived a privileged life at the hands of white people, and is actually oppressed, is just astounding. But here we are...
She is so oppressed that she was able to make a video of her having a seizure in the streets and have no one stop her. The arrogance she has is so disgusting.
I think she's hot and i like watching hot chicks dance. Maybe your in the closet and you don't like hot chicks? It's ok but you are probably not in the most welcoming fandom for people in the closet.
She's coming late to the party thinking that she's the first one to ever show up. Amandala: "Imma gonna shame y'all with a song I wrote" Us: "You're still here?"
Notice how Stenberg never mentions that she’s half Danish. Just like Rachel Zegler never mentions that she’s half Polish. No victimhood points there I guess. I wonder what their fathers think about that.
Not just half Danish she has Danish citizenship from her father, same goes to the other one who's father is Polish but identifies with her mother (her mother is a white Hispanic anyways) which is a bigger lol than Amandla
This is common of biracial people, they overcompensate and chose one side of their parentage over the other. This is either because of the crap they got growing up (usually from their non-white peers) to prove their whatever-ness, or because at least one of their parents is an a$$hole.
Amandala is an example of what happens when the participation trophy generation grows up. When they were children, their parents and teachers were obsessed with cultivating high self-esteem. They were never told "no" or criticised. Every crayon drawing they produced was praised and proudly displayed, as if it were a work of art. Any negativity from peers or society was dismissed as unproductive bullying or hate. These children managed to reach young adulthood without ever experiencing the pangs of rejection and the self-reflection that follows. They expect unconditional acceptance, becauae they are a special and unique snowflake with gifts to offer the world. If you are mean or critical or negative to them, then that reflects badly on you, not them. You are a hater or a bigot or a bully. If you are not those things, that opens up the possibility that THEY are a failure. And that is something they are not emotionally equipped to deal with.
Exactly - this is why they are so ghastly. She has literally never had to struggle to do anything and has never been rejected from anything. So when everything she has done throughout childhood has been "Brilliant!", why should she expect any different as an adult? She is so great after all, isn't it just natural thst she be asked to lead a multi-million TV show at 25? Isn't that just what happens to great geniuses like her? Meanwhile, she consciously ignores the nepo-baby contacts daddy has and the money he has invested in her through the years. Her white daddy, no less......
You can tell who never engaged in any kind of enterprise where failure actually meant something. Be it sports, high forms of art, hard sciences, etc. There's a curve of success that washes out the pretenders and unqualified. Great post.
Are we never allowed to see gay people in Star WArs? Is it ever ok to you? If not you might be what people call a homophobe. The witches didn't even kiss, it was implied they were a couple. My god you are so fragile. One mught call someone like you a snowflake.
One thing Disney Wars has accomplished. It has proven to be a great filter. Everyone and everything of value has passed through Iger's mesh to leave an indigestible mush consisting of shills, phonies, the un/under qualified, cheap characters, narcissists, liars, gas-lighters, the exquisitely talentless, the manifestly unprincipled, and soggy, botched human garbage generally.
Wait i'm legitimately confused on what's the ideology and why is narrative bad? Isn't narrative the story itself? I'm so confused on what you are saying.
One of the actors was asked "what do you know of Star Wars?" - "Isn't that where Han Solo flied around with his dog?". Casual racism. For the main actress all nerds are gay. And not in a "gay is good" manner but in a "not real men" manner. Yet this show somehow sees itself as the most woke. It really is only the worst.
Can you imagine what the creators of Lost, X files, Breaking bad plus better call Saul, six feet under, dexter, House of cards, House, Bosch, The americans, SG1, (just to name a few), can you imagine these creators' reaction when they hear Hedland referring to this as her best work of art so far?
Well, they ruined Dexter because they couldn't leave that alone either. Except for the scene with the most un-natural deer ever put on film. It was like an alien's depiction of a deer after hearing stories about it. As if the animater had never seen a real deer in their entire life and google images didn't work. I am sure one day they will ruin Breaking Bad as well.
There was the 200th episode of SG-1 where a scene had featured a "younger, edgier" version of the team which was basically a CW teen drama in space. A few years later, SGU came into existence seemingly becoming the very thing SG-1 had made fun of.
I want to live long enough to see two music historians marvel at the irrefutable fact that Rebecca Black wrote and produced a better song than Amandla Stenberg.
@@indiajohnson No problem. Rebecca Black went viral back in 2011 for her song/music video "Friday" which was universally considered terrible. People weren't using the term "cringe" as much back then, but it absolutely applied. That and the fact that she had wealthy parents (that kick-started her music career) make the comparison pretty apt.
Brilliant, as always, sir. Also, Lesley Headland saying The Acolyte is the best piece of art she’s ever created is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. George Lucas created the art. You created an overly-expensive, self-indulgent fan fiction of that art. You want to attach your name to greatness without having any talent yourself, and the world can see right through it.
It probably _is_ the best piece of "art" she's created in her life. I don't think she's lying. But she fails to realise she's speaking comparatively, not in absolute terms. Just because it's _her_ best piece of art, that doesn't make it good compared to any other art.
The villain of Acolyte failed to defeat anyone in combat ... There's only a threat because the Jedi are idiots and don't act like warriors, peacekeepers, monks or even like a bug, which has Fight or Flight instincts... They just stand there, giving the enemy infinite time to work out a plan, to win by chance or to convince you to end your own fight (Obviously, no one would train people to fight like this) .............. The entire order would have already been erased if this is how they act. This is the problem here, these "jedi" can't exist.
i thought the purpose of George Lucas' prequel trilogy was to show how arrogant the Jedi were and how they did NOT take the incoming danger seriously and allowed the Sith right under their noses to take over the Republic and turn it into the Galactic Empire. Did we watch the same trilogy? In fact George made Ki-Adi-Mundi the poster boy for ignorance in the prequels. he dismissed what Qui-Gon told the council as nonsense. Just like he dismisses Sol for believing Mae doesn't know her master and he dismisses that other Jedi for thinking possibly the Sith trained her. The Acolyte STRENGTHENS to lore at helps us to better understand why the Jedi are ignorant to the Sith. Do you even Star Wars?
@@ichigen511 No. It is about how strong women are (oh god) 🤣 You want a strong woman lead character? I give you Ripley. Or Alice. Or Dorothy. We don't need this stuff.
@@tomv3999 You probably only like thise characters because they were popular before you were born. If they came out now you would probably be on the hate bandwagon. Am I wrong? What strong female characters have you enjoyed since you've been alive and saw firsthand?
Amandla knows her career is over after star wars as it seems to be the place people go to die. We can safely assume there will not be a season 2. So I kinda imagine her manager got her to do the video to stir things up, keep her name in the press and potentially find another agenda show to attach to and rack up some social media algorithm credits.
We can safely assume they might make a season 2 just to spite us. I believe the film industry serves more as a front to money laundering. That's why you'll see massive budgets for horrible movies.
I was there in a hot Summer cinema in 1977, a witness to cinematic history. So many happy childhood memories playing the toys and acting out scenes with my friends, the Lucas universe was a seed to spark our imaginations. However when an annoying green merchandising "sock puppet" was more famous than the titular character of a Star Wars TV show, I knew it wasn't for me any longer. When my hero Boba Fett became a grotesque mirror of my own aged, failing corpulant phsyique, when they mocked Fett for being just a stupid old man that's when I knew for certain that Star Wars was not longer for me. Now Star Wars is like watching a sadistic parent drowing unwanted kittens in a rain butt, the pitiful cries for all to hear as they struggle without hope, all the time those orchestrating the demise show no emotion and simply blame everyone else for why it's necessary, demanding you shut up and just accept it. So be it, I've accepted it but I'll never forgive for what you've done.
Well said. Nor do they deserve forgiveness. It started out as cinematic art. Now It's soulless corporate, ultra-processed, mass produced slop wrapped in a thin veneer of "we care about popular social things! Really we do!”
Ok your post is absoutley fascinating but some of the poetry is a bit over my simple mind. I would love to discuss your points as I too was there in a hot Summer cinema in 1977. I was 5 years old. The familyy went back to theater just under 10 times before I entered Kindergarten that fall. First question, who is the annoying green "sock puppet" that ruined your Star Wars experience? Are you talking about Grogu? You hate Grogu? LOL. Your point about Boba Fett being mocked and made to be just a stupid old man are you referring to The Book of Boba Fett? Because I remember being in a hot Summer cinema in 1993 at the age of 11 when George Lucas killed Boba Fett liek a punk ass worthless littl bitch. Far worse than mocking him llike a stupid old man. George admitted later that he had no idea Boba Fett was popular. ???. Thanks George! Of course George went on to destroy Han Solo’s gangster character by having Greedo shoot first. Because evidently Star Wars was now made for precious little children. Definately not for adults. It was in the first two movies. But George had to neutuer Vader and make his child-friendly in Return of the Jedi. My goodness talk about destroying characters, George is a pro. To your final point. Who’s “demanding” you shut up and accept anything? All I’ve ever seen online since the pgodawful prequel trilogy is massive amounts of hatred (ask Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd!). Now because of RU-vid hate gets monitized. People are literally making a lioving off of hating anythingand everything in geek culture. You should be happy. Where’s your hate filled youtube channel you could be rich! you can quit your day job! I kind of feel sorry for you. You now have engullfed the rath of the hater of haters. Ichigen511. See you in the comment section @KevinOLoughlin-ys5ef!
Adding a small detail to this iteration of the nauseating cycle, in the background of stenberg's verbal assault is a mural of the character Radio Raheem (in the Bed-Stuy tee-shirt). Three decades ago, Spike Lee endeavored to create a realistic portrayal of race relations in America in a ground zero setting, diverse Brooklyn, NYC. No matter what you think of Lee's politics or message, it would be hard to deny that he created a heartfelt piece of art with sympathetic and funny characters from all races. Today the iconography of this touchstone piece of art are used to prop up the fake racial conflict, manufactured by the largest media company on earth, and using as its avatar a wealthy nepobaby who has no ties to the often heartbreaking race relations in lower class urban neighborhoods Lee portrayed. A sensitive piece of independent art reduced to corporate propaganda.
Yes, they probably drove her in to that neighbourhood in a private car with personal security. It's all so cynically loathsome, like when Disney spout off about "tolerance" and "hate" yet filmed a movie just outside a uighur Concentration camp. Or when the Doctor Who producers had to film around the genocide of white farmers in South Africa because they wanted to make their aparthied episode about a system that ended 30 years ago. Inhuman, insufferable hypocrisy.
I’ve been boycotting Disney for several years now but am enjoying watching people rip apart what they are trying to pass of as entertainment. Thanks for posting.
I will never tire of the clip where Luke squeezes green milk from a 20 mega-ton walrus in whatever context. The rest of your video was also up to scratch.
When I think about how very well received the gay couple story in the Last of Us was and how people loved The Expanse with its bisexual/pansexual characters and how there is an actual real-life shrine to the fictional bisexual character Ianto Jones from Torchwood in Cardiff it baffles me that people thing critics are angry about gay, bi or lesbian characters. I'm sure some people are, but mostly it is just frustratation with bad characters, some of whom happen to be gay or lesbians. But I guess it's easier to blame homophobia for than to blame your actual low-effort show.
I am tired of everything being gay. It is boring. I am tired of only men being objectified. At least show some cleavage or something if you have dudes assess and dongs out all the time. It just like the show "The Boys", its 90% gay porn and boring dialogue. There is like 5 min of action in each show. Just why? It is so boring.
Amandla suffers from the "pick-me girl" phenomenon that, somehow, keeps getting worse. She clearly didn't take notes from Rachel Zegler, otherwise her mouth would remain shut. Instead, she decided to cry racism (how original), alienate potential viewers/audience and spread more division. No need for the last one, rich mixed girl: YOUR show already does that pretty flawlessly
This is so nicely phrased and well said it makes me feel slightly sorry that none of the creators of such a show have the congnitive ability to process your stream of thought.
Einstein said his definition of insanity was doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So what would you call Disney?
Equal parts evil, narcissistic, incorrigibly inculcated to wicked, anti-modernist ideologies that are founded upon denial and rebellion against objective truth and reality, and stupid.
Falsehoods, lies, misdirection, fabrication, gaslighting, bait and switch, arrogant, propaganda, emptiness, accusatory, manipulative, narcissistic, hateful, conceited, cruel, control and pandering. Just a few words to describe what Star Wars has become.
This is brilliant. It nails It all perfectly, with such fantastic nuance. A friend and I were talking it all last night and all these points were raised, but we could never be so articulate as this. Plus I love the sarcasm 😂
It's quite frustrating how storytelling has moved from imparting wisdom to spiteful attack. I always appreciate a story with a useful message that helps me understand the world a little better, but I'm just not sure how something that is essentially a child having a tantrum is helpful to anyone.
Echo, i really enjoy your work. Always great to listen to your videos/streams along with your occasional visit to the debacle that is The Mr. Brown alliance.
Anyone seen that recent expose on Disney actual racist hiring practice(not that anyone surprised by it). So basically this lady catfish this Disney employee into spilling the beans and exposing Disney in 4K. I see potential lawsuits in Disney future.
Along with wokism becoming mainstream, the stereotype that all gay people are creative and thoughtful was solidified into a genuine urban myth. Somehow it was assumed that being gay is a substitute for hard work, humility, talent, and perseverance. Hire a gay writer and success is assured. Success is earned , not by your sexual orientation, but by the time and dedication you put into your work. I’m sure that the vast majority of gay people (adults) would agree. If a large majority of people, or even a small minority of people have comments about your work, you stand more to gain seeing if you can find some truth in the comments, and improve your work, than you do insulting everyone who doesn’t like it. Accepting constructive criticism is part of growing as person. If your work draws the wrong kind of attention to it, and you think it was genuinely your best effort and important to do, don’t apologize. But don’t blame those who didn’t see your effort as deserving praise. It’s goes with your chosen profession.
I said this in another comment, but it bears repeating: The audience not shoveling down the slop they're trying to feed us, doesn't make us 'haters' or 'toxic' or whatever now-pointless buzz-words people want to throw around - we *want* good, new entries in the IP's -- **multiple** times you've proved your writing's crap- take the L, & maybe in a humble moment you could actually *listen* to what's being said, *repeatedly* : you are getting _basic_ stuff *_wrong_* - basic storytelling stuff, basic film stuff. No Star Wars fan _wants_ anything to fail - they want good stories -- no Marvel or DC fan wants a DC or Marvel project to fail - no Tolkien fans want a LotR/ LotR-adjacent project to fail -- what they take exception to isn't 'newness' or women writers, or leads - it's poor choices, weak reasoning, the insanely vitriolic campaigns against *_any_* good-faith critiques- honest, but fair reviewers being lumped in with actual haters, & stupid, straw-man arguments...
We need an apology from Disney since Episode 9. "Anakin and Luke brought balance to the force and defeated Palpatine? ... No! Rey, the HEART of Star Wars, did it!" 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Looking at this positively, I’ve been saving so much money with all this bad media I’m not buying. Dune and Shadow of The Erdtree are the only recent media I felt compelled to pay for
This is the absolute best critique of The Acolyte, Amandla and Disney Star Wars as a whole that is on RU-vid. It doesn't venture into conservative politics and actually avoids the -isms and -ists that many of the people who scoff at the notion are actually guilty of. The issue is indeed the quality.
And today in "Amandla Summons Demons"... There is no way she managed in 72 hours to fly out to Brooklyn to film this, appropriate some hood culture, and then scuttle back to LA to finalize vocals, sound, edit, sync, load, prep lawyers, lodge copyright, etc etc. Not authentic. Whatever. If DIS fires her she can always get a job in the next Vikings series.
Here's a challenge for anyone who has, or is thinking of, taking over a long-established and beloved franchise, and using the established brand name as a platform to push a specific non-narrative agenda: how about writing and creating something ORIGINAL, of your OWN imagination, and use THAT as a platform for whatever agenda you wish to push - but - and here's the difficult bit - make the narrative of your own new creation so compelling, so absorbing, so GOOD that everyone wants to watch it, REGARDLESS of the agenda. I.E. focus on the story, characterization and basic believability of the narrative; the consistent, motivated and logical character actions; and an overall cohesive unfolding story that never jolts you out of its immersive world JUST to signpost an agenda item. You want to write a new story and populate it with black, female, transgender, 'fill in the blank' challenged characters? Fine - NONE of those character aspects interest me (which is exactly as it SHOULD be - we are ALL equal regardless of those aspects!) - but make THOSE characters compelling, likeable, consistent and you will have a guaranteed hit (I will likely be a fan) - rather than just lazily ruining everyone else's beloved brands and then accusing the ever-diminishing audience from your OWN paranoid sense of oppression just because we think your output is bad.
Amandala Stenberg grew up with a rich white daddy and has never had to struggle for anything in her life, has apparently been working for Hollywood since she was a teenager. Let that sink in. So, not only is she not a person of color, but she has no idea about the "struggles" she's talking about. Classic.
Another banger. This is becoming my favorite culture critique channel. Uou nailed it when uou said that despitr being a liberal you enjoy the company of people to thr right more. I feel that so much (stupidpol is my favorite subreddit, though the mods have kinda sucked lately). I've appropriated the "general holistic shittiness" line from yoru last video and will continue to do so.
Same. I'm a lefty and I find it near impossible to find anyone on the left now who isn't a nutbag extremist. So many people I knew have shifted far left. I find I have more in common with centrists and centre right these days than the far left crazies.
Honestly, she doesn't know how to act/perform well, how to sing or how to dance correctly. And she is still a star with many opportunities. Why is she complaining about everything ? She made my day. I laughed so much.
Imagine not knowing that The Wire had Omar and Kima, both gay, both black. Imagine forgetting that The Sopranos critiqued homophobia with the devastating story of Vito. Two of the greatest shows of all time. The arrogance with these modern creators is extraordinary.
That "song" by Amandlashamadamadingdong was such a word salad that I think she could play Kamala "Heels Up" Harris in a biopic. She'd be a perfect fit! **giggity**
It really is an extraordinary cultural narrative, but it's about more than just Disney. We're in the tail end of a period where there are all these streaming services competing with each other, and the investors backing them don't care about losing money (as least not as much) so long as the streamers can accumulate large enough customer bases. They're all trying to become the entertainment version of Google, and they're doing it by making all these incredibly expensive productions that are supposed to be prestige and high quality. I think Headland recognizes how extraordinary it is that she was allowed to make a television series with essentially a blank cheque from Disney. The budget was whatever it needed to be, and the end result of that creative freedom was the Acolyte. That's the narrative. We're in this small window of time where a tiny group of creative people were given all the resources they needed to film whatever they wanted, so long as it made the streamer they worked for look good. And this is what they made.
Ironically, anyone who grew up in a dogmatic, overpowering religious context instantly recognizes the strategies attitudes and reactions demonstrated by these actors and show makers. They in turn don't see their own hypocrisy, like the acolytes of those religions.
Amandla Stenberg is basically saying 'You can't touch me I'm a narcissistic poor little rich girl, whose white daddy didn't get me the right colour pony , so to get back at him I am now all black, and I can do whatever I want , the Harvey Weinstein P.A. told me so' let's face it the Acolyte is just gay fan fiction that represents a tiny percentage of real Star Wars fans, and they truly wonder why it's failing?
Poor half Danish girl with millionaire parents that never had a hard day in her life that "acted" in the so far most racist and hateful series ever produced. Because someone said they didn't like the hate propaganda she "acted" in.😭
If Stenberg had hoped that ANYONE would take her little "diss track" seriously she might as well toss those hopes right out of the window;we fans have been subjected to worse (they've been talking death threats about SW Theory as of late),we're used to it at this point. The humor is that she actually thinks that she got under our skin,by gyrating wildly and "singing" in such a low voice she had to put subtitles in her video. 😂
