This is my dad and brother. They were in a talent show that day and everyones shoes were flying off. My dad and Jamie came dad said "dont have to worry about being hit with shoes for now" because they had no shoes on. It was funny.
Sierra Hurley...You are SO FORTUNATE to have such talented a father and brother! Are you maybe hiding your own light under a bushel? 🎵🌹🌹❤❤ Bye the bye..the shoe business WAS funny!
My father made my first dulcimer for me, when I was ten, as he'd made my mothers' dulcimers. But even after all these years, I can't match you gentlemen. Thank you!
NC HILLBILLIES...Have a Mountain Dulcimer...love it !! Your DUET on yours is truly exceptional! Please keep up the good work, although you don't make it look like work!! 🎶 🎵 👌👌👌👏👏👏🎼🎼🌹🌹
I think it is cool.......I just got a dulcimer this weekend and I really like the sound of it. The drone string reminds me a little of the sound of bag pipes. Very well done guys. Thanks for posting.
Thank you to those who enjoyed the video. It was a lot of fun. To give you a little insight on how this happened. My son was asked to interview person who practiced a heritage skill. (If you don't know what that is grab a Foxfire book and read it) I have been woodworking all my life and playing the dulcimer along the way. James picked me to interview and write his story. During the project he tells me that he is to learn more about the trade by building something.
Being part of the community, it should occur to you that the mountain people do not need help from you to diminsih the pride and culture of the entire community of glorious Hillbillies.
Nice and homey, out on the porch. Thanks and see if you guys can keep the 'family' together and keep on playin.' It's stuff like this that makes RU-vid worthwhile.
Your second song Fre’re Jacque was written on a manuscript in 1775. A Paris Music Company wrote the first manuscript for the public in 1865. Hence it has turned into a Nursery Rhyme. My late uncles were Men of the Mountains and the Coal Mines, and they didn’t mind being called a Hill Billy. They told me they were proud of it! Your cute presentation of being a faux hillbilly tells me that you youn’in’s might be a new kind of hillbillies who might even get manicures.😂 Mountain men came from rougher and tougher stuff but you guys play a wonderful dulcimer. Thank you for the music.
Wow ~~ You guys are truly amazing -- and graceful! Thanks so much. I also like the comedy skit. That was cute. You don't need it, though. Just play that gorgeous music.
it's actually very insulting. It's the reason dulcimewr players and banjo players can never be seen as more than mindless hillbilles in the mainstream or just walking down the street with one of these instruments brands you a hick.. I dont appreciate the dumbed down theatrics as theyre called
As a person of refined and tastes towards the Classical, I found this to be the best version of Amazing Grace I have ever heard. The energy was amazing, the purity of the music was in itself a blessing. The stage show, well they did try to hard, but I enjoyed their fun and do it myself with the inlaws in Dallas/Fortworth. In the end, Just enjoy the music for what it is, a personal choice. Music is just this. There is no need for armchair Critics here, Have fun with it. Even GOD would say that.
Thanks guys. This takes me home and you two remind me of my family so much it brings tears. Don't stop playing that wonderful music. When is there going to be another?
God hates belching? First I've heard of that. Odd how He made us so gassy then. I tend to think it's His decision on whether or not to take offense. Grace has many forms and I think laughter is one of the greatest, but as I said, it's for Him to decide. When a man chooses to take offense, it has more to do with his willingness to be offended than anything else. The offender lacks that power. The offended renders the offense with the power over himself. Great music, bless you all.
same reason woody guthrie turned down so many gigs. They wanted him standing in front of hay bales and wearing overalls... He spat in the face of this and wouldn't appreciate the stereotype being reiforced.
Thank you! I learned to play Amazing Grace by watching your video over and over. My version is called "Amazing Grace with feather pick/cat toy" and I am MacyJayne100 on RU-vid
I was born in the great Smoky mountains North Carolina in 1939 and never talked stupid like that and never dressed like that in the first place we are not hillbillies we are mountain folks I found this whole thing to be an insult to my ancestors and myself. I liked the music but not the Hollywood thyme put down.
I absolutely agree with you. I hear so many bad rumors about the Appalachian people, and where's the evidence? And it's a shame, because they were just hardworking people who played bluegrass at the end of a long day, and revered it, and this old, beautiful music, needs to be preserved.
Sad to see something so beautiful as a Good RU-vid Video Comment's Section ruined by literally nobody cares, the music is good and that's why we clicked on the video, nobody cares you're offended, buzz off...
@D13G054NCH3Z The people living in the Appalachian mountains and all across the South. The only ones left in this country who are still openly discriminated against and mocked because of an accent and location. Maybe we talk funny, but we ain't stupid. And we know what good music is ;)
Great video, apparently some of the “yuppies “ don’t appreciate a little comedy. They ran off and got educated and now think their better than everybody else. Good strumming, keep at it boys
I can see where you're coming from. But I don't worry about them. Let the people who are interested really learn how we grew up and live and then everyone will start to understand. That's how I see it.
Hey buddy. Get this. That song is amazing grace. That songs means a LOT to A LOT of people. Its a religious song, and its not meant to be disrespected. You may not hurt the feelings of the song, but you hurt the feelings of people everywhere
ok but to A LOT of other people, its just a song and really could give a damn about people that they dont knows feelings. you gotta realize this.. not everybody has the same views as you.
There's no way these guys are actually from the south/appalachia or they wouldn't think it was funny to make such a mockery of who we are. If someone did that with an early 20th century African American accent, they'd be called racist bigots. But it's ok to make fun of us just because we have a different accent. BTW, I'm from the mountains of Alabama and I've never once heard one person say "sheeeeweee!"
The intro was just stupid. I darn near killed the video. Amazing Grace was well done and the addition of Frère Jacques at the end was an unexpected bonus. Can the horrid comedy and stick to the music.
Beautiful music, but you sure could have left the belching out. Just because a person is a "hillbilly" doesn't mean someone is crude and ill mannered. As a "hillbilly" miyself, I'm somewhat offended by how people stereotype us.
