I'm cornfuzzled. It says "non iron" barrel. I thought barrels came in steel and plastic. Would someone be so kind as to educate me on this matter? Thank you
Thank you for watching and sharing with me! Hope everyone will explain to you what it is and how to do it? to me that's what the video title says ! thank you
@@abrahamlopez1027Thank you. I asked to be educated and you responded. I do appreciate it. However, I believe I need to educate you a bit. Your response seems to be based on some severely flawed logic. Based on the formula you provided, since a plastic barrel has no iron in it, a plastic barrel could also be used for this project. Surely you can see that isn't true. It seems you're not aware of how steel is made. Steel is a man made product. It is not a naturally occurring element. Iron is a natural element. We use iron to make steel. Steel contains an iron concentration of 98 to 99 percent or more. The remainder is carbon-a small additive that makes a major difference in the metal's properties. Technically, it can be claimed that steel is an all natural product, but steel in itself, is not natural. Guacamole, similarly, can also be claimed as all natural. However, I've never seen non-avacado guacamole. Thanks again.
a few things... 1) either the lid should be pounded wider or drum pounded narrower so lid overlaps, OR the cement top sill should be higher and sloped to the outside, to prevent it filling with water every time it rains. 2) the drum will rust (starting at the hardware) and the whole thing will fall apart in a couple years 3) the concrete stove top should probably have a 3rd hole that vents up thru the lid as chimney, otherwise airflow is very restricted 4) get that baby hot and the wire rack will soften and sag into the fire. need a heavier grate material.
@@jm7974 The main element in steel is iron, and iron is what rusts (rust is iron oxide) They claim it is a "non-iron" drum: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rUrdxOMFtX4.html
Bbq, cook the chicken over wood Try cherry, apple, hickory, or mesquite, even Oak Use wood chips soaked in water om the charcoal. Wood smoke can add a lot of flavor
I will try according to your seasoning. Thank you for watching and sharing. As you said, smoked meat has a unique and great flavor. Wish you luck and happiness❤️❤️❤️
So you take a BEAUTIFUL patio and brick stand an old oil drum in the middle of it? Not bothering to match the cement to the grout color of the patio and leaving the oil drum a beat up old blue color? Pretty ghetto (and not in a good way) if you ask me.
The latch needs to be a hook it's too small for a boat latch it'll burn your fingers when it gets hot PS don't squander your blessings away and throw them all over the place either you better realize what you have right there the ability and the materials cuz someday politicians will come and take one of them away from you

Dude.....you are the man! Straight up, that is awesome! Love the concrete stove top. The stone on the bottom for intense heat and then the grill. You are a genius sir!
@@oswaldmoser9719 No, great oven !!! Just throw out the galvanized grate! ☺ Zinc is a heavy metal, poison! Do not hold drinking water in galvanized buckets for a long time. Take care of yourself ! ☺
@@thunderpuna1915 Didn't know they made this type of drum in aluminium. Thanks for the info. Pin Dick! P.S. Did you see the sparks fly when he cut the drum? Go cut some aluminium and see if it sparks. Thunder arse.
For the life of me I can't figure out why spend the time and effort with the concrete and the bricks on a temporary shell in that wet weather it's life is not that long!!!
I dunno what was in that barrel before hand but i believe i would have torched the crap outta it until the paint burned all off because with most stuff they put in those steel barrels is either food grade or corrosive so they line the inside of em with different things to either stop corrosion or contamination so likely teflon or other stuff that wouldnt taste to good burnt into foods... always a good idea to burn the barrels before usng em for stuff like this.. and if they contained anything that contained petroleum or corrosive or waste, better not to use them for a grill.. that stuff will leech into the metal itself and not good for the internals if ingested.. hell they keep nuclear waste in those things in some places.. ive seen em used to transport medical waste also.. so yea..
Cant be Non-iron barrel. Its rusted on the inside and sparked when you cut it. Only iron will rust. Has to be an alloy of some sort....which contains iron.
Would be considered unsafe in most of western countries (Europe + US + Some countries of South America + Australia) but I guess it's good enough for South East Asians.
You didn't use fire brick........... You didn't use high temp. mortar........... So you will be lucky to get 40 cooking events before the bricks and mortar crack and fall apart.
@@thomaswilliam630 I am from a developing country but we still do diys good and to last. This is bad advise on RU-vid to use chicken wire as rebar. There are hundreds of cheaper or around the home stronger metal mesh you can use. I just hope someone doesn't build a free standing stove table or kitchen counter slab with chicken wire, ending up killing a child or family member when it collapse.
Plus I can see from the heat generated the bricks will fail inside because of steel shell it's a shame especially after all his hard work maybe he was trying to shut the wife up lol , I'm only joking girls don't hate me I love you all.
Your hard works , ur confidence and work skill so amezing, I like too much, and your food beautifull I am hungry, can I come injoy food with you brother. I am from India. God bless you injoy ur life with ur amezing skill by......!
The Scout camp I worked at back in the 90s had a bunch (like 50) brick barbecues that were donated and built by a masonry training school. There were several in each troop campsite. They were beautiful with a raised area for a wood or charcoal fire so the cook didn't have to squat or bend over. I learned that there is a specific fire/heat resistant mortar that must be used for such things. I learned this because after about five years they had all crumbled so much they all ended up being demolished.
I might have doubled up on the support structure by going two wide on each pedestal. . . . .Once filled with concrete, the drum is extra heavy. I'm not concerned about the weight, I'm concerned about a lateral push on the end causing one of the leg/walls to buckle. A stack of single bricks 6 high can be pushed over with some effort if your drunk buddy is out of control one evening.
Well done. I have done that but only in my mind. It was very educational to follow all the steps and seeing the final product materialize, I really enjoyed it. Good work. 🙂👍
People one thing they are forgetting to tell you is make sure you look for a heat-resistant concrete. You cannot just use any type of cement with this project. You have to look for the cement that is Health safe. Because you cannot use just any cement in this project because it contains chemicals
No it doesnt.. portland cement and sand.. no chemicals.. if you went to some rural home store and bought some bagged stuff it may contain acrylic or if uses that fast setting stuff its got some stuff in it that reacts with water.. otherwise if you mix it yourself arent gonna be chemicals in cement.. Now if you mix it and theres air pockets in it and dont use it for a while or something and allow the stuff to absorb moisture than that can get into those air pockets abd steam which will explode a little when heated up pretty good but not enough to blow off a finger or nothing. Could send a chunk of hot concrete at you though.. But think before you try to sound like you know shit.. heat resistant concrete.. fuckin really tho? Heat resistant concrete.. how about some waterproof rocks also.. or crush proof sand.. or freezable water.. Derp...
Actually, heat resistant cement is real. Portland cement isn't designed for heat applications. It will spall. Chemicals being released is not the situation, but if you use a Portland cement for high heat applications you should expect failure.
Cool.... but to beginners and even to this guy -NEVER WORK WITH POWER TOOLS AND FLIP FLOPS... PROTECT YOUR FEET WITH STEEL TOE SHOES...YOU ONLY HAVE TWO FOR LIFE. NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE DOING, HOW, ETC...POWER TOOLS NEED APPROPRIATE PPE. Granted some people may not have a choice, financial issues, 3rd world undeveloped countries or in areas not near stores, or other reasons but if you can, please, please protect your limbs - hands, arms, feet, legs, even the fingers and toes. And while at it.. your eyes. I see people mixing up corrosive chemicals (cement being one of those) no matter whether DIY, agricultural, horticultural, home building and repairs, lawns, etc and no goggles or limb protection. Your eyes, and limbs etc. your whole body is a God given miracle - treat it as such and it will be with you for a long time.
The whole idea is fine, but, if you cut the cylinder plugs vertically, it is better to use fire control, air inlet and outlet, the large one as a chimney outlet and the small one below to control the combustion air, the The idea is that it works like a Rocket stove.
Great video , keep them coming. Like to see how you would go about building a jet stove for heating a shop. I'd guess yall probably dont get that cold but would be sleek to see your take. Great job. Enjoy your cooker.
