I like to think that this particular Zinogre not only endured Ibushi’s storms, but was also one of the first Zinogres driven away from its habitat by Amatsu
I actually think Amatsu has the power to _start_ a Rampage-like event and perhaps even control monsters through supernatural means. In Sunbreak Stories Vol. 4 (posted on the official Monster Hunter Twitter account) we can read the letter Kagero wrote to Yomogi but never gave her. In it, there's one line that points to this possibility: "And the monsters around it, as if _whipped into a frenzy by the serpent_ , attacked as well." (italics for emphasis) I think this Apex Zinogre may have been controlled by Amatsu after enduring its own storms, but the Stinkmink that Utsushi used to lure it to the Infernal Springs (note the white smoke coming from his body) somehow broke the control, and when the Zinogre recognized the foe that stripped it of all autonomy, it attacked out of rage and spite. For Amatsu, the conflict was to inflict punishment on an unruly minion.

The reason we're able to ride this Apex with Utsushi seems to be as follows - as the turf war ends, the Wirebugs that denote a Wyvern Ride is ready descend on the Apex Zinogre. It starts to shake them off like all other Apexes do, but Amatsu smacks Apex Zin again before it can completely do so. And I think in a normal Wyvern Ride, three Wirebugs fly around a monster - here, I counted six, hence the need for two riders to control it at once.

0:43 Have you guys notice Apex Zinogre actually enters the Mountable State when it gets up from the turf war. But it removed the state immediately just like other Apex monster. And then Amatsu slaps it again makes it truly enters the Mountable State. I love this details.
This entire fight is full of pre-World fanservice, what with how they play the old item-pick up tune whenever you grab an endemic life during this quest. Apparently if you start grilling a steak they'll even play the older grilling theme.
Monster Hunter P3rd, Zinogre, Amatsu, and the SWAG AXE are ultimately cemented my love for this series. When this turf war went down I literally dropped my controller, jumped up, and cheered like a madman! Gods bless you Capcom!

From this turf war. We can see that Zinogre(Apex, at least) has really good reflex and power, even against Elder. And there's no way that it's a coincidence that the Zinogre is there in the first place. Since even after arriving, not only did it not back off, but instantly prepared itself, as if this is was the Zinogre's intention
well, Zinogre and Amatsu has some history, on MHP3RD, Amatsu are the reason why Zinogre lose its home and attacking Yukumo village. as we can say, Amatsu are Zinogre's archenemy.
@@Nematoda4ever I know. This Zinogre might even be the one howling at Amatsu in P3rd depending the time. And it's not like the Amatsu in P3rd is the only Amatsu in the world
@@stygiandragon3865 on Lore, its probably the one that drive Zinogre out from its home, just like Fatalis on World are the one who destroyed the kingdom, even tho on game we already killing Fatalis on MH1 or FU and we already kill Zinogre on MHP3RD.
@@Nematoda4ever Iceborne Fatalis retconned the lore, apparently the Guild never saw a Fatalis before, so any encounter before Iceborne is non-canon and more of a "what-if" As for Amatsu this is definitely a separate Amatsu. Iceborne already tells us there are multiple Alatreon (the lorebook further tells us that another was spotted at Sacred Land), so it's also possible for there to be multiple Amatsu. Fatalis the only exception, of being only one of an entire species (so far)
@@silentprotagonist3786 its not, there's crimson fata and white fata, crimson are fatalis who live in harsh environment like volcanic region, white fata are the matured black fata, so there's multipe fatalis, there's no retconned the lore, there's different Fatalis out there, it just Guild havent seen one since fatalis mostly just chilling on their territory, and ancient civilization got wiped thanks to white fata and take over their tower, and thats long before black fata destroying the country.
Apex Zinogre showing up during the hunt and having a turf war was the best fucking thing I saw in a while (in terms of turf wars)! THEN TO RIDE AFTERWARDS?! Even taking over Amatsus theme?! Curious to if the other monsters that could show up has a theme takeover like that!
No theme takeovers for the other (CGV). I actually like the detail going into how you need both you and Utsushi to ride the Apex Zinogre, but also how Apex Zinogre was so shook from getting piledrived that he couldn't fully shake off the wirebugs.
Look i really love the all mother narwa fight and how magna interrupts it, but this just goes to show how anti climactic it felt that magna and narwa did not have a turf war like this
I guess the only argument towards this is I guess zinogre and amatsu lorewise have beef. Then again magnamalo still I imagine would have reasons to be aggressive towards narwa
Apex Zinogre like Thunderlord is known to be able to fight Elder lvl threat lorewise and hold their ground, and this is one of the first instances where it's shown.
My favorite monster of all time really shined in this game. I was losing my mind watching this for the first time. Followed by going through water blasts, lightning strikes and tornadoes to thrash Amatsu while riding this beast. Stay the best Zinogre.
I would be awesome though if zinogre stayed and helped you throughout the fight because of the lore about how zinogre got kicked put by the mountains by amatsu
I like to think that this Zinogre was the one that Amatsu drove away from its habitat, and now, after becoming stronger and harden by nature, came back for vengeance, like: Zinogre: Hey, storm lizard! Remember what you did to me? TIME FOR SOME PAYBACK! Amatsu: Oh, so you, a mere insect, wants the smoke from me, a god, huh? Ok, COME CATCH THESE WATER BEAMS!
at least, Zinogre can get its revenge against Amatsu, bet that Apex Zinogre already waiting for this moment after getting kicked out from its own home by Amatsu at MHP3RD.
Since Amatsu makes storms and thunder Zinogre can turn into an Apex this could be the Zinogre from the MHP3 cutscene fighting Amatsu now Apex because of its battle before.
I don’t know what made this turf war more legendary. The fact that it’s the first time we’ve seen an Apex monster in a turf war, or the fact that it’s opponent was a an elder dragon powerful enough to be called a god. Next they’ll probably have a arch tempered Ruiner Nergigante turf war one of the three highest of monster Gods, Fatalis! This turf war was downright historic!!

Zinogre is my favorite monster (obviously) And I struggled a lot against Amatsu, I played very very safe so I didn't do a lot of damage, and once it enraged and the theme switched, I thought I wouldn't be able to finish in time (I was at like 25 minutes) Then Utsuchi goes to fetch a monster and I'm like "You better bring something good" Then custscene, then the apex zinogre appears, then the theme reswitches to Zinogre's, and I'm like "GO MY BOI FUCK HIM UP" Best fight ever
I *HATE* that we only get to see this scene once in our own playthroughs man...... this and watching Fiorayne punch the hell outta Gaismagorm! We should be able to see this sequences whenever we want.
i just finished this urgent quest last night and that turf war is sooooo fucking awesome! i wonder if thats the jinouga who is staring at amatsu at the start of MHP3rd
Just when I though Capcom couldn’t possibly top Malzeno and Scorned Magnamalo’s turf war... they surprised me. In fact, they did more than surprised. They exceeded expectations! Very cool and badass moment. But I think it speaks for Amatsu strength, that one of strongest Apexes can only so much as scratch him, before he gets his ass handed by him. Mind you that Amatsu is already pretty hard beaten down by the hunter. I think he around 30 or 20% health at this point.
Nobody. This was the absolute *perfect* way to have one last acknowledgement of Portable 3rd, letting Zinogre finally get to take a crack at Amatsu after all these years.
Bro it’s so well made, first zinogre gets the drop on amastu and they battle until zinogre pounds them with they’re electrified hand, zinogre wall runs to lure out amastu’s beam. Zinogre now having an opening leaps at amatsu but sadly is brought into the sky and slammed down, winning amatsu the battle. It’s scenes like this which make me love this game
@@TCforests even if you play solo you need to bring a AI partner with you and that partner has to be Master Utsushi, if you want to definitely get this turf war.
Essentially what happens afterwards is: "Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a human." "What about side by side with a hunter?" "Ay, I could do that"
