I actually oddly enjoy the “boring” part of traveling like organising everything. Finding places to see, things to do and then booking everything.. There is such satisfaction afterwards when everything comes together finally. 🙂

So just wanted to say I'm loving your "from the beginning" play list and I'm enjoying the boring days because I feel like they are honest. You're giving us a real view of the challenges of doing what you're doing. Watching your travels are so encouraging to me. Your positivity has been an encouragement to my marriage and family life. It's causing a ripple effect in my family. Thanks for that. You are also helping me overcome fears of leaving the U.S. I have always assumed that it was unsafe to travel abroad as an American because of all I hear about how every other countries distaste for Americans yet you are giving other countries a good taste of American kindness by trying to learn their language and respectfully learning their customs. Just wanted to drop a note saying that you are sent by God to encourage me and you're doing a fabulous job!

Congratulations, Nate, for owning the problems. Congratulations, Kara, for patting him on the shoulder -- having support rather than blame makes a huge difference! Thank you, Kara, for fast-forwarding through the explanation of all the things that Nate accomplished during the long work session: it got the point across that he did a huge amount of work but it's done now.

You guys are my absolute favourite RU-vid channel I have ever come across for many reasons. But one of the main reasons are that you guys are so honest and real with your viewers. I am really glad Nate is realizing how all over the place in doing things he has been lately and just needs to slow down, breathe, don't stress about having to book things so the vlog is fun and interesting, it usually is and you should book where you guys want to go, not what you think the vlog and viewers want to see, they will watch you whatever you choose, just do it smartly, in advance and research and plan as much as you can ahead so you will always know what is going on.

You guys are doing great at last-minute planning, which is incredibly challenging on a limited budget. However, once the situation becomes stressful, especially in circumstances like yours, I would ditch the idea of Air BnB and get a hotel nearby, even if it was expensive. This could be similar with flights, if time was too short for optimal planning. The stress out abroad is more inconvenient than dollars difference. I would then, plan in advance to minimize experiences like this in the future. This advice is for everyone who is reading this. I am a big fan of this channel, and I learned a lot from it. Thank you Cara and Nate.

Loved it when the street vendors packed up and left. They have lookouts who warn when the cops are coming, and they just fold up and disappear! I've seen it happen in Bangkok. I used to see it quite frequently in Taiwan.

Mote con Huesillo, is a very Chilean desert which is made from barley cooked together with peaches, all at the same time, it is very good and I think very healthy too. One of my favorites. It is hazy in Santiago aside from fires this summer, it is because it sits on a basin, just like L.A., the Andes on one side and the coastal mountains on the other, it does have a pollution problem but has come a long way since the 80s which was pretty bad and buildings would vanish a few blocks away, large buildings, but that is no longer the case. The people are very friendly for the most part. Peruvians joke that the food in Chile is the worst, but I never had that problem eating at my grandparents house and we would eat many dishes, specially for lunch. Breakfasts is small, lunch is big, and dinner is small. Then you have tea time, from the English a tradition they brought in the 1800s in the mining industry, at around 4 pm but people usually have espresso or tea with cut cheese, salami, etc., and some Chilean pastries which are very good too. My grandfather would smoke his Cuban cigar every afternoon and take a nice nap in his very nice living room afterwards. I had good memories of Chile. You did miss congrio which is not a fish but an eel, it is expensive but very good, they look similar to a fish and can be very large, that is considered the best fish type dish in Chile, served with fresh squeezed lemon. Taste a lot more like fish and nothing like you would expect an eel to taste like. Chileans are always very curious what foreigners think of their country, so they can try to improve it for the next person. Sorry about your toe, for the most part Chile has pretty good sidewalks compared to other Latin American countries but needs to improve in some areas. Really enjoyed your videos on Chile. You make a very nice couple and great tour guides. I think they don't have law suits in Chile, so sometimes it can go to the other extreme, the hole in the sidewalk, I think is to turn or the main water or the meter, since everything is concrete it is a little hard to do it otherwise, normal for a Chilean, not so much for a tourist, but they listen. .

I book everything weeks ahead for my wife and I's 5 to 7 week holidays - sometimes several countries with planes, trains, buses, ferries and hotels/airbnb's.

I've found that in booking travel itineraries and activities, you chart your overall activities, then organize things in detail chronologically from the beginning, but leaving plenty of leeway in case things go wrong. Some people like to make their arrangements in reverse chronological order, but that causes more problems.
