One of my favorite parts of Tom's channel is just the sheer variety. Like, yes, the longer series are amazing, but getting to see so many different, unique, and original games like this one is fan-tucking-fastic

@@professorpwerrel 100% agree. Its a common practice and its generally frowned at in the gemdev community. As for the art style, art is not my strong point, so i stick with what i can draw myself. I am however slowly getting better and im sure the graphics in my solo project will improve as time goes on :D
If you’re looking for a game that’s *kind of* like that, check out Death Road to Canada. I say *kind of* because it’s not *that much* like Oregon Trail, but there are some similarities.

There was a mobile version of a similar game called Magic Survival. That was fun for a bit... but seeing as it was a mobile game I got burned out easily
TOM!!!! I found an amazing game in itch called "Backpack Hero", it's a rougelike dungeon crawler with inventory management at it's core. Pretty fun short game to try! :D

This game might be pretty rip-offy (that's a word now) but if we're being honest, it's not like Vampire Survivors is the most original game out there. Pretty sure I've played flash versions of this type of game 15-20 years ago. Damn, I'm old.

My brain thought he was gonna play an Organ Trail type game but this was fun too! Organ Trail is old but I would love to see Tom play it if only for the random lore he makes up on the spot.
I'd say this game suffers from one major issue: You can get hit from the same projectile more than once. Or rather, it hits you more times than it should when it passes through you. Most games have check to see if its the same hit or a new hit when caculataing damaging, or have some sort of "wait" to make sure the damage only tics so often
Ground poultry eh, sounds like something I once saw on a game where you go through streets that are somewhat full of rage. Avenue Anger I think it was called. Unique!

I can't wait until steam is flooded with clones. Like one about vampires? Please, who would buy that. For my more serious take, yeah, it's a clone of vampire survivors. However, I feel like that there is enough here to make it feel distinct enough. The mini boss is cool and some of the weapons are fun and unique (rocket and gas can). However, some weapons are just straight up garbage (the knife, punch, and twirls for example). With some work, it could probably really good.
I mean vampire survivors is a rip off. Though tbh the concept is not exactly ground breaking so I personally don´t care if someone makes their twist on it. Though this one is a bit lazy.
@@knightbread there was an Android game that came out Feb 2021 called magic survival, vampire survivors came out a month and a half later on itch, and this game came out last week. seems legit
On Steam this game ALSO only costs $2.99. I don't actually like that since it's, well, kind of weird to copy just EVERYTHING about Vampire Survivors. I mean, you made a game that is functionally identical and costs the same, without providing much if any innovation. The formula is the same, this is basically just a reskin.
i like how people are upset at the fact that this game has a strong simularity to vampire survivors, was it inspired? yes, was it indeed named closely to vampire survivors? yes, but truly it feels different i have played both and they both have there unique gamepaly aspects, and its funny because the term "copy" in the gaming community is completely subjective, the art style is different the way the game progresses the characters are different so if you think that its a blatant copy than say that about any genre of the same category, because no matter how unique they try to be you can always just say, meh its just another copy and completely let your bias ruin the game for you. but that is my take on it.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 842 Ok, going to admit it took until 0:50 to figure it out, all the while thinking "This game reminds me of Vampire Survivors" But the game does add some differences that I like and would love to see it develop into it's own thing :D
You mean like what happened to "magic survivors?" Don't pretend the Vampire Survivors devs are blameless here either. This one was just more shameless about it.
@@Cyberpansy i will agree only because the names are one word away from being the same and it was released a few days ago, the concept for this game is nothing remotely new, I have played rogue-lite bullet hell games before, years ago
It's not hard it's just timing for those punches Also never go for more exp. Levels are capped and that's something you could have chosen a gun for instead lol You're a funny guy Tom, really funny, but brain seem to hurty a lot
