These were all all-stars who became scrubs or retired after the same surgery as amares
@ahaji thats the reason howard is the most underrated player. everyone says he has no post moves or jumpshot. yet last season you could see him spinning baseline, sinking mid range shots, and of course dunking on everything.
dwight's offense is improving every year and he will eventually get to a high level prob not amares level of offense but dwight still leads the league in dunks every year... amare is too gifted he makes 80% of his free throws and makes 15 footers and jump hooks and dunks on everyone
Dwight Howard is averaging more points and dunk, but Amare is averaging more blocks and rebounds. Dwight may be more powerful inside the paint with his size and leaping abilities, but Amare is more versatile with his mid-range shot and passes. Both are good, because both are different types of big men.
Look at Grant Hill man hes had injurys his whole carrer. When he came here he has never felt better his whole life. Thats how Shaq is going to feel when he starts playing because we do have the BEST training staff in the league.
Amare plays with Nash, while Dwight plays with Jameer. Think about it. It isn't because Nelsons bad, but because Nash is so ridiculously good. Give Dwight Nash and you'd see 5-7 alley-oops a game.
yea... i would give it to Dwight now but that is only because the STAT had 2 arthoscopic surgery on his knees. If dwight had the same injury and surgery, i don't think he will be half as good as the STAT. Watch the old Amare clips pre-surgery. He was unstoppable
That's a dunk if Dwight Howard doesn't get lazy and uses his body to put Amare under the basket. It's a great play by Amare, don't get me wrong, but if Howard catches the ball, pivots more toward the basket, and uses his body to push Amare under the basket, Amare can't stop that move.
amare is better, but all of you saying that dwight howard doesn't know any post moves, it doesn't really matter hes still getting all star numbers by using his strength
For the people who keep saying they would take Amare over D12 in a draft are nothing but a bunch of homers. Just looking at the stats D12 dominates Amare in most catagories. And Howards game is still developing. No way anyone in their right mind takes Amare over Howard in a draft.

Heck yeah Dwight has more range. Didn't you see him hitting bank shots earlier last season? Plus Howard has the running hook. When Dwights under the rim, he has focus that most bigs have now: Slam It or Block It!!! But yeah, Dwight does lack some post moves and only seems to move in one direction majority of the time... Still, he's making progress....
@ahaji dwight is the better post defender, a better offensive rebounder, defensive rebounder, help defender, and bigger presence in the paint... and remember, defense wins championships.
I wouldn't say "every aspect of the game". Shaq was very big, strong and active; possessed good footwork and very active plus, I'll give the bonus of playing college ball. However, Dwight is more athletic, quicker and still adding to his game. And, believe it or not, Dwight shoots a better FT% plus has a little more range than Shaq since he's been working on his jumpshot. Dwight is starting to pass out better but he is still pretty one-dimensional... either way, I think he's getting there...
See Amare is time enough for Dwight, this isn't the only time he's blocked a Howard dunk, he's blocked his dunks every season they play and even in All Star game.. Howard isn't fucking with Amare
he may average more but amare goes up faster dwight avgs more minutes and he is the only inside presence and main defender in the paint for the magic. Shawn marion is a blocker avg more than 2 and brian skinner o.o
Yea I recall now. Im a Suns fan too but I know that if we dont win a championship this year the Suns chance of winning a championship is over. Shaq is too old, Nash is old, Raja is old, Grant is old so yea their all in their mid 30's. I just wish the ebst of Amare in the 2010 free agency. Hopefully Amare he goes with LeBron to the Knicks.

I would take Amare all day over Howard. Amare is a more versatile player. Howard plays one dimension. Amare has (if not better) the same defensive as Howard, and he also can shoot from anywhere on the floor. Unlike Howard who's points will come from the paint every time.

Amare is better on offense, Howard is better on defense. Period. End of discussion. I'd still rather have Howard if I were putting a team together. There's a good chunk of guys that can get you 22 and 8. Only one will give you 21 pts, 15 boards and 3 blocks damn near every night. Dwight DOMINATES the paint. You can't say that about Amare. He's more of a 15 foot player with a highlight dunk mixed in.
What are you talking about this trade is only going to make this team better. Yeah we lost The Matrix one of the best perimeter defenders. But we didnt need him as much as we needed a big man like the Diesel. And hes going to cause a lot of double teams and thats going to free up our shooters.And Shaq through out his carrer has played prety good against the other bigs in the West. Now we are trying to get another small forward since we did lose Shawn.
Dude David Robinson and Tim Duncan played on the same team when Sahq faced them. Either one of them were centers. Shaq would dominate Howard on every aspect of the game, Shaq had better overall stats his rookie year. Howard barely reached those stats last year.
Tim Duncan isn't a center. Also, wasn't David and Ewing mainly known for scoring and rebounding? Anyway, Shaq would give Dwight trouble in his prime. Shaq had more muscle, bigger frame and was very active. But the game isn't how it was when Shaq entered the game. All anyone can make is comparisons & assumptions since Shaq isn't in his prime anymore and Dwight hasn't really reached his prime yet (imo). Howard does things Shaq did then: score inside, rebound, block, etc. which is why I said that.

I'm from orlando and I still hate how dwight fans conveniently turn the other way whenever dwight elbows someone in the face or when another player is just plain better than him......I still think dwight is a great player but there are, in my opinion much better players out there and dwight's fans have to stop being soo ignorant!

Dwight Howard is a beast of a defender, a much better rebounder, and controls the paint. N you get him close to the basket and it's automatic points. Howard has a 60% FG% and gets at least 1 free throw to drop most of the time. I'll take Dwight as my center any day of the week
no there is a big difference, grant is at exactly the same numbers he has averaged for the last 2 seasons. he has simply maintained what he has been doing for the past few years. shaq's career is on an obvious decline, his numbers have dropped consistently over the last 4 years and DRASTICALLY this year. if the same thing happens with shaq as happened with grant and he just maintains the path he has been on. you will get a horrible player
amare can average 26 and 10 if he gets enough touches but you cant say that about howard. but still if i were to build a team, ill still build with dwight

Dwight is younger, more athletic, and is an amazing player on the defensive end. Amar'e is almost up there in age, not as explosive, and has knee problems. If Amar'e didn't get that micro fracture knee surgery, he'd be better
You obviously don't know a lot about basketball, I watched the finals, and I saw one guy carry the entire Laker team. Any guesses on who it was? Celtics are an all around better team, with great offence AND defence, in fact best defence in the league. Thats a different case. But if you take two Highschool or University teams, one ONLY good at def and the other ONLY good att off, the offensive team is going to win. Hands down.
Amare never not even once averaged 10 rebounds or more in a season. The Suns have enough scorers so I'm glad to see him leave.Let him fail with the Knicks. As far as Howard is concerned He's not the scorer that Amare is and no hes not going to be the next Shaq but he is the best rebounder and defender in the NBA.
