Unreal 2004, as well as pretty much every other Unreal title, is still playable online with the help of community supported projects. such as OldUnreal for UT99, OpenSpy for UT2004 and UT3, and UT4 Unofficial Update for UT4. Just wanted to let people know
Turbo overkill. It gives you a chainsaw on your knee. And guns. It doesn't stop giving you toys to play with, while somehow being more violent than doom eternal (definitely one of my favorite fps so far)
Holy scheiße, incision looks SICK. And that soundtrack! I’d never heard of it til now. Wow thank you for sharing that. Good on ya, m8 👌 A few to add if you haven’t seen/tried yet; - Forgive Me Father - Cultic - Amid Evil All absolute bangers with great art styles, most of which are cheap. See what y’all think!
Hey, just so you know with UT2004, I'd like to remind people of a quote from a person that makes Tim Sweeney need medical care for his insane amounts of butthurt, and that's Gabe Newell saying "Piracy is a service problem.", combine that quote with a little ol' thing called OpenSpy, and it's like UT2004 never got mistreated by Epic.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS. As an ultrakill centric creator people need to realize that ultrakill ain’t the only good movement shooter and people should try other games
I tried playing half life 2, kept trying to press 2 to pro boost with the shotgun everytime i was in a fight, 2 is not even the key for the shotgun in half-life, it's for the pistol and revolver
Not a first person shooter but one that needs to be mentioned more is VANQUISH. It’s basically everything people like about fps games combined with Japanese action games
I like Trepang2 more than ultrakill, and is one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion. The combat and movement mechanics are so well designed, and it feels so satisfying to master the game's mechanics. There is a surprising amount of depth to the combat and movement in the game, while also being topped off with the best gun play I've ever seen in an FPS. Seriously, the shooting, reloading, and sound effects are just top notch. Once you get a firm grip on the game's mechanics, you'll find yourself going crazy in the arenas. Shotgunning guys down as you're in focus, then backing off with cloak as you slide hop away for a reload, you grab an enemy from behind as cover while headshoting the last few enemies down with your pistol, and then you snap the captured guy's neck to finish the fight! There's just something so beautiful and methodical to Trepang2's gameplay, and It's something that I cannot find anywhere else. It's one of the greatest movement shooters ever made in my opinion, and you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing this masterpiece of a game.
I personally got bored of trepang after like 2 dozen hours, the combat is kind of basic, espcecially compared to ultrakill. I love how in ultrakill youre not confined to one playstyle whether you choose to play like its quake on crack or using stylish and over the top tech.
@raccoonperson1216 The combat in trepang is absolutely not basic. There's a variety of gun strategies like one kill headshots with the pistol, weak point sniping with the DMR, and pure well timed dps with the shotgun. Learning how to properly manage your cooldowns is also very important. Slide hopping around the arena while invisible to take a hostage, you activate focus while holding the hostage for good protection, you then shotgun 3 enemies while in focus, to where you then snap the neck of the hostage. The wave isn't over yet though, there's a jugg soldier and 2 normal enemies. So, you reposition, go invisible again, grab a hostage, and thow him as a grenade to blow up the the jugg's tank weakpoint and the other enemy. You then walk up to the jugg, activate focus, and shoot him and the head with the shotgun while strafing around him for the final kill. The player expression in trepang2 is also amazing. For example, you can throw a flash bang into a group of 4 enemies, go invisible, grab an another enemy as a hostage, and throw him as a grenade into the 4 stunned enemies. The explosion kills the 4 enemies, which charges your focus, so now you can easily clear the rest of the wave. So the claim that this game confines you to one playstyle is just wrong. For you to call this game basic and claim it has zero creativity means you probably didn't learn how to play the game.
It's actually equipped with Incendiary rounds, and is the only shotgun in the game. No I am not joking. The ONLY shotgun has the power of the SSG from DOOM. The Incendiary actually decreases its damage in exchange for the power to set enemies on fire. Additionally the stock is folded out which improves the stability but reduces the fire rate and reload speed. It's not the best weapon in the game either. In fact there is no best weapon in the game because they all have very unique ups and downs, meaning you're not automatically losing out on power by swapping weapons mid fight. I'm pretty sure the game is balanced around the moderate difficulties because the hardest difficulty is brutal.
You forgot the following games like Titanfall 2, Echo Point Nova, Risk of Rain 2, Deep Rock Galactic, all of the Half-Life games including mods, and all of the F.E.A.R games including mods.
I feel like these ones are obvious but: Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury then some lesser known ones: Cultic, Zortch, Blood West, Turbo Overkill, Herald Of Havoc, Dread Templar, Postal Brain Damaged
Don't care at all for Ultrakill. Trepang 2 is the only one I bought at full price and really enjoyed it as it was inspired by FEAR and not Doom/Quake like a lot of indie FPS games are lately. SPRAWL is decent on deep sale, but the AI is very dumb to basic. At least they patched in the lore stuff into the game now.
Funny thing is that I used to play Trepang2 and honestly didn't get that far due to the game being really weird with my mouse and keyboard setup. (When I looked down, I couldn't look up or left. I was just forced staring at the ground until I restarted the mission.)
Trepang 2 was the best game of 2023 change my mind, got it on release day had zero issues, and beat it the next day, my only wish is that there is more.
I think I'd really enjoy a video about your take on cyberpunk's story especially with phantom liberty. I am really conflicted about it and would love to hear a fresh take on it.
a honorable mention is cruelty squad. You might get a seizure because of its style but its okay, also, this game has fishing and blackmarket where you can sell human organs
As someone with nearly 300 hours on trepang2 (all of its versions from over the years) its fucking amazing They are also adding a FUCKING SWORD I will also take the oppertunity to say something. No its not made to be a spiritual successor to FEAR. I don't know how people gaslit themselves into thinking this. The devs even said it themselves
@czarnakoza9697 that was the old website The devs right now don't want any of that, talked to them about it on discord It does have plenty of FEAR references, but it also has just as many references to stuff like half life, for example the HECU are a faction
@@definitelypeacock proving my point more, they promised a fear style game, but lost their vision and made a generic boomer shooter, you can especially see this in the level design (the maps changed from fear office mazes to generic open boomer shooter arenas)
Turbo Overkill is my personal go to title I'd say for most underrated fps in recent years. It's like boomer shooter on steroids with an insane amount of movement tech and amazing set pieces. No AAA fps has given me the feeling of tubro overkill before and it puts so many other titles in it's genera to shame.
Here's my tier list of all the Boomer shooters I've played so far: S tier: quake (with all the expansions and community mods without probably still an A+) A+ Tier: Hrot A Tier: Wrath Aeon of Ruin (PC version, don't the console version it's a broken mess) B tier: Quake 2 (with all the expansions) C tier: Dusk (it's very average I don't get it) Games I've tried but haven't completed tier list (subject to change): A+ Tier: illwill, A Tier: Painkiller Black Edition, Heretic B tier: Unreal( I hope this game grows on me the difficulty is really frustrating thanks to reaper bot) Amid Evil, Hexen 2 C Tier: Doom 1, Chasm: the Rift D Tier: Hexen, Quake 4 (Xbox 360 version) Multiplayer titles tier list: S tier: Quake Live, Unreal Tournament 2004 A+ tier: Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 3, Unreal Tournament 4 A tier: Quake Champions, B tier: Xonotic, Toxikk
Hey Proxidist, I would like to introduce you to the 2006 game Prey, its great for its time its got some decent puzzles, great gameplay, A good(ish) storyline, Its one of my favorite games, However its not as easy to get your hands on it anymore, I do know you can find it somewhere on the internet archive though Turbo overkill is also a really good and fast shooter with solid gameplay
i feel like ive seen a game sort off like ultrakill but more like a roguelike name : Blood Rush (demo) (you can find it by looking up ultrakill and then click free to play)
5:50, i recently found this game due to one of its soundtrack then yt began to show me /old/ videos about this game, immediately i was hooked and you can figured out how absolutely floored i am upon finding out the game technically doesnt exist anymore. Honestly, good video!!
I'd say one of the few things about UT2004 I didn't like was the game feel. Compared to UT99, the weapons sounded very weak. Also, firing at nodes and cores gives less audiovisual feedback than firing at a wall. But otherwise it's a great game. I remember when it had a very active modding community.
People really need to play CULTIC, it's a lovely Blood inspired shooter with enough unique going for it that it's not just a carbon copy. A $10 game so good I could not put it down for my entire 5 hour playthrough, I played the whole thing in one sitting, and that's a GOOD thing.
Wow that’s cool if you like these games you should check out ultrakill it’s the best thing of all time characters are all hot gameplays hot it’s a good time trust
So about Sprawl… I played the game before even watching this video and I did not have fun with it but NOT because the is bad (it’s really good) My issue with Sprawl is that for some reason sometimes I just can’t shoot or use my adrenaline, I had ammo and plenty of adrenaline. I thought the problem had to do with my mouse because when I tested with a controller the game worked perfectly fine! I don’t think my mouse is a problem either because I got a brand new mouse after having the issue (my previous mouse wasn’t that great) but I was still having the issue… so if anybody knows what’s happening then please let me know because I really want to enjoy this amazing looking game.
Sorry if you’ve talked about it before but where was dusk? That was like the one the put new blood on the map. And if that didn’t exist we wouldn’t have gotten that other one. Not allowed to say the name. So if you do another vid like this please cover it.
