If I'm not misstaken this band was totally unknown (or only known locally in Finland) when they uploaded this video. Soon after they where playing at the big rock festivals in Europe. I saw them in Sweden Rock Festival (I think it was their second concert totally) in front of 7000 people (the smallest stage, at noon). They didn't believe their own eyes when they saw all the people that wanted to see them. Regards from Sweden Ulf
I'm not sure if you noticed, but that was LIVE... there were no cuts from the moment the lawnmower dude came, all the way until the show was over.. :) Ps. yeah, i would like to see them "live" live someday :)
Saw them play a pretty smallish (400ish people) venue in Lexington KY in 2019... One of the best shows I've ever been to. These guys are massively talented... What a killer show.
Nightwish, Wintersun, Steve 'n Seagulls .. what next? Maybe something like a band with just 4 cellos? Apocalyptica playing Nothing else matters... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mjvGjUovxPU.html
Instruments (in order of first appearance): Banjo, spoons (drummer), bass violin, accordian (loving known as a "squeeze box"), mandolin (lead vocal). dummer switches between spoons and drums. Its a metal song put to bluegrass.. only things missing are a washboard and moonshine jug! lol
I saw them live at Himos Arena in Finland few years back. Awesome musicians and really fun to watch and listen. Good wibes from start to end! They really seems to enjoy what they are doing. 😊👌
Steve 'n Seagulls, Wintersun... and many thousands of great bands comes from here. I mean Finland. If you want to check out more finnish bands, you'll have to prepare to spend at least 3 years at the PC, cause we'll want you to react all of them ;)
@@TomTuffnuts We have many great bands, but most sing in Finnish. If you're willing to try, start from Don Huonot. A good starting song could be "Ruoski minua", my ex-boss doesn't speak a word of Finnish but he loved the song.
The singers' name is Remmel. The drummer is Skubu. Jamppa plays the double bass. Hiltunen is the guy with the accordion. Herman plays the banjo. They have their own website. Lots of fun Bluegrass covers!
That is the current line-up. In this video still Pukki, bass, Puikkonen drums. These two guys left the band in 2019 only two months apart, Pukki on June, Puikkonen on August. No dramatics as fas as I know. The new guys are awesome too.
The style of music is Bluegrass. These guys do covers in their own style. Check out some other clips, all great. November rain is great for instance. They also tour!
Yes, they are great. And their interpretation of "November Rain" is so atmospheric that you feel the autumn mood in reality. Something difficult to convey in words when you are going to a country house with friends in the fall and you want to sing melancholic songs, drink moonshine and talk about life slowly.
These guys were invited to play in Perth, Australia for a creation of 'Highway to Hell'. They closed a highway to do it and multiple bands playing in vans riding along. Best part was interpreters signing AC/DC🤘
I discovered this band and song years ago thanks to the mighty (and confusing) YT algorithm, but I never get tired of seeing new people react to Steve N Seagulls!
It's just about picking the right wench from your toolbox, I think they're using a n. 17 and of course with any other wench it'll be completely out of tune
😄 Dude, any band that has a dude on banjo, another on spoons and a third on anvil gets my vote every time 🤘 AND no illusions of grandeur another turns up for the gig on his ride on mower 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, they do play live! Some great banjo? Check the Dead South, In Hell I'll Be in Good Company :) And another awesome cover of Thunderstruck: 2 cellos
If you need to hear some great accordian music, check zydeco music of South Louisiana, Nate Williams, Clifton Chenier, Rockin' Dopsie, Lost Bayou Ramblers and many more
Steve 'n' Seagulls has released four studio plates and have a new music format. Seagulls’ Nest, where Finnish musicians are visiting the hosting of the band and they also play music together. with the band. It is definitely worth checking, ..... 😍 A person who has received Healthy from Finland, ... 👍 🥁 🇫🇮
Great thing about these guys is that they are so likeable and humble. I saw them last June outdoors and November indoors in Helsinki, walking distance from where I live. Had a chance to talk with all of them for quite a while on June. They were selling their merchandice between two 45 minute sets, 9+9 songs, one encore. Remmel gave me his setlist after the concert when I asked for it. Skubu, the drummer still remembered me when I talked with him in November after the concert. I bought a S'n'S T-shirt with a pic from the cover of their newest album. Seagulls' nest series with a couple of songs with a guest + fun and games, on Thursdays I think, on their YT channel, subscribe and please join the chat. I think it starts at 8 or 9pm Finnish time. When you say hello, and do tell where you are from, they usually answer and wellcome you as much as they are able to. I think it was the latest episode that was with some rally driving. A professional rally driver gave them a good ride, on snow.
They are really great at live too. They got idea for their name from Nightwish - Wishmaster Misheard Lyrics video. You can watch it, but I need to warn you, you will never hear the correct lyrics again. And if you want to see some awesome accordian playing, check out Netta Skog. She has been with many metal bands (*) after she won Golden Accordion competition in Finland at the age of 15 or 16, playing Nightwish - Dead To The World: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-quSs_Ef4L94.html She is also a digital accordion world champion (*) As a member in Turisas and Ensiferum, and as a guest with Children Of Bodom and Nightwish for example.
Another unique group you may have a look at is the The Hu. A Mongolian Rock band incorporating traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing. Music Videos, need captions on for these. - The Great Chinggis Khaan - Wolf Totem - Yuve Yuve Yu They also had the main track in an EA game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - The Hu Music Video
Accordeon and polka music... you need to hear these guys do their polka version of Pantera’s Cemetary Gates. They do tour the US every few years, even played at SXSW a few years ago. But their Iron Maiden covers are great (Aces High, The Trooper) and so are the Metallica and Guns’n’Roses covers too (Seek and Destroy, November Rain etc). They’ve even covered Nightwish’s Wishmaster 😉🤘
Seen then two times live and seeing them this summer in Tampere again just makes my day, Just seeing that joy of music on the stage, just wonderfull!!!
You were dissin' them big time at the beginning, Tom. Then they BLEW YOU AWAY!!!! Never judge a book by its cover. That's why they've got 130,000,000 views. Talent, quirkiness, creativity ... they've got it all. LOL
As a musician myself I understand that you can do just about any good song in just about any genre. These guys do great Bluegrass versions of great rock and roll songs. Now let's reverse the situation, and I would suggest Leo Machirolli. He does metal covers of all the great rock and roll songs. I love the dichotomy, great reaction, keep up the good work
If you want to see these guys with songs and some fun around, they have a cgannel valled Seagulls' Nest. They're like hosting a visiting artist in their training place they have in the middle of forest, a small towe of a tree house. They made the show, the hut and the channel now in quarantine time, and have made 4 videos now this winter and spring.
It would just be so cool, to listen to these guys on a summer day, and a few beers on the table.. actually i think they sometimes just step up in a park or something and start playing, also there is another guy singing to in the band, i think its the Banjo player, and well these guys did a lot of cover songs, hilbilly style!!
How you call it? "good musician having fun!" oh the name of the style "rockgrass"! I call that fun maddness and i'm one of these madmen having fun with my 5 strings banjo... it's good to be gently crazy mad!
Yes these guys are great. And if you like that your mind will be blowned away. Please try the same song with 2 Chellos. They will absolutely blow your mind. =0)
If you want another amazing cover(no need for a reaction) try 2Cellos doing Thunderstruck LIVE (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZM6Y5Mi4fNE.html). These 2 kids took the Cello and its lessons to a whole new level, every parents nightmare (LOL)!!!
Good evening Tom.... You just reminded me of another cover... "2 cellos" covered this... Its a pretty good instrumental cover done by, for rock, unusual instruments....
yes Steeve n seagulls do concert and CD but they are finish in the same style from america there is "hayseed dixies" ( like steeve n seagulls is a pun name on the actor haseed dixies is a pun nam on "ac/dc" that's very rockgrass mentality!
I knew this one would get ya ....Reaction ??? To Funny !!!..You should hear Thunderstruck by 2 Cellos ...if you like this youll love 2 Cellos Bring Sarah for it this time
They’ve got epic covers for Metallica, Iron Maiden etc and also…Nightwish! Unfortunately there’s no good quality video on their take on Wishmaster to react, but the audience recording from this concert is still worth watching: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yT7LoVVgauU.html
When I saw they cover Wishmaster, I was: Of all their songs you picked that? GET OUTTA HERE, can't be done! But in their style, they kind of did it. Not among their best covers, but hat off anyway. Proved me wrong.
They, the bassist, (both the current and the previous one) sing a song in French, "ANTISOCIAL", it's dope. They are popular in France too. They had a tour planned for the autumn 2020, 38 gigs in 56 days, in several European countries, a dozen or so in Germany for example. Cancelled due to Covid-19. S'n'S performed on tha Nightwish Cruise. They have covered the Nightwish song "Wishmaster". The bassist, Pukki, in an interview after The Cruise was impressed by the 'new' Nightwist vocalist Floor. I do not think he was talking only about Floor's ability as a singer.
There are lot of quite excellent covers by them - as well as a few own quite decent enjoyable pieces. Perhaps 'Nothing Else Matters' next - or 'You Shook Me All Night Long' - or ...
Who want's tho be their roadie, and carry the anvil? Oh - and that accordion:"Most full-size basses either 120, or, less commonly, 96 . All notes in an octave are covered by both systems, so you can play in any key. When playing with the bass , you use all fingers but your thumb, which should stay on the board on the side of the ." You may learn that in few days...
If you like this type of cover, you MUST react to Walk Off The Earth. They use all kinds of things to make music, from giant bells, to pool noodles. They are great. Some good ones are Ole Town Road, 5 peeps 1 guitar, and many many more.
They do have gigs. They're Finns, but they have toured USA - here's a video of born to Be Wild, from their Houston concert: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LQPQ3AYV_rY.html
Tom, if you want to hear another iconic song covered in a very unique (and brilliant) way I suggest... Sweet Child O' Mine - NESCAFÉ Basement II Think underground and college musicians from Pakistan with traditional instruments added to the usual western rock instruments... Well, worth a listen!
