Amazing Exotic Bird Colony Breeding - Basic steps for a successful exotic bird breeding

Water is a key ingredient to their well being, has well with us too! I hope to see the new set up for the cockatiels. In the wild in Australia these birds are in huge colonies by the thousands! Your bird colonies and their habitat look beautiful! Just a little tip; pls add some natural branches of differing widths, so that your bird’s claws and joints stay mobile. Having perches of set width may result in arthritis later in their life, because some may choose to stay in the same place and not exercise the joints in their feet by perching on branches of different widths. Also, natural bark on branches will also help to wear down the claws and helps you stay on top of keeping them the right length. Overgrown claws also can cause arthritic and mobility issues for the birds later in life. But overall, you have done an amazing job of making sure that these birds have what they need to have not just a good enough life, but a great life! This is very important for animals who are being kept in captivity. They should be able to have a life that closely matches the one they could have expected, had they been born wild. In fact, I dare say that the life expectancy of your birds should surpass that of one of their wild cousins and should be much less stressful for them.

I highly suggest putting some moringa branches with just 5 inches in length and letting your African love birds peel them and put them on their nest boxes for nesting materials that method was being popular mostly among the veteran breeders of African lovebirds...Happy breeding

1. I think I saw a Personata in your colony. Personata x Fischer results to hybrid chick. Hyrbrid breeding is not for beginners. 2. The downside of colony breeding is you can't provide the needs of a pair with chicks. You have to change the food of a pair with chicks so they can feed the chicks with nutricious food. You can't do that in a colony style breeding as birds without chicks will feast on whatever food you will put in your cage. 3. Instead of fast breeding you will notice that there are pairs with one chick only. The parents will feed the chicks, regardless of the number of chick/s, for 6 to 8 weeks. Fostering the eggs or chicks might help but you have to monitor the date when the eggs are laid or the date of hatch. There are pairs that are good for fostering and there are pairs that are not.

As mentioned by you sir it's applicable by all types of birds. For may own opinion its a No. As I see to your birds, there are many mutation. It's really hard to identify there line of breeding. You must focus on same mutation per colony.

It's really hard to identify the parents when your young birds goes out of the nest box
