Oliva Connecticut Reserve one of my favorite cigars. It is mild but the construction has always been flawless with amazing burns and tight ash. I really enjoy it every time.
Perdomo Champagne 10th Anniversary, Matilde Serena, Undercrown Shade, and Macanudo Inspirado White are all some of my favourite Connecticut wrapped cigars. Wish we could get some of these that you mentioned in Canada - especially the Sobremesa and the Rose of Sharon.
Hey Tim, I smoked my first cigar in 1958...at age 14, my access to quality cigars was non existence, so I, like many my age, began my smoking experience with King Edward, Roi Tan,Red Dot, etal. It didn't damage my appreciation for cigars at all. Mike Mason
Ashton Classic Churchill was my first lesson of instruction. Solid Stick for starting out. Mild, smooth, creamy from foot to head. A little pricey but worth it for the consistency in this cigar. I've moved into the Perdomo world and the Champagne 10th Anniversary reserve is a knock out for the developing pallets.
Sobremesa Brulee Blue! Flavor bomb and pure elegance! I just can’t help but take a look at it after every puff! Its the Connecticut that I compare every other Connecticut. The benchmark Connecticut in my opinion!
My top 3 if you like a more medium-bodied ct shade with more complex flavour profiles 1. Perdomo 10th Champagne 2. Perdomo Habano Ct 3. My Farther CT which I find so creamy but also complex as it transitions.
I started with connecticuts also. Absolutely FELL IN LOVE with the Romeo y Julietta Reserva Real with the blue band and I’m always surprised that no One talks about it. Absolutely amazing.
I really love the macanudo Brazilian shade, perdomo lot 23 Connecticut and Camacho Connecticut. The last one is the one I started with and often return to it. Moved on to other ones after about 1 years and currently my palette I creeping towards Habano wrappers.
I actually started with the Punch cigars, then went right into the M 81 Blackened by Drew Estates. I've since branched out to the Pappy Van Winkles, Maduros, The Judge. Yet I always go back to the Blackened's.
Like most, I started with CTs then went on to darker and heavier strengths. Yrs later, right back to mostly CTs (mix in occasional Sumatras & Cameroons). I need that time to truly appreciate the nuances that make the good CTs really special!
I can retrohale the entirety of Southern Draw’s Rose of Sharon. It’s like a toasted marshmallow on a cinnamon graham cracker. Every puff makes me stop what I’m doing and look at the cigar and admire it. Another good and slightly cheaper Connecticut is My Father Connecticut. I could totally smoke 1 a day for a year and be happy.
Ive been smoking cigars for like a decade now and the Lot 23 Sungrown is what made me fall in love with cigars. Still hits the spot now. The Connecticut and Maduro versions are great too.
Oscar 2012 - I did my own little smoke down with this and the Rose of Sharon. Both excellent cigars, but I gave a small edge to the Oscar. Henry Clay Warhawk Brickhouse Double Connecticut - Very much enjoy this one for a more budget conscious cigar.
As someone who was introduced into cigars with a dark heavy Drew Estate Undercrown, I started with a light Connecticut cigar and worked my way to medium Connecticut blends and that's where I live. I do like a strong dark Maduro from time to time, but Connecticut blends have my cigar lovers heart (Especially if it has coffee flavors in any way).
I started with Connecticuts but very quickly found that I prefer the more bold cigars. I do find myself in the mood for one on occasion. I haven’t tried many so far but I do really like the Baccarat The Game.
My first cigar was a Connecticut, made it through the first 3rd and put it down then lit up a Maduro and finished it to the nub, I fell in love with cigars that day. I haven’t been back to a Connecticut yet, I need the strong full bodied cigars but you’re making me want to give some others another shot.
601 Black with Ecuador Connecticut wrapper is my favorite when it was EO Brand. Lots of pepper flavor. Too bad Eric and Eddie can’t get along these days.
The first Connecticut shade I had was a Montecristo white series Churchill. It was actually the first cigar I ever had and I ruined that thing lol. The second time I had it, I actually enjoyed it, pretty consistent flavor profile. Now I personally like the nub Connecticut. It’s pretty punchy for it size but not too rough for it not to be the first cigar of the day and has a very slight sweetness.
Had my first white series Churchill this morning and debating if I should get a box (on sale for 60 right now). But champagne 10yr anniversary is the best for my new palate!
Ashton magnum white label was my first cigar and stayed there for a year or two. My favorite Connecticut cigar now is the Perdomo 10th anniversary champagne or the Camacho
Perdomo Champagne 10th Anniversary and Arturo Fuente Seleccion Privada No. 1 are two of my go-to Connecticut right now. But I'd have to say the one that really WOW'ed me was the 'Montecristo Linea 1935 Leyenda'. Cedar, creamy coffee, and Cardamom. That was a surprisingly pleasant flavor I was not expecting.
When my son was born in 2020, I bought my first two cigars to smoke with my dad. At that time, I had only heard about Cuban cigars and chose the Cohiba Siglo I. I had never smoked anything in my life, but it was a great experience. From time to time I continued to buy, the next were Partagas D4 and H.Upmann Half Corona. Here in Brazil, the volume of counterfeit Cuban cigars is very large and I decided to buy a sealed box of 25 H.Upmann Half Coronas. The box is dated April 2023, I smoked it in May and found it too strong, I felt sick. I found it much stronger than the Half Corona I smoked previously. I kept the box in the humidor with boveda 69%, I won't open it for at least 6 months to try it again. Until then, after watching all the beginners videos from Cigars Daily (thank you Tim for the great work and contagious energy), now I bought these for my ultra beginner taste: - Ashton Classic Monarch - Oliva Connecticut Lonsdale - Tabak Especial Dulce Robusto - Davidoff Signature No. 2 Tubos - Acid Yellow Cold Infusion Tea 6"3/4 * 44 - Acid Blondie 4" * 38 - Acid 1400cc 5" * 50 - Perdomo Champagne Magnum 50 Tubo 6" - Macanudo Cafe Crystal 5"1/2 * 50 - Arturo Fuente Hemingway Best Seller Natural 4"1/2 * 55 - My Father Connecticut Robusto 5"1/4 * 52 I can't wait to spend a good time with each one.
The Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 is my favorite Connecticut shade. I also really like the RP White Label, though it’s much pricier. Best time for one of these is in the morning paired with some good coffee. In the evenings I’m usually going to something with a darker wrapper though.
So, the first Connecticut cigar I ever had was a Macanudo Cafe and I found it to be pretty good but pretty quickly I went to stronger cigars and now I love Maduros. But not so long ago I tried and introduced my wife to the SD Rose of Sharon and we both adore it.
I really enjoy the Oliva Connecticut Reserve and see it as a daily smoke for me. Seems like no one ever mentions it anymore. Not sure if it is not that popular or what. The Oliva and the Perdomo Champagne 10th Year were the first two cigars I tried and they continue to be a stable in my humidor. Hope everyone is enjoying their cut and a light.
Cigars not mentioned in the vid: Patina is my fave Conne Shade just from a taste perspective; if I want a little more strength, my second fave is La Joya de Nicaragua. Connecticut shade is not my top go-to style but I do love the 20 Acre Farm, Highclere Castle, Rose of Sharon and all time favorite is the Sobremesa. One stick that definitely needs to be recommended to new smokers who want something light, airy, creamy and very sweet (budget Sobremesa?) is La Aroma de Cube Elegancia. It is a style I will almost never smoke but it is excellent tasting
War Hawk, Undercrown Shade, and Antono CT are my go to right now. The desert rose also excellent. But the most unique CT I've ever had was the La Madrina from Dapper. HIGHLY recommended
The first Connecticut cigar I had was a Cuban Rounds cigar. Broke all to pieces as I smoked it. I smoke Camacho Criollo and Southern Draw Rose of Sharon now.
I've smoked every cigar on this list except the 601. For me, the best connecticut out there is the 2012 by Oscar Valladares. The flavor, consistency and price is unmatched anywhere. I really enjoy the Brulee Blue, 20 Acre Farm, and the Highclere Castle but they are all almost twice the cost of the 2012.
I definitely started with a Connecticut and have been trying a range of mild to medium including Hanson’s and Maduro blends. Your videos and shared knowledge have been helpful with my experience
I don't know what it is but I absolutely love diesel cigars. The Unholy Cocktail is packed with soo much flavor in every variety. Connecticut wrappers are pretty tasty in the morning with my coffee though!
I am very new into my Cigar journey. What I have found so far is that a full flavor has less flavor for me, than that of most of the Connecticuts that I have tried. As an example, while I do not pick out specific flavorings as of yet, I found a more satisfying experience and taste from an Oliva Connecticut Reserve, vs an Oliva V Mad, or the Oliva V Melanio. Apparently (at least for now) my palate is backwards. LOL
My delivery partner loves the new Partagas Conneticut Cortado. got 4 of those sampler sampler packs from you and my favorite brick and mortar store and I only got to smoke one of the 8 because he hogged the other 7 to himself. I didn't mind because the San Andreas was quite nice as well.
Just had an undercrown shade toro. Was amazing. Creamy with notes of honey and some oak flavor blast. The burn did not ash til half way through and it was a perfect burn. Had to post pics on your Twitter page of it. Didn’t even ash after I took wrapper off😳
I tend to enjoy a fuller profile first thing with my few cups of black coffee. A couple hours later, midday, I find myself looking for a creamy Connecticut to pair with a root beer, a cream soda, or a bottle of cold water, maybe glass of non-sweetened iced tea. I’m looking forward to trying that Southern Draw…Rose? Rose of Sharon? I’ll have to go back and watch the video again and write the name down so I won’t forget. I agree about the RyJ Reserve, it is a very satisfying smoke that get a lot of hype but people seem to like it.
I started with Romeo y Julieta and have gone on to smoke mostly maduro wrapper cigars. I like Perdomo 10th Champagne. I smoke that Connecticut the most.
I've only been smoking for a couple of years but I have never been able to tolerate a Connecticut. My first cigar was a Perdomo 20th Anniversary Connecticut and I couldn't get the cigarette flavor out of my head. My second was a CAO MX2 (double maduro) and that's where my love of cigars began. The darker the blend the sweeter they are to me. I've smoked a handful of Connecticuts since but I don't seem to find enough flavor to make it to the final third. I'm currently smoking a Diesel Wicked by AJ Fernandez and it's like magic. That being said, I'll smoke anything that's given to me.
I just started over the last couple months and still just trying stuff. But I'm new to the tobacco world so I'm definitely a light weight when it comes to strength.
There are just too many great cigars out there to pick a favorite, but for connecticuts i find the Rose of Sharon makes it into rotation at least once a week.
Much like pilsner beers, conneticuts are under-appreciated for their simplicity by those who overlook the painstakingly delicate process it takes to create a premium finished product. Or perhaps a vodka parralell would be better. ...or a single barrel/malt. I find them particularly nice for a round of golf, or anytime when the sun is out and the weather is hot. Anyway, I'm going to remain skepitcal that the Brulee doesn't have a sweetened tip. That being said, I love 'em. Perdomo's 10th, The Rose of Sharon, Davidoff no. 2 (which is probably considered dissapointly smooth to some), and perhaps the RP Vintage '99 to round out the my top 5. Honerable mentions to Comacho, Tabak (love the Cafe con Leche), and the macanudo cafe.
I agree w the masses: Perdomo Champagne is the greatest CT stick out there. Nothing beats it! Consistently stellar in flavor, complexity, construction.
Industry killer Rs88 by Sanj Patel has become my go to Connecticut . @ $7 for toro & Lancero sizes it can’t be beat. Also Rico Barato Connecticut is one of my faves😎
This is funny to me bc I did this EXACT evolution. I started off loving Connecticuts and that's all I looked for. Now I love the bolder smokes. Julius Caeser, Liga H99, almost anything Foundation, Aganorsa Supreme Leaf, West Tampa Red or the Attic, Micallef, New World Dorado...just to name a few. I've never had any Dunbarton though. My shop doesn't carry them.
fairly new smoker her, and i have really enjoyed the Aladino Connecticut Robusto, very unintimidating, but smooth and creamy, with enough flavour for me...down to nub
They're both the same thing. People don't say "drop a like" for clout. They say it because it boosts the videos place in the algorithm. Which commenting also does since they're both interactions
Oliva Connecticut Reserve my first ever cigar and I think you were the one that recommend it. Great Connecticut mild/medium so creamy one of my favorite sticks
I recently started on the cigar journey,, and so far my #1 fav connecticut is also Perdomo 10th year Ann Champagne. The problem for me here in Canada, is that they are very hard to obtain currently.
Sometimes I think I got lucky or the stars were aligned but I really loved the Lot 23 by Perdomo. Clearest example of honey and cream flavors. Haven't seen it since in any of the local shops around me sadly. Would like to know if I just got a really good batch or it's that consistently good.
Had my very first cigar yesterday!! I bout a fee in vacation which i just got back from, but i wanted to buy another, so i got me a Oliva connecticut at a lounge, sat down and smoked it and wrote about it, id say it was Great but it also could have gone better with the light up, Cant Wait For The Next! Also i might have to bring some bourbon next time
My favorite Connecticut’s partagas cortado Rose of Sharon Camacho Connecticut Oscar Super Fly AJ Fernandez New World Connecticut I can’t wait to try the high cleric castle
