In Episode 6 of our 6-day long survival challenge, we begin, like every other day, on an archery deer hunt. We follow this up by checking our live traps for raccoon and find some success. The day is topped off with some fresh made apple cobbler including acorn, and maple syrup. We do a deep clean of the cabin, and inventory all our extra wild foods which Jeremy will take home to use in his "big wild year." As an exit meal, Steve, mushroom expert, prepares wild mushrooms, and goose medallions cooked fresh inside the cabin. We weight ourselves to see if we've managed to balance our calories during the survival challenge. My Gear (Shop and Support): www.fowlersmak...
FULL SEASON 6 PLAYLIST: • Season 6: The Wilderne...
In this 6-day long survival challenge, we test our limits, skill, and ability to maintain our body weight and thrive only eating wild foods that we scavenge, forage, collect, trap, hunt and fish, in and around the cabin.
Jeremy (One Wildcrafter): / @onewildcrafter
In Episode 1 of our 6-day long survival challenge, we settle into cabin life in the woods. First we wake up to a squirrel hunt, which was supposed to be an archery deer hunt, just without deer. We spot a turkey, but it won't come into our mouth calls. We give the raccoon call a try without much success either. Afterwards, we take a walk on our 40 acres to check our baited live traps set for raccoon. We are using a combination of haveahart-style traps and an Advanced Trap which can catch all kinds of big animals up to the size of a coyote.
We collect wild or feral apples and also show you how to prepare black walnuts for eating as a wild edible. We finish the day off with wild apple cobbler made fresh with maple syrup and leached acorns. This entire season is about homesteading, but we are also looking at collecting as many wild foods as possible in order to send Jeremy home with some surplus foods for his "big wild year."
We will pursue all kinds of wild animals including beaver, raccoon, skunk, whitetail deer, squirrel, possum, crow, grouse, duck, goose, pigeon, porcupine, bullfrog, fish, bear, apples, black walnuts, wild grapes, burdock roots and whatever else makes the mistake of crossing our path.
We will use a variety of tools including live traps, bows, crossbows, shotgun, and fishing rod.
Our ultimate goal of this survival challenge is to not only survive, but thrive. We aim not to lose any body weight, but instead look at this challenge as a long term situation where calories in need to match calories out, sustainability.
Season 6 of our Wilderness Living Challenge will take place out of our homestead, off grid cabin complete with solar power, and battery bank system in order to help us make more use of the foods and resources we are able to collect.

Homestead is the win. Shelter is important but pre-stored staples in wood and especially food (rice, bear fat and maple syrup). So much fun and great to see how much a difference a cabin and some minor prepping does. Thank you gents

Full stop, enjoyed the series. I would honestly like to see a big group of you guys working together on a longer challenge. Like Jeremy, Fowler, Chris Thorn, Bob Hansler, the hidden woodsman, etc. A big group of you, heading out, like a group of trappers from the 1700s, building a huge camp, bushcrafting, and hunting everything in a few mile radius. That would be a hell of a sight.

I had to go back abd watch the cabin build a second time and watch the 7 day survival challenge and I do want to say... he had 3 jackets on, and 2 pairs of pants along with his heavy boots on at weigh in. I don’t think he lost, I think he either stabilized or gained by 1 pound. There’s no way he lost 3 pounds with all that gear on in the beginning. I love you guys! I love what you do, I’m from Boston Massachusetts and I’ve been up as far as Maine Fort Knox bunkers and the Saco River floating down and camping along the way! I would only love to live off grid! It’s been a dream of mine especially in Alaska. I dint know much about Canada although it’s very intriguing to me! All I ever done was fishing and lots of it lol. I want to hunt and eat and grit my own food. Living off the land is just ideal to me. Anyways 100 thumbs up 👍🏼 guys! And no no you didn’t lose in my POV!

@williamnelson4066

You probably dont use the same pan for extended cooking, they kept adding to the pot there was no cleaning inbetween. That will definitely blacken your food. I have had that same occurence in cast iron with several hours of usage. If you cook certain things or for an hour you might not ever see blackening of your food. After too much blackening of the food your food begins to taste of cast iron...here they are pushing the limits lol

Very admirable. Even in city/urban life, you can still eat so healthy, avoiding all fast food/junk foods/processed foods. It originally becomes a challenge, but then, such an enjoyable way of living/diet, that you don't even want a "cheat meal/day". If you can't catch/hunt/trap game, there are many grocery stores with 50% off eggs/steak/pork/chicken/turkey/lean ground beef/liver, etc. My wife and I prefer red and sweet potatoes for carbs, as opposed to processed wheat, rye, barley, or rice. Lots of good fats, even including animals fats. Every vegetable/roots imaginable. We stay away from sugar, even fruit, as fruit has been classified as "Nature's candy". And, lots of herbs and spices for health. I usually cook with, at least, 14 herbs and spices in every dish. Plus, lots of beef, chicken, and turkey bone broth, for amino acids, and lots of vitamin and mineral supplements. Have not been sick for years, But, yes, always make sure to have a Flu Shot. Please, don't be prone to conspiracy/superstition theories. Just keep it real. Believe in yourself, your partner/family, the goodness of the world, and avoid the trappings of errant and ludicrous beliefs in religion or the supernatural.

love watching your vids, especially with Jeremy. this series however lacks the flair of the previous ones. Maybe it's because I live in ontario and this seems like out and about with your buddy. possibly also because you've done well and it's less exciting lol anyways keep up doing what you do Chris!

I do understand the point of how this challenge differs from the previous ones. it is pivotal to have your shelter and means of cooking before starting out. well done fellas! the mushrooms and goose looked pretty amazing. great job again.
