I wouldn't say underrated. It may be that Mindcrime followed and was a dark-ish concept album, the greatest concept album ever, btw. Then Empire produced their biggest song.
His voice isn't gone, and I love his voice, but he isn't what he was 10 - 20 years ago. But that's ok, it's called growing older, and he's still a great singer. But back in the day he was on another level from everyone else....EVERYONE!!
@@billmarshall2536 I think he sounds better than what he used to 10-20 years ago ... I mean the guy can pull Queen of the Reich live at the age of 63 . Now about Geoff in the 80's noone came even close to that the guy was one of a kind just untouchable .
I've been one of Geoff Tate's harshest critics (only because he's one of my singing idols) and biggest fans...gotta give him mad props for doing his fans justice and getting his chops back! He's got a ways to go but damn that was good...
Same here! I was disappointed some years ago. But now he is really pulling it off again! I am so happy to see him perform again in a great way! I was at the same show where the video was taken.
Tate will always be one of the world's greatest singers. My favorite my entire life now 55, age weight band none matter, he is and always will be a legend and none compare.
A few observations. Tate is still one of the greatest metal vocalist ever. His voice has actually improved in the last few years. Tate, Halford, Dio, Dickinson, and a couple others are the greatest. The Kilt. Some guys can pull it off. Zakk Wylde, Axl,etc. This bassist looks absolutely ridiculous. The band sounds absolutely fantastic. Just my 2 cents.
I have seen all of the above legends several times each, imo Geoff Tate is definitely the most impressive of them all! And yes, this band sounds absolutely fantastic live! Geoff is really in top shape nowadays!
Yeah I am amazed he fixed his vocal issues and regained his stuff. The man deserves all the credit for working his ass off to find his voice again. Must have a great vocal coach. Not easy.
@@armymomheatherc I feel so fortunate to have seen 'Rage For Order' tour, Warning, and Mindcrime....ALL live...back in the day. And I was also present for the MTV live event in Los Angeles during the Empire Release. These were the very best shows I have ever seen in my entire life. I listen to Queensryche nearly every single day. Even now, right now, the Stuff from Rage for Order is cutting edge stuff. And NOTHING will EVER outdo the 'Mindcrime'. As a creative work, it is untouchable, and with Tate it is fabulous.
When Geoff teamed up with Sweet Oblivion, Simone Mularoni gave him shit about the way he wasn't singing like he knew he could, and when Tobias Sammet brought him in with Avantasia, Tobias supposedly pushed him to get back to singing the way he used to, technique wise. You could hear it in the Avantasia tour he was getting back to it.
@@williambrewer9069 He really seems like he is truly enjoying himself at this point in time. I wish I could go back in time and re-be at the Warning and Rage for Order concerts. There is nothing else like the old Queensryche. They had a dynamic, amazing sound and their songs were very interesting and even now, nothing else compares to that sound. I never would have been able to guess that Tate would look so different when he got older. Some people looks very similar always throughout their life, but others, like Tate, morph into totally different looking people. I got to see them perform at the MTV show too, which was amazing.
@@ideiben3190 would have loved to have been at the Unplugged session. Been a Ryche fan since the beginning when as a 13 year old wasn't sure how to pronounce their name when I came up on the cassette in a record store in 1983. I've seen them (only with Geoff) 18 times and Geoff solo twice. They're slightly second to KISS as my all time favorite band and I saw them open for KISS on Kiss' Animalize tour which blew me away. Luckily I was already a fan so when I saw they were opening for KISS in 1984 I was stoked beyond belief.
WOW, I've been a 'Ryche Fan since i was a little boy, im 39 now and Tate has had different musicians in his band throughout the years but Iam VERY impressed by these guitarists!!! Sounded like vintage Queensryche, very on point with the guitar play and the backing vocals were great, good stuff man!!
It seems that the other (not Kieran Robertson) guitarist's position has a rather revolving door. Doesn't matter though, Geoff kills it and all the guitarists have done a good job from what I've seen.
Color me surprised - first song I've seen where he actually sounds decent on the last few tours. The backing band and vocals suck but thems the breaks.
@@daviddaniel3996 I agree as well. I was being sarcastic but also only enough, in some twist of fate , he could very well end up with Ownership of Queensryche , how bizarre ...
No he doesn’t. They both sound great but Todd has the ability to do this night in and night out Tate would have to prove himself over a long tour and he needs to lose some weight. It’s a joy to hear Tate flying high again.
Tate is forbidden from calling his band Queensryche. I have each and every pleading from the law suit. Yes, I am an attorney licensed in Washington state. Stop screwing with the trademark.
Sounds Amazing but think everyone looks a little awkward but I know this 2022 and don’t expect Geoff to be up in there with his Rage for Order Pompadour Mullett and the other members sporting Poodle Hair doos either
When is Geoff Tate gonna fire that cringe-looking bass player?! He looks more ridiculous by every freaking tour, bringing the whole thing down to a level where it doesn't belong omg
The band destroys this song !! Tate would have sounded 100 times better than this had he been inspired by his band This sounded like he was fightring them the entire time! What a shame!
The little things . . . . . the little things Michael and Eddie and Scott and Chris did make it impossible for these guys and anyone else for that matter to ever do this song justice
Queensryche was one of those bands where each and every single member of the band is a virtuoso of their respected instrument. That is not nearly the incredible part though. The really incredible part is that they somehow found each other
I don't know despite being a top notch singer and me an heyday Queensryche fan and still listen to the albums of course---cannot relate to that video, these idiots should play with Marylin Manson.
