Fantastic find. Can't wait to see them fully restored. Brilliant I'm excited. This video may be old, but I'm just coming back to you after a break from RU-vid.

Confession: I built two garden terraces with stone retaining walls and was struggling to fill them with soil...when I remembered that I needed to get rid of an old car muffler and so other "inert" junk. In they went at the bottom. Then covered in sand followed by planting soil on top. In a few decades someone will take them apart and think, "What nutjob did THIS???" That would be ME! :-D

Buried treasure! Always interesting to dig around in older places never knowing what you will find (as long as it's not someone's remains, that is).

That’s amazing I just pulled an old Belfast sink out of my garden. Unfortunately not is a good condition, it went to the skip. Mine was also under paving stones beside a small garden wall. It must have been the think to do back in the day.

Great videos as always. We are tackling an old building ourselves at the minute so your videos are always good for reference and moral when the place looks like a bombs hit it! Where did you get your floor board lifter from? Can't seem to find one like yours too easily. Thanks. Damo.

I just discovered your renovation videos. My dream has always been to buy an old house and restore it back to what it was when originally built, within the current building code limits. I have seen footage of the home improvement craze that swept Britain in the 1950's. It is sad when you see beautiful Victorian and Edwardian fixtures like your banisters and those gorgeous sinks discarded. I would love to find stuff like that.

I can remember my dad planting one when I was a young lad but this was upright. We then planted mint! This was to stop the mint from spreading. My job on a Sunday was to pick and make the mint source. But all that was back in the late 50s early 60s. Good memories. Great videos

Can I ask what model of Karcher washer you're using? I'm thinking of buying a K3
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 7 лет назад
No idea to be honest, will have to check. Think it says K3 when looking at footage. Bought it in Tescos years ago and only use it now and then. Fine for car, patio and light duty stuff around the garden.
@ZanderKaneUK
@ZanderKaneUK 7 лет назад
mikefoxo @ that price point you might want to consider the nilfisk brand instead, £ for £ they have more flow (litres per minute, get stuff done quicker) higher bar/pressure (5 - 10, get more ground in muck off) more kit in the box as standard. Nilfisk entry machines have metal pump heads whereas Karcher are plastic. Never heard of Nilfisk? They're an industial company more know in the mining industry who diversified into the retail market. Also look at the default warranties Nilfisk has a 2 year when I got mine, Karcher has a 1 year.

out of curiosity: What did you do with those? :D

Wow!!! Once you pressure washed them they looked great!!!
@willsirett3870
@willsirett3870 7 лет назад
How mate, what pressure washer would you recommend for some general yard-work, blasting off some muck on patios and cars etc?
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 7 лет назад
Well this one is a simple Karcher domestic version and it does the job for general cleaning. It must be one of their cheaper models as I bought it in a supermarket years ago however fine for most stuff. Someone else mentioned Nilfisk have a better build and value? Petrol versions are king for really heavy duty work of course.

when you first started digging up the basins, I though "Oh No, its a plaque, and the former owners loved ones are interred there!" HA HA

We have a similar one in our kitchen already and I'm sure it wasn't as heavy as these, they are certainly heavy duty!

wow ! what a GREAT find. I hope you re-used them. You can not get your hands on these kinds of sinks anymore. All is made with light weight and flimsy.

I'd agree with Toby Barker - BUT sod's law (especially with topsoil) there's never enough room to store it before you need it Grrr!

Had the same experience in my house in Bristol (built 1880s) : was digging/landscaping my garden when I came across 2 'Belfast' sinks....Not sure of their monetary value? ebay? Are you thinking of reinstating any of them? Cheers Tony
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 7 лет назад
Well we still need to build the utility so that's one. Also thought one under garden tap for washing veg and dog, etc. So possibly one to sell to help pay for the skip, otherwise I see a fancy duck pond coming! perhaps with some brass taps? :-)
@tonydeltablues

yep, use any way possible. On my daughter's suggestion we made on into a 'frog bath' at the bottom of the garden!

Haha what a find! That guy who owned the house before you must have been absolutely bonkers. How long have they been buried? Surprised they didn't crack with all that possible movement of that raised patio.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 7 лет назад
50 years plus. Apart from an oil tank that raised section had no obvious purpose. I think it may have just been a way of using up extra sub base from the drive as that's all it was filled with.
