My training is in striking (Okinawan karate) but I respect all legitimate martial arts and think of us all as a larger community. I've never seen such a high level of aikido both here and in his other videos as this sensei. Over the top fluid and seemingly effortless. An absolute pleasure to watch.
fantastic unless you have ever done aikido you can not appreciate the forces involved these take it to a higher level still the skill sets are very high to avoid serious injury i am always impressed with this channel
If you resist you will struggle with injury so the rag doll is learning the counters to the moves too. He is learning exactly how to slip those moves and live
@@hesedagape6122I threw a guy 1 month ago because he attacked me when I reminded him to wear a mask with kokyu nage and he hit his head on the ground because he fell on his back. Luckily, he was just stunned
These moves are so elegant and effortless, but yet powerful!! I've trained in Kyokushin, Hapkido, and Shootfigting (Japanese Grappling) so I appreciate these techniques!! More videos, please!!
Aikido is also jujitsu irrespective of the fact that techniques were/are omitted from the repertoire for a majority of the schools. But in reality the techniques have always been there including ne waza....in the end it is INTENT that differentiates Aiki from other approaches as it gives the ability and method to subdue without damage to an assailant if possible. Also I always emphasized to the new kohai's that they are as good as their ability to take proper ukemi without getting hurt. The Sensei works hard to help them through the techniques so that injury is prevented but the kohai also has to work hard to receive the techniques and absorb by proper yielding and recovery. Therefore as congrats go to the Sensei they are also reserved for uke for taking the ukemi
Congratulations! Mixing with techniques is recognizing that evolution in martial art must be constant. It is not getting stuck with old concepts, which is often proven that it does not work anymore. Everything evolves.
Beautiful kata, uke's ukemi is flawless. Some good ideas presented here IMO, and quite a few techs you won't see in any judo comp for safety reasons. I'll be rewatching this...
What really amaze me, Shirakawa sensei can apply these very dangerous technique safely. Even small mistakes here could lead to serious injury to the Uke.

Beautiful and technical. It would be nice to see you take it in the other direction, with closer distances and more speed in the attackers feeds while maintaining the softness of Aikido.
Impressive I do agree. Pretty good aïkido master I surely agree as well. But these are theoritical moves with friendly, non opposive Uke (and by the way even more impressive Uke!) So remains the everlasting question: In real life, would it be so aesthetic and efficient?
@@laumia2499 It wouldn't be either. Facing a real attack from someone of even a medium preparation in grappling with a technique like the one demonstrated in this video is a suicide for sure. What is demonstrated here looks pretty, but don't be fooled by the false sense of effectiveness these flashy demos offer. It looks great because it is acted; just a little expression of self-indulgent narcissism, but beyond that, it is completely useless to face a real life threat.
@@unixtohack Of course. Aikido is wonderful and its practice contributes a lot to the health and physical-mental development of the human being, thats for sure... But we must have to be careful with demos (flashy ones that do not contribute to _anything relevant_ to the technique, especially the ones like this) simply because they represent a falsehood. Aikido technique, with a *very serious and methodical cross-training* with (or without) the purpose of destroying, provides the practitioner with very good _tools_ to achieve injury, but obviously not provide all the answers. For this reason, Aikido should NEVER be presented as something it is not, much less as a cheese-choreographed "blend".
6:20 imagine a throw similar to this, but at a full sprint. So instead of using your falling weight to throw the subject backward and over yourself, you use your hands to pull them forward and over yourself. It seems highly effective to me, but it would be difficult to practice without a complicated dummy because you could severely injure your sparring partner.
I always loved Aikido but after seeing that Mix with Ju Jitsu all I can say I wish I could learn that are videos out that that self train you step by step? 😊👍 That looked simply magnificent !
@@rjacob06 a few Aikido techniques I used when I was fight on the street is Irimi Nage and Kote Gaeshi. But the result will be different than choreograph like this but it works.
@@m5a1stuart83 Many Aikido techniques have practical value in modern fighting. The problem is that the choreography turns people off and the current leaders of Aikido, including the Ueshiba family, refuse to change and adapt.
Very interesting movements full of Jujitsu source and Aikjitsu spirit. A type of Aiki not often taught in Europe for example.. The most interesting video about Aiki along with thé videos of Florian Dau (Flofight and fitness) from Germany.. Congratulations From Paris, France !
love the swiftness of the hip throw in every move. it makes the movement more efficient and practical, less effort but with efficient power from the hips and body. but this moves will take a lot of practice for my body to move by itself. May I know if you have a school here in the Philippines? I would like to enroll my Junior, I am sure that he would like it much.
He has a stoic demeanor which is needed for training such an art. Definition copied and pasted from online dictionary is very fitting: Being stoic is being calm and almost without any emotion. When you're stoic, you don't show what you're feeling and you also accept whatever is happening. The noun stoic is a person who's not very emotional. ... Stoic people calmly go with the flow and don't appear to be shook up by much.
