It's an awesome place Simo, i was blown away by the size of it. Yep, it's not for everyone but i'm sure it will be a hit with the Nomads. Hope all is well mate!
This is a very interesting and informative video. I am considering to go to Chiang Mai for couple of months this winter (as a start) and it's very good to see there is some movement happening since covid. Looks promising. Thank you for the video!
Thank you Alisa, i hope you can come to Chiang Mai soon, i'm sure you will love this city and hopefully things will be getting back to normal soon. Thank you.
Innovative ambitious project in tough times. Welcoming space for the next generation of digital nomads when travellers can move around again without restrictions. We'll done to the owner's. Someone is starting to think outside the square 👌
Thanks for that Wayne. Really hope John can make a go of it. He must have put a fortune into it. It is a major upgrade on any of the other co-working spaces that I've seen or been to in Chiang Mai. The next 6-9 months might be lean for him. However, when this COVID madness is over, I think there will be an avalanche of people moving to Chiang Mai.
Cool co working space no expense spared he has thought of everything hopefully he makes a good go of it and things pick up soon . Thanks for the tour Wayne😁👍 stay safe
i think the rooms will be a tough sell at those prices , most digital nomads are working on a tight budget and 12k bht for a week is steep especially as alot of the rooms shown had no window . I wish John all the best though
Wayne...Keis One shows the busy local Thai areas. Agree that most of the doom and gloom is about Farang bars and tourists places. But the Thais are out and enjoying the city.
Loved this one Wayne! I just booked my flights to Phuket, do you know if you need an outbound flight to be able to get a Visa? I'm struggling to find proper info on it.
Thanks Alex! What country are you getting the visa in mate? I recall in London i had to show an oubound flight yes. What i do is book the cheapest flight out of Thailand and i never use it. Should be able to find something for really cheap.
Wayne d you reckon the wearing masks outside mandate will stay long term? I hate wearing them and with the heat in Thailand that’s one thing I’m not looking forward to about coming to CM
I think the mask will be around in Thailand for a long time venus, infact i think Thailand will be one of the last places still wearing them. They love wearing masks here, even before Covid. I take mine off now when i feel comfortable because as you mentioned, the heat here makes it a struggle. I hate wearing it too mate.
Could you breathe easily in the soundproof room? Did they have any computers you can use? I saw two but wondered if there were more. Internet cafes in Old City are scarce.
Yes, i could breath but i was only in there a short time. I'm sure they have some sort of ventilation in the room. They have monitors only, so you would need to bring your laptop and can hook up to a bigger monitor.
Hi Wayne. Can you please give me a rough idea of the cost for a pushbike in CM? Thanks mate. Also I get the impression they’re safe in the sense of thieves?
Hi Gary, you can get both new and second hand here mate, with many of the top brands. TREK is everywhere here. I picked up my bike second hand for 3500 Baht (£78). You will find a half decent second hand one around 4000 Baht. Anything new will be like back home really mate. Decathlon do good new budget bikes here, starting from 5000 Baht ($150 / £110) Chiang Mai is the safest place i've been but crime can still happen here and i always lock my bike around the city. Thanks.
@@WalkAboutWayne thanks Wayne, much appreciated! Good prices. I hadn't thought about it until I saw your channel recently and it's a lot safer than motorbikes!! I have been to CM twice, so I know what to expect traffic-wise post-c-ovid!!!
@@garyfriend7759 No worries mate. You can pick up something here cheap (ish) second hand. Yes, maybe people say Bicycle is the most dangerous here, i'm confused by that really. In my opinion, riding a bicycle is loads safer than riding a motorbike. Thanks.
Yep, he was asking regarding that there were not any vloggers in Chiang Mai, obviously I put him right on that point, he actually put up one of your vids live.
Prices crazy ur average nomad is a pauper..also my god think all that outside foodbrought in its gonna get claggy n stinky within a year. I think theyve over thought this cement bunker bless them.
Not a tech guy, but might use the sound proof room. ( Was going to say for my 3" long times. But was scolded here for being very inappropriate. So I won't do it. ). And wonder. if Bret Dev has a opinion. Thanks.
Looks awesome, but expensive, too expensive for me...how much is if you just want to go there and work for a few hours? I make 500bath/hour, it would make no sense for me to go there and spend it all for room rental, food and coffee !
It's a great place, no stone is left un turned at ALT. It's catered for people who want to feel part of a family, but of course , you can go there on a day pass too. It might be a little expensive for some but Jon has made something unique at this place.
Thanks for this Wayne! I will be moving my business to Chiang Mai in 3 weeks. Much of my decision was due to watching so many of your videos and learning all about Thailand. I owe you a few beers when I get there! I have taken inspiration from you and will also ve vlogging the entire process! I love the concept of this co-working space but I can't justify the price. 😟
Hi Dave, that's great to hear that my videos can help people coming to Chiang Mai. I never say no to beers mate 🤣. Great to hear about the vlogging to Dave, sounds like a great idea. Thanks again for liking the channel mate 🙏
Looks like a big gamble to me. Building such a big operation in such uncertain times. I would have thought the success of a place like that is dependent on international borders opening again soon. I wish John luck but I'm glad I'm not an investor. Tough environment to do business in.
I think the whole idea of this place is to not be like a hotel. It's a Co-Living space where you live with other Coworkers. It's very popular and always busy now. Thanks 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne if he can hold out When I was a digital nomad before I switched careers. It was 90 percent UK, EU, and Australians using co-working. The UK won't be returning to this area anytime soon. Just because the quarantine is almost 2500 pounds. Australia might impose that on Thailand also after learning that Thailand said they were no longer going to contain but learn how to live with it. Sorta like going for herd immunity. I also think that with China barring English taut by forign tutors online and Vietnam being under almost military lockdown. Where they leave their homes at all. SE Asia is going to be in for a suprise I think. I am still in groups for tele_workers and digital nomads. The tele-wprkers won't ever be back if the work in the US ,EU,UK. As most companies had given all of there workers at certain levels base salaries. Plus Cost of living adjustments. If the choose to live somewhere else they would adjust there pay. People who moved from California are looking for as much as 50k pay reduction. Digital Nomad said that 1500 digital nomads arrived in Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico in the last 8 months. That may have something to do with mass exit from Vietnam. Theyvare currently taking two studies to see where every one came from and of the are staying on that side of the world. Yet learning all this info over the past week has me feeling that tourism still might not come back for year or more to Chaing Mai. As the majority of tourist come from China. Yet less than 10 percent of Chinese tourist visit the North, Same with Japan. I just think people are about to be in for a huge shock.
Bah! I don’t like it one bit! I think he’s ripping people off tbh, its modern with not a hint of Chiang Mai, you could live in there and forget you were even IN Chiang Mai. It just creates more of a divide between Thais and farangs with farangs hanging out in their super cool trendy expensive space all the time. Not impressed! 😂
I can see you don't like Co-Working spaces Rebecca 🤣🤣. I agree it's not for everyone, i'm not a coworker myself, not my thing. John is a nice guy though and the building is amazing.
