I fell down a similar rabbit hole when looking for a semi-hollow. I was all set to pull the trigger on the previous, green version of it, when they announced the blue and I fell in love. I enjoy the sound of it unplugged, for the late night "do not wake the family" noodling sessions. I love the satin neck and the upper fret access and the brass bridge. The matching headstock veneer just bring sit all together. Zach himself has said that he wants everyone to just play the guitar because it is good value and has great features over being a Shinedown fan. I think it well deserves it's title as one of (if not the) the highest selling signature models PRS has ever done. I may add locking tuners to mine (PRS or Gotoh) plus I may explore adding a treble bleed to the neck volume pot to stop that muddiness you were talking about. I think it was Phil McKnights review that mentioned that. I'm going to need to get a Big Muff clone and see if I can recreate that sound that captivated you.
i just bought one (put on layaway) tried it out at the shop and loved it....i just love the PRS concept of very comfortable necks and the semi-hollowbody guitars....your shoulder never hurts...not like a LES PAUL
I will always love my Gibson Studio. But man I’ve been playing the Zach Myers a lot lately. It stays in tune a lot better and it just feels so comfortable to play. It just speaks to me when I play it.

I think the main thing that would differentiate this from a typical Les Paul is the lower weight of the chambered body, mine is 7lbs 4 oz vs about 9 lbs or more for LP. I have seen these on Reverb or eBay with stated weights of 8 lbs and as low as 6 lbs 15oz.
Shinedown fan or not, I think this scale length is great for kids with smaller hands & something they'll continue to use all through their guitar journey.
Thanks for this insight, I tried this out a few times at a local shop. Same deal, I’d never heard of Zach Myers’s before, but this guitar just feels right, plays amazingly well and looks beautiful for this price point. Found one used and it should be with me in the next day or two.
I bought it because it seemed to check all the boxes in my new Guitar want list! I have not received it yet but I’m very excited to get it! I thought you did a great review of that and keep up the good work my friend!
Personally I would for the simple fact I already have a Les Paul. However I’ve not played the epiphone slash guitars.I think it depends very much upon what you’re in the market for and what works for you. It’s always best to give the guitar a try if possible 😊
