I'm Irish, my boyfriend is Californian. I've mocked him mercilessly for calling a kettle a 'water cooker', but I'll stop making fun of him now since hearing Morgan calling it that. If it's a Morgan Approved description, it's now good enough for me.

Lol, at least a water boiler as opposed to a water cooker. But a kettle is what is Aussies call it. Thanks for the update and new education.

Hi! I believe it's because electric kettles are called 'Wasserkocher' in German, which literally means 'water cooker'. (I'm from the US and living in Austria.) They're gaining popularity in the US, both of my sisters love them!

Having just come back from a hotel every night in the span of a few weeks, I appreciate space, a clean room & bathroom, a shower door (not a curtain), and a place where to relax other than the lobby is great, but that green space you had was golden❤

Glad you found this piece of paradise in Hawaii. I like the idea of the tiki bar and pool in the center of the property. Sounds like a private oasis amid the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.

When the wife and I were last year we stayed across the street at the Island Colony condos. We were walking to Marugame Udon when we noticed the White Sands and said it looked fun.

Wow! I think it’s a great room and view. Love the old vibe to it. Also love the big mural behind the beds. It’s a quaint and cozy looking hotel.

Nice room. I stayed at the Hale Koa. You will need to find a military or government sponsor to stay there. I think most if not all hotel lobbies in Hawaii are that open air style.

The outside views of the hotel made me want to immediately book a flight to your "private" paradise. Oh well, maybe someday. To be fair, the weather in Minnesota is beautiful right now. The lilacs are gorgeous this year.

I have obnoxiously sensitive hearing but I would choose this hotel and room. Having issues with sound for more than 5 decades means I've had ample time to develop multiple ways to deal with it, and the cost of the room compared with what I usually pay for hotel rooms, even in fairly bad hotels, would make me willing to pull out those coping strategies.

I need to find out which coping strategies work. I have had sensitive hearing issues combined with pulmonary tinnitus. Some days it's better than other days.

@@Stephanie-likes-StarTrek I mostly use ear buds, with or without something playing, at night I use ear plugs, and when I'm in a hotel or similar, I spend a good 15 or so minutes meditating and focusing on the sounds around me, to try and put them in a space where they're expected and understood. It's not the same as having no noise, but it makes it workable for me. Of course, I can't deal with it constantly for days. I need at least some sort of quiet break.

I love Waikiki!! I’ve been several times and you are definitely in the best area. My favorite hotel is The Laylow on Kuhio. It’s part of Marriott’s Bonvoy so I can use points but I’ve also had family book the Laylow on Priceline.

Love that fact that it seems so private. It looks really relaxing. I've never been to Waikiki. I have visited Maui and I highly recommend Kapalua Villas if you ever visit there.

We're not big fans of Honolulu and typically only stay at most a day if necessary before we move on to another island. On any island in Hawaii if we're staying for any length of time (and why wouldn't you?) we go the AirBnB/VRBO route (although Hawaii just made some changes to the short term rental rules, so that may affect future stays).

We stay at Waikiki Shore through vrbo. Cheaper than booking direct with hotel. It has been a few years for us as we found we like Maui better. More our vibe and not like Vegas on the beach.

Looking for your opinion on dress code for Viva river cruises - we are trying to do carry on only since we are interlining airline flights. Also going to look at going to a concert in Vienna. Bringing my 2 teenage sons. Will definitely pack them some nice golf shirts and a pair of pants but would you suggest a button down shirt? Are sandals with a dress ok for me for dinner and music venues?

I would say, if you can fit a button down shirt, you should bring them for the boys. Also, one thing I think that makes a big difference in the shoes. That's hard when you just have a carry on, but I would say most European males will wear nice shoes when going out in the evening. I have never seen anyone here wear something like Crocks to a restaurant, and DEFINITELY not to a concert hall! You will be fine with sandals and a dress. I hope that helps and I hope you have a great cruise!

Where are the thousands of tourists screaming in the walkway? I missed that part and the part where somebody's children are terrorizing others unchecked because the parents are "on vacation".
