AMAZING ALPINE LAKE HIKE in Rocky Mountain National Park | CHASM LAKE Hiking Guide | Colorado
Chasm Lake is one of the many amazing alpine lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park. What’s so unique about this alpine lake is that it sit right below the tallest peak in the park, Longs Peak. Located at 11,760’ above sea level you can embark on an 8.8 mile hike to Chasm Lake from the Longs Peak Trailhead. You’ll hike through forest, alpine tundra, across waterfalls, rock scrambles, and an elevation gain of 2,542 ft before you arrive to this gorgeous alpine lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. My dad died on Christmas 2018. My dad wanted his ashes taken to Chasem Lake so My Uncle Scott took my dad ashes and put it into Chasem Lake as his final resting place. He loved hiking this trail. I hiked up this trail with my dad many years ago. Rest in peace Christopher lampman/dad.

If you do this hike again, I suggest you do it earlier.... Hike with your flashlight shining so you can arrive at sunrise. Longs Peak diamond will glow a bright orange just as the sun appears. It is incredible to witness up close. I hiked to the top of Longs Peak four times and to Chasm Lake twice. Those hikes created terrific memories I will always remember.

Yessss the horseback riders!! That’s my favorite way to explore. 💕 Hiking is a close second. I wonder if they were my cousins who were just there! Lol 😂 🧐 it’s hard to tell from the video and with their helmets on.

Not during the time we went, but if it was earlier in the season with snow on the trail, I would have definitely had my crampons.

Hi. Another nice video. We are arriving at Denver this weekend and we are planning to visit the park beginning next week. The recreation.org say there's no ticket available but they open on previous day at 5PM extra tickets for the next day only. I tried this week and if you are fast it's possible to get it. My question is regarding the hiking, we never did this before so we are concerned if it's too hard for us. I saw some old people on the top in your video what made me feel more confident, LOL

Hiking in the mountains is much different. This is a high altitude hike, and many of the people I saw that were older, lived in Colorado and are use to high altitude hikes... since we live in the environment. I don't know where you live, but please understand that hiking 8.8 miles at sea level, is drastically different than hiking at almost 12,000ft above sea level. If you have never hiked in this environment I would start out with a much smaller hike. Not 8 miles! If you do decide to go, please be safe and know your limits, turn around if you don't think you can do it. Have an amazing time in Colorado!

@@JeanieMarie I just read your reply now when we are already back from Colorado. We did exactly like you said, we went to flatirons first and since we felt OK we decide to go to Chasm Lake three days later. And we got there and it was amazing. Thanks

This is from Longs Peak trailhead. Not via the main park entrances but you are supposed to have a reservation if entering during peak hours.
