Here is very uncommon 8" Vertical etched label Record sold by the Crescent Talking Machine Co, circa mid Teens - 1920,. Not very many Crescent records were sold, and in addition to this rarely found Etched Label record, they also produced a line of Lateral Groove records with a paper Label. The also had a line of their own phonographs as well. This record is being played on the Solophone Phonograph from the same era, with the Sound Box on the Vertical setting. The Selection is "Amarella " a Tenor Solo record number 2042.

I wasn't expecting it to sound so clear! It sounds just as clear as an early vertical needle cut Vocalion.

I never seen a record like that! Amazing quality considering its age. Very clear!

These were produced for Crescent by Operaphone, and they duplicate material found on etched-label Operaphones. Operaphone went on to produce records with paper labels (8"), while Crescent turned to Pathé for their 10" discs.

I've never heard of this label before, if I had come across it I would have thought it was some sort of Zonophone subsidiary or something, with it being an etched label and so small.
