TORO IS COOL THE HORSEPOWER IS EASY. 828 IS 8 HORSEPOWER 928 IS 9 HORSEPOWER 1028 IS 10 HORSEPOWER AND SO ON... The front number designates the horsepower.. At least they actually tell you in the model which is cool.

One thing I can't believe about this model IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE HD VERSION ALL THE BEST RIGHT!! NO HAND WARMERS 🤣 Even the 826 not the HD version with the same size engine HAS HAND WARMERS. You could see there's a little place for the switch right on the top deck but they didn't put it in.. they only have them on the more expensive models in the HD version But for the non-HD version the 826 has them weird!! This is why I bought the POWERMAX 826 BATTERY VERSION!! Exact same model as the 826 in every way but it runs on batteries with an electric motor simply amazing. The only problem with the PowerMax E26 battery version is that they are so off about how long the batteries last You get a big driveway I would stick with the gas version unless you have lots of money because the batteries cost $350 a piece to buy a bunch of batteries. In deep snow You only get about 30 minutes with any two stage battery powered snowblower with the Toro being the best. Think about snow going for 30 minutes then you have to charge your snow blower for 3 and 1/2 hours over and over again. They do have another port for a third battery but again $350 You can also have fast chargers if you like That will charge it in an hour and a half. FOR HOW MUCH THEY LIED SAYING THE E26 CAN DO A 30 CAR DRIVEWAY IN 10 10 IN OF SNOW IS SUCH A BLATANT LIE.. Don't know how they test these snow blowers but It wasn't in real world situation.. Because of these lies trying to get people to buy them and that's why most of them will buy that battery version.. THEY SHOULD GIVE EVERYONE FAST CHARGERS AND A THIRD EXTRA BATTERY.. Rant over great video!!

Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. I haven't had an opportunity to try the battery powered version. But we do have a very long driveway.

I JUST tried my new 824 . It will not blow 2 inches of water- snow. Any machine will blow light fluffy snow. My problem is we don't always get light fluffy snow. I called the Toro Canada - USA phone line, it didn't work. Your comment ",I have never used a snow blower before "at 9:50 Makes me wonder why you are doing this video.

Hi Brian - we have a lot of heavy wet snow from lake-effect snow storms. My 828 has had no issues with it. This is the first blower I've ever owned. It's been easy to learn, and does a great job! Thanks for watching and commenting.

You may want chains if you get ice, or mix of snow, ice, and sleet.... You might want to mod the fins by adding rubber flapper to the fins if you might have wet snow of slush. Do a search snow blower clogging and fixing.
@PurpleCollarLife
@PurpleCollarLife 3 года назад
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. That wet heavy snow storm was the only chance we've had to use it yet. There were no signs of clogging at the time. These Toro Power Max blowers have a patented anti-clogging system, that diverts potential clogs and re-circulates any snow through the auger that didn't make it out the chute. I can't wait to try it at full capacity, but in 10-18 inches, it powered through without a single clog.

For the fuel shutoff valve ; in the horizontal position / imagine a pipe with something flowing through it , in this case obviously it’s gas. The handle is IN LINE with flow . When you turn the handle to the vertical (up & down) position , you’re opposing flow ; therefore cutting it off. Once you see it , you’ll realize how simple it is . That being said , I agree , they could have labeled it .

@muzikmon2267

The fuel shut off is very self-explanatory. It's just like a ball valve on a hose. Straight left and right obviously the fuels on.. If you go straight up and down the valve closes and it's off exactly like a ball valve on your hose.
@PurpleCollarLife
@PurpleCollarLife 2 года назад
It's still confusing to me. I don't know which way the fuel line is running behind that plastic cover to determine which way the valve is going parallel or perpendicular to the hose direction.

Toro USED to be one of the best, but the newer ones are built alot cheaper and the reason their not heavy (like the guys says) is because even if it all metal, the metal is thin and easily bends. They do blow snow very well but ice chunks may start to bend things if you're not careful.

In the days of horsepower ratings the first 8 of 828 would have meant 8 horsepower engine and 28-inch clearing path is you said. Airens used to make snow blowers that could have their front ends swapped out for a lawnmower attachment. It's probably why the old less aggressive tires were around as snow long. I'm kind of glad we moved away from that.

I purchased a new Toro Power Max HD 1232 for this coming winter season. The only difference is the 1232 model has trigger steer instead of auto steer. I have rough terrain in the back yard where my outbuildings are. During my research, I found some would complain about having to fight auto steer in some situations such as grass at the edge of driveways or sidewalks and hard packed snow areas. Some even complained about denting their vehicles because of the auto steer making unexpected turns while blowing alongside vehicles. That is why I opted for the trigger steer. Toro makes one of the best snow blowers for the money. And the joystick control is why many choose Toro over other brands. No electrical switches to fail or badly placed shoot controls to fumble around with. Toro hit it out of the park with that clever invention. Hopefully we get some good snow falls here in southeastern Michigan so I can try out my new machine. Enjoyed your well put together video. Love your dog too. Have a blessed and safe winter.
@PurpleCollarLife
@PurpleCollarLife Год назад
Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed the video. I agree about the joystick control. I remember seeing old snow blowers where you had to turn two different cranks what seemed like 100 times each to adjust the up and down and side to side of the chute. Thanks for leaving the comment. Hopefully we will hear from you again on other videos.

Don't worry about those skids. You'll be replacing them after the first couple of seasons. They are so thin they won't last long (junk) then you'll be able to replace them with the plastic ones, which will probably last a little longer.

Replace the auger bolts with actual shear bolts. Bought the 724 power max. Great Machine. Hit something in a snow pile the second year of ownership and the bolts didn't shear, just ripped apart the auger. The dealer called Toro and they told him the belts should slip and engine should cut out, that's what it is designed to do. He argued with them on what a poor design that is. They picked up, fixed my blower, made sure to check the auger gears because the blower didn't stop running, delivered it back to me, all under warranty repair. That dealership will continue to have my business.

That is great your dealer went to bat for you concerning your damaged augur. It would be nice if Toro or someone would make sheer bolts for the power max HD models. It only takes a split second to tear things up no matter how strong they build the augur systems.

Nice looking dane. Is Olive a mix? We had a fawn colored great dane (named Hebrew) and we called him Brute, and he surely was that. Well trained and well mannered. Well, I guess you'll soon be using the snow blower unless you already got some snow. That was pretty neat how clean the snow blower cleared a path in the yard. I never used one and my snow experience was with a shovel. That's how I made money as a kid growing up. We'd go door to door and shovel pavements for 50 cents or a dollar. Big money as a youngster. A days work brought home 5 to 7 dollars (which was a good day). I wore out more sets of CheapO gloves on a regular basis. Funny when your wife said..."you scratched up our sidewalk?" I see you soft-shoed right through her direct question and briefly jumped to a different subject (good evasive move....chuckle😄). We call that survival 😄. You might want to get a set of those plastic skids before the next plowing over the concrete. Very informational video. I notice Jennfer had a lot of good one-liners throughout the video🙂. A week later, I became seriously ill and was laid up for a couple months and did not use the snowthrower again. Hello. I don't have a video on how to drain the gas tank or the carb. If you just filled the tank in February (8 months ago), your fuel might still be okay. Maybe fill the tank up with some new gas, and then start and run it until it's empty? That would be my guess. I think there's probably a drain on the carburetor, but my snow blower is currently in storage at the BACK of my garage and I can't easily get to it. Let us know what you find out. I will stick with my 35 year old John Deere.

Being a Deere, I imagine it still runs and works good. So there's nothing wrong with that!

I purchased a 824 QXE single stage. It has the drive system where you push on the handlebar to get the tires to turn, no reverse. It has the plastic transmision housing. DO remove the wheels and apply grease or anti seize compound as there was none applied at the factory and there was surface rust already on the axle. DO NOT allow the axle to slide to the other side, as it does not want to go back so you can put the wheel back on. Even the dealer could not get it back on. It required a mechanic from a special shop to get it back together. I don't know how they did it. If you get a flat tire in the future the wheel will need to be removed, and road salt and water can freeze the wheels to the axle with rust if this preventative maintenance has not been done. Just be very careful if you have this model.

That's series of single stage snow blowers does intrigue me especially since tomorrow is the only company currently making a single stage that has powerd wheels. After reading your comment I think I'll stick with my used to 2 stage Craftsman.

There are two shear bolts in the auger shaft. I can see them
@PurpleCollarLife
@PurpleCollarLife 3 года назад
I've seen those too - but I don't know that they're shear bolts. The information on the machine says there are no shear bolts, and that if you hit something, the engine shuts off instead of shearing a pin/bolt.

I have the same machine. They are shear bolts. I’ve replaced them once. The machine does what you say it does tho.

@@wesmccoy7061 Thanks for sharing. I've never broken/sheared anything in my machine, and I've gone through some heavy snow and picked up some #3 gravel from the driveway. So far, I've never even had it cut out on me. It's a great machine.

The two bolts you see are not shear pin type bolts. They are hardened steel bolts that do not break, engine will automatically shut off if you hit something really solid. You can probably replace the bolts with shear pins if you like replacing them though!

@@PFred-ew4zd Thanks! I appreciate you letting me know for sure. I was 99% sure there were no shear pins. :)
