China really has come a long way, just look at all the safety equipment present in this video: panic stop bars/buttons everywhere, sealed operator cabins, crush protection and guards, eye and ear protection safety guards and handrails. It is amazing.

Surprisingly inefficient! In the US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, etc you would see blazing speed, less labor, and high use of lasers and other technologies. The production line you see here is what someone would have worked on 50 years ago.

Reminds me of the corrugated box industry. We made triplewall sheets almost as strong as plywood. Then converted them into bulk totes and shipping containers.

I worked at Douglas County Lumber Company a s young adult after High School. Each shift was putting out 285,000 board feet of Lumber a shift mainly because the trees were one log loads. 20 of those logs shown in your video still wouldn't make one log. Douglas County was known all over the world as the Timber Capitol of the World and Sutherlin, where I'm from is where all the worlds best loggers came to compete in logging events called the Timber Days Festival. Because of the extinction of the spotted owl, it is now called the Strawberry Festival. Car show, hot rods, bike shows, choppers. Rodeos and such.

I know there are ghost towns all over Oregon and Washington because all the old growth timber was logged off. That may have something to do with the lack of logging jobs. And spotted owls. They're birds after all and they live only in old trees. But the main point is, if trees are cut faster than they can grow back, eventually there are not enough trees to sustain the jobs. I saw it in California too. Georgia-Pacific was bought by Maxxam, a New York financial firm. They ordered the company to cut every redwood they could, as fast as possible. 98% of the old growth coast redwoods were gone by the time the state stopped it. You can blame the tree huggers if you want, but they didn't cut down the trees. Big business did.

looks like they are still making plywood the old fashioned way, there is a good video of Georgia Pacific makeing OSB that is done in a completely different way.

Then I looked the manufacturer and guess what it use to be North American owed the Chinese is buying everything up in north American we have been sold out decades ago
