Vessel cries an EXCEPTIONAL amount when he is performing live- every emotion he conveys is authentic to each song. Nothing is forced which is incredible
One thing about Vessel live is that his passion is there every time. It's not manufactured, it doesn't feel just like a performance. It's incredibly palpable. I don't think we'll ever get a performance like this ever again. This was so long ago and a very intimate couple of hundred person venue. But regardless, their live performances are amazing. It feels like worship, even if they aren't intended to be gospel songs. Vessel throws his emotion into every performance like it is church.
The female vocalist (one of the live "Espera" trio of backing vocalists) is Lynsey Ward. Her three-piece prog rock band Exploring Birdsong are AMAZING, and have been incredibly well-received by the fans when they've supported Sleep Token on tour. They're really cool too in the way they don't use any guitars, it's all pitchy bass and keyboards, but they still rock HARD.
If I'm not mistaken this whole concert was just Vessel and Espera girls.. when he played songs on piano, he was sitting with his mask down, and his back to the crowd. This whole show must have been one of the best experiences ever!
I love that everyone recognizes this beloved song and starts singing along - and then Vessel is so crazy talented that everyone stops singing just to hear him.
Kyle (and Eric too), if you’ve only seen snippets of the room below live performance, do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing. You don’t even have to react to it, just sit and enjoy it. There is a video on RU-vid of the entire thing. It’s absolutely breathtaking and well worth a listen!
I'm happy they are "caught up" because it means they have a chance to finally completely immerse themselves in all the ST snippets and details without feeling like they are spoiling something for a video. They get to experience all the wonderful things like TRB video.
So glad you did this one, Vessel's talents go beyond the normal way of singing. Chris Liepe believes vessels emotional crying that he does behind that mask is what gives him some of that untouchable tone and connection to the audience to the point the audience also tears up from the way its being sang. Cant wait for a day when we have some new Sleep Token, this reaction ride has been awesome and has made me a fan of you guys.
He did Missing Limbs this tour. Just him and his guitar in a wave of pink and purple lights. Mesmerizing. I can't wait til you guys get to experience Sleep Token live.
It seems like Vessel loves every genre of music, but Gospel has a special place in his heart. I also loved Kyle's face during the song, like he was in church having a spiritual moment.
Vessel's voice simultaneously RAVAGES and heals my soul. He is so raw and vulnerable and authentic, it's honestly an honor for him to let us in like that.
The female backing singer is Lynsey Ward. She's a member of Espera, the trio that tours with Sleep Token. She has her own band called Exploring Birdsong that has noticeable Sleep Token influence. You should check out her cover of Deftones "Diamond Eyes". I like it better than the original. "The Collapse" is also a great one.
God damn on point! Also, not to be rude, but please don't use the term "vesselettes" - they're called Espera, they're not members, they're doing their own stuff and don't like this term
@kittywolfie_chan2467 I appreciate you letting me know. I'm not super well versed on everyone that performs with Sleep Token. I'll edit my comment accordingly. I also appreciate you not being a typical keyboard warrior about it. Blessed be. 🖤🖤
I have been SO excited for this reaction..... and I've waited so long, his voice is just perfect....by far the best rendition of Hallelujah I've ever heard~
Saw Sleep Token at Masey Hall on May 27, 2024. ST changed my whole mind, heart, and soul -- that night. And ever since. No music act has ever reverberated through my life like ST. And Vessel is someone I truly wish I could know as a friend and brother. It would be a miracle. But we are all alive as Vessel is. And I am forever grateful!
Finally! Thank you! Probably my favorite cover from Ves; he puts so much emotion and feeling into everything he does but this just hits different. Also, I know you guys mentioned the audience singing in the beginning... but I think the thing that says the most about this performance is how they were all stunned to complete silence by the end.
I love that you commented about people singing along. Because at first they are, then you can slowly hear their voices drop out as they realize they just need to take in what vessel is doing.
I had tickets for this gig, a few days before i fell off my bike and broke my shoulder blade so couldn't go. Luckily i did see it on my phone as someone did a live feed of it. Incredible performance.
The sign off by Eric in this video reminds me of a Mitch Hedberg joke: "If you find yourself lost in the woods, fuck it, build a house. Well, I was lost, but now I live here. I have severely improved my predicament!"
OMG I've been WAITING for you guys to find this one!!! Vessel and one of the Espera....such beauty!! I've cried every time I've listened to this cover! And yes, Vessel actually will cry when singing live. One of the few interviews he's done, he was asked about it, and he's stated yes, it's real, and it just happens.
Wow wow WOW!!!! I need to go wash my face and put fresh makeup on before going to my class reunion in a little bit. Not this cover, but this song was the first played at our friends funeral this morning... this got my emotions going ten times more at least. I still have chills! I needed this, it's been a rough day... and the party starts in 2 hours.
I would kill to have been at this show. Y'all need to watch the whole thing. ESPECIALLY missing limbs, fall for me, and Bloodsport, which in my opinion are THE BEST versions of each song
I believe that was Paige of Espera. (Consensually unmasked background vocals group). My belief is he got choked up earlier and tagged her in until he could compose himself enough to sing again. But it made *such* a beautiful moment. And he didnt experience a hiccup of that nature again till Wembly from an audience of a 100 to...thousands? There to support him and them even when he couldnt sing.
Watched your sleep token reactions maybe 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching sleep token concerts on yt, watching sleep token reels, listening to people's take on the lore, and listening to them on spotify for 2 wks straight now..sometimes i feel like im overdoing it to the point im getting sick of them but i miss them when i dont get sick of them. Huhuhuhu
The videos from this show are unreal. I think it's one of the only times Fall For Me was performed live, and it is as devastating as you'd think. For most of the show Vessel sat at a piano with his back turned to the audience and had his mask off, and he was sobbing off and on during the performance. He also had an AI read a message that's heartbreaking as well. Definitely recommend looking into "Vessel's message room below" and watching videos from this show
I adore your reaction to this song. I didn't think anyone could out do Jeff Buckley's version until hearing Vessel sing Hallelujah. Well presented guys, absolutely loved it.
Also chiming in that the entire room below performance is a must watch! Some of my favorite versions of their songs in that performance. Absolutely amazing
Playing this song in this intimate surrounding was just perfect. It was a sacred moment we will never forget. Especially when the lady with that angelic voice dropped in. They both can sing so beautiful and the crying at the end adds even more goosebumbs to me. This song is already so beautiful and Vessel made it heavenly.
You guys need to see the rest of the Room Below. But especially react to that clip of him performing Fall For Me and the way the crowd screams right along with him. I need to see both of your reactions to that. Cause it’s soul crushing.
I don't know if you guys check out other types of music but there is a beatboxer named Taras Stanin! This dude sings so good and is an awesome beatboxer! Please do a reaction on him! He is also in a group called Ya Na Ha and they have a new song called Get Up! Their harmony will blow you away! I hope you guys can do this! Thanks so much!!!
Tickets were sold out for this before I knew it existed! Really pleased Espera have been allowed to cease with the anonymity. When one fainted on stage/the platform, it wasn’t the same having to wish a vesselette well and check she was okay! They have cooler outfits and move now, so that’s great too!
Boys, I'm glad you did this one. This particular show had a wonderful version of Bloodsport. I believe he does remove the mask, but is faced away from the crowd. The crowd participation is very heartwarming
Man, I put off watching this for SO long because I didn't want it to be fully completely done lol. But here we are. The LAST Sleep Token song that you guys hadn't heard. Here's hoping for new music to bless our ears soon
i'm willing to bet many comments already say this but you NEED to watch the entire From The Room Bellow show, ASAP. Get your tissues ready, it's a tearjerker and so so so beautiful.
I can’t stand this rendition (in a good way) it’s so beautiful and brings a tear to my eye every time. when I tell you I’ve been WAITING for you guys to react to this!! Wish they’d release a cover, only way I want to listen to this song❤ Thank you guys for reacting with us
I’ve watched all of your sleep Token vids and a few others and I’ve never seen you guys so moved and riveted as when you react to ST… just shows how enchanting they are
Finally got to watch this! Vessel's cover gives me chills every time. I will make another attempt to respectfully request you react to Blacklit Canopy. There are visualizers for every song so none of the "live footage" needs to be seen. This is about deep diving into Vessel's (imo) autobiographical lyrics from before he became Vessel. It's tragic and gut wrenching and something every Sleep Token fans need to experience, imo.
I've been very eagerly awaiting your reaction to this live cover and I'm glad it didn't disappoint! I personally cannot listen to this cover without crying. It's just so dang beautiful.
People theorize that Vessel is the former lead singer of a band called Blacklit Canopy, it was him and a girl who sang, so maybe it's the same one who sang with him, the voice seems very
Vessel is my favourite singer because he has his own style and the passion he puts to sing. He pours his beautiful soul in each and every note. I'm in love with his artistry ❤ Worship
Wow what a stunning performance!he never misses. You guys should check out bad omens with too close to touch- sympathy the live version. Omg it is so emotional and beautiful
you guys should definitely check out the videos from the rest of this show bc vessel played songs on the piano with his back to the crowd and his mask off sitting on the piano beside him. it's chilling
Great reaction guys glad you finally got to do this one. I come back to this cover all the time. Any time I’m anxious or depressed vessels voice cuts through it all. Especially in this song.
Do the original is written and sung by Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley’s version is so beautiful! I like to think that Vessel is a fan of Jeff’s music! Though the song is used a lot in worship, it’s actually a love song about a relationship the intimacy therein, hence the lines, “Well there was a time when you let me know, what’s really going on below, but now you show that to me?” “But remember when I moved you, and the holy dove was moving too, and every breath we drew was hallelujah” Leonard was also an ordained Buddhist monk!
OMG GUYS. I’ve been stalking your channel every single day to see when this reaction would finally drop. You’ve been keeping me on my toes since your last reaction. 😭 Thank you SO MUCH for finally doing it. When I saw the video on my feed I felt like a child on Christmas Day, no kidding. I had a huge smile the entire time watching you experience it for the first time. I’m in love with this cover. It’s definitely my favorite one. It speaks to my soul (I mean, like their entire discography duh), makes me cry every fucking time. Especially when they reach the line « And the holy dove she was moving too ». The emotion just keeps building and it feels like it’s reaching it’s point at this line and obviously the next one. Both of their voices combined is just divine. I can only hope I’ll hear it live one day, I’m so jealous of the ppl who got to experience it. 😂😭 Can’t wait to experience their next piece of art with you guys. Worship. 🤍
if you guys ever get the opportunity, please please please try to go to a live sleep token show. you think vessel has emotion when he sings in studio versions? you have noooo idea until you see them in person. literally an ethereal moment.
The first time I watched this on RU-vid I had to play it multiple times and I’m not ashamed to admit that I definitely teared up a bit 😅 and when the vesselette sings.. holy shit 😮💨👌
