13:23 It's called "Kohila in Sinhala and "Lasia Roots" in English. Very high in fiber and antioxidant capacity. It is used for the treatment of various diseases including hemorrhoids, intestinal diseases, stomach pain. Most vegetables you find in a traditional Sri Lankan meal have various medicinal and therapeutic uses.
@@myertravelsLasiya Roots it’s good for your digesting..❤ it’s very healthy and dilutions mean in Rasai ..❤ thank you very much for visiting our country 🙏🙏🙏
Those curries that were in the pots must be newly cooked ones because here in srilanka especially in shops they cook new rice, curries everyday and put them in pots then customers come and choose whatever they like and eat. By the way we watch you from Srilanaka. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Alway enjoy the places you take me in you vlogs. Stay on the outside is where the true essence of the people and culture is. Nice. As always Myer. Thankyou.
Hello bro, man you mingled so well with locals. Welcome to Sri Lanka, take care and enjoy, if you are still in Sri Lanka. "No growth until you leave your comfort zone", I like it. 😊
wow Mahara is my living area😍 but its not a tourist town btw. you should visit downsouth beaches, trincomalee, batticloa, Kandy , Ella , Mandaramnuwara, Anuradhapura (and the list goes on and on😂)
19.18 is not food its called betel leaf its kind of a addiction but its total legel. Most of old people chew this you can try but for couple of hours you will not feel the taste of food. this think wrapp with tobbaco and corelpowder after eat this your mounth will become red colour in india its called pann i think
@15:16 rice n curries sitting around for a few hours in boutiques wont get spoiled due to the method of cooking. It takes 3-4 hours atleast to make a good meal in bulk, so they have to make in advance. The eateries dont sell spoiled food or they wont have business next day. If the customers fall ill after a meal the public health inspectors will take action. Vegetables are generally very safe i dont know about roasted/ barbecued meat as I've never tried. Bdw the place you ate rice n curries from is a famous chain selling authentic srilankan meals
First of thank you for promoting my country. The vegetable that you had for lunch is called Spiny Lasia ('Kohila') even though it tastes a bit strange it got a lot of nutrition. Enjoy Sri Lanka and please visit again. Incase if you have an idea of visiting Tokyo let me know. I will definitely buy you a lunch or dinner.
I think most Sri Lankans find you as a native & think why are you speaking in English to them. Please tell them that you are not a Sri Lankan prior to ask something. Because you just like Sri lankan
Don't worry brother. Sri lankans very scared to give bad food to some other person. Because they think it is a sin against as Buddhist. So eat well. Welcome brother ❤
Brother I think only the tourists are using the words for thank you good morning afternoon like that in Sinhalese. All sri Lankans are using the English words.😂
Lasia is a meat substitute--it is interesting that you said it tastes like meat--Trader Joe's uses Lasia rool for products with meat subs. Each item on your plate had unique and high nutritional value. That was a very healthy meal. I am glad you finished everything :)
Yes I felt healthier after eating it, and it’s just amazing to go down the street and get such a nutritional meal for 2 dollars. In the US it’s nearly impossible
LIVING BEING IS OUR RACE,MANKIND IS OUR RELIGION HINDU,MUSLIM,SIKH,CRISTAIN,THERE IS NO SEPARATE RELIGION ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB PRESENT MESSENGER of ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ 🙏🙏
WE CALL "KAPRUKA" ANOTHER NAME FOR COCONUT TREE, BECAUSE WE USE EVERY PARTS OF COCONUT TREE, EVEN YOU CAN SEE THE ROOF OF THE RESTURANT HAS BEEN MADE FROM LEAVES OF COCONUT TREE
American, other foreigners eat using the hands. Also these Sri Lankan people cook 2 hours before lunch and they use fresh vegetables and ingredients. In India they don’t even cover the food in the street. Mainly in north parts of India they don’t use actual fresh ingredients. American can understand the English even the local English b/c their first language is English
Most of the people you ask for clues might have thought that " what the heck ... is this a prank?". Their look clearly says that 😂. May be just because you look like a Srilankan. Lovely content though ❤
In Sri Lanka you must check halal or not bcz halal foods are only available in Muslims shop , most of the other religions shops are haram . So plz be careful … I’m from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 ❤
It seems like buffet and you must serve yourself rather than serve by woman 😅 I believe that slightly similar to Arab food. That woman doesn’t speak any English it’s shame, I have notice most of the people speaks English, have good day mate
