Welcome to Atop the Fourth Wall, where bad comics burn. In this episode, Linkara returns to Chik-Fil-A's comics about cow superheroes! atopthefourthwa... Originally released July 30th, 2018. ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Beef with freezerburn.
Cow: "I must save my people by convincing the humans to eat more relatives of the penguins that saved me. That will surely show my grattitude to them."
Frozen in a thunder storm, conscious and encased in a block of ice, found and freed in the arctic, involves penguns, a battle on a boat...are we sure this isn't just some animal retelling of Avatar: The Legend of Aang?
Pio Nepomuceno It's actually Avatar: The Last Airbender. Some people retroactively call it The Legend of Aang to fit with Avatar: The Legend of Korra, but the first series was more focused on the impact of Aang's entire people being killed because of what he was and what it meant for the war that was taking place.
Where I live it was released under both titles, or at least for the DVD release. It switches between the two, and in some cases the box says "Legend of Aang" while the menus and episodes say "The Last Airbender".
Cows: MOO! Mr Burns: Smithers, are they mooing me? Smithers: Um, no. They're saying "Moo-urns! Moo-urns!" Mr Burns: Are you saying "Moo" or "Moo-urns"? Cows: MOOOOO! Curds Mooman: I was saying "Moo-urns".
I can't wait until we get to the issue that goes deeper into Shoto Cowdoroki's backstory, where we learn they have control over fire as well as ice, but refuse to use fire out of rebellion for their father Brazen Bull, and his attempts to sire a cow whose steaks always come out perfectly cooked.
There actually is a Military Discipline cow from the same promotion that started the other cow heroes. His name is Leatherneck, doesn't have any powers but gets the job done anyway with military intelligence. There is also a Kowrate.
Yeah the cows telling people to eat another animal (especially this comic where the hero was literally raised by birds) doesn't really work, but at least these are creatively weird.
You're more concerned about where the penguins got the suit? I want to know why would they have a cow suit that has boots with space for human shaped feet, and yet she can ware them with no difficulties or inconveniences whatsoever.
I was startled at first by how short this episode was -- and then I realized it was a very silly advert comic for a chicken joint and understood a bit better. Always glad to see the "now they're radioactive! That can't be good" joke come back. XD And yeah, for what it is, it's a very serviceable story -- I actually wouldn't mind seeing the human AU you suggested in action. Certainly be more poignant than "moo."
I remember these comics just today and this was my favorite of all the Super Hero Cow Comics because of how emotional it was for me as a 10 year old. Now looking back on it, it's weird and silly and I know that but I just couldn't help loving this cute simple story about a cow that was raised by penguins after experiencing hardship in her life. It's just a fun time! :')
Yay! Another Cow Hero comic! I'm the guy who sent you the Speed Steer comic in the first place(though I can't remember if there were other comics in that stack), and I'm glad you also see these for the so-bad-it's-good goofy fun that they are! I own nearly the whole collection, and each one is a delight to read. Can't wait until you get to the team-ups!
Oh Dear Cod!! They're gonna kill all the humans and eat their Livers!! Either that or send 'em on a slow boat to a person named China. I don't really know for 100% what penguins do to the humans they don't like. I work for Penguins myself. Also; yes. I am going to enjoy the ice-cold sushi I'm going to have for breakfast! ^^
4:36 - Jiminy jillikers! Watching a cow fall off a boat and go overboard DOES (ironically, I can't unhear the cartoonish mooing while it happens) sound like fun!
I'm not sure if Cartoon Network made any Cow and Chicken comics, but I do recall Cartoon Network Magazine having a few Cow and Chicken stories in the comics pages. Speaking of that show Cow had a superhero alter-ego called Super-Cow (who spoke Spanish, but spoke English in the Spanish version) and one episode had the Red Guy trying to find out who Super-Cow was as well as an episode where it was revealed that the source of Supercow's power was her blanket.
Fun fact- when I was but a bab, still in elementary school, and obsessed with paleobiology, a devoted player of EVO: The Search For Eden and constant rewatcher of Walking With Monsters, yet oblivious to western comics (I watched the Krypto cartoon, though), I somehow independently created Captain Amphibian, who was shockingly similar to Captain America for someone who nothing of the latter. Captain Amphibian was a very OP Amphibian- in EVO, you can give your Amphibian something like wings, and horns, and she had both. She was frozen in ice, but was eventually awakened by global warming around the same time a revolutionary technology that could divide carbon dioxide into carbon and oxygen was discovered- and the increased oxygen in the air allowed Arthropods to grow to the size they were during the Carboniferous, and they began to attack us vertebrates, and then Captain Amphibian and the Ichthyostega Gang fought against the evil arthropods! It was dumb. Really, really dumb. But I thought it was the greatest fucking idea anyone had ever had at the time.
In the dark age rendition of Bovine Heroes, the penguin friends of Cold Cuts end up as a key part of TV-Dinners - all because of her mission to make people "Eat more Chiken". Depression and a road to redemption begins, in which she turns against cow-kind and helps the birds free their fellow flocks from their Bisen Overlords.
Lewis Lovhaug, have you ever thought about doing an "Atop the Fourth Wall Bingo" at your next Live show? Every time you use one of your running jokes or tropes, they cross off one space.
You know... if Cows or animals in general in the cow super hero universe are intelligent, then that universe starts to sound a bit like the Oddworld universe, though more lighthearted and cartoony.
Why am I craving chick fil a all a sudden? Also ironic that your doing this considering I told my husband last night stealing one of the chick fil a billboard cows is on my bucket list.
*The following is the opinion of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it! Decided to ask him where those penguins got COLD CUTs special suit!* [EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "Not many people know this, but those Penguins had a prophet who predicted the coming of a creature frozen in ice that gains cryonesis, so they raided local abandoned research stations to acquire materials with which to create a special suit for this great hero with the power to create instant snowman & give penguins fancy top hats! Also, there are more Alfred than Robin! Don't worry about THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD FISH. It was hunted down by a team of SEAGULLs trained by ACOPETO to hunt down and incinerate that invasive alien species with beak mounted flamethrowers!"
Hey could you review Spiderman Reign. It's a comic from Marvel that is basically a spiderman version of Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns. But it features Mary Jane being killed by Radioactive Sperm from Peter. But the best part is that in this continuity, One More Day didn't happen Also I can't do what you called a "patreon sponsored review" for this comic since I don't have patreon
Congrats Linkara, a super powered cow that is centered cold and ice and you didn't make ONE Frozen joke. It would been so easy to do that, but you didn't kudos.
This reminded me of Last Summer when I went to Lancaster County and went to a supermarket called Oregon Pike Farms and they had singing electronic cow that sang Let It Go
So you have an amazing mutant cow with astounding ice powers. Your plan for when you capture her is to... Slaughter her just like she's any other cow? Damn the meat industry has a one track mind.
simple they gotten it from the cow superhero suit store which there located in any part of the world so if a cow gotten super powers they can get a suit just like that
I’m disappointed that there weren’t more mister freeze jokes and that cold cuts wasn’t referred to as captain americow, but still a damn good episode. :)
Linkara: This comic is fucked on more ways than you think. If you eat more chicken you have to kill more animals per meat. Well played Amazing Cow Villains!
