So here we go, amazing puff pastry Christmas trees: two irresistible appetizer recipes!
To make the feta cheese and spinach stuffed Christmas tree, you will need:
150 g feta cheese
100 g defrosted spinach
3 cloves garlic
1 egg
pinch salt
freshly ground black pepper to taste
300 g puff pastry
1 egg to grease the dough
10 g parmesan
5 g black sesame seeds for sprinkling
To make the parmesan and olive stuffed Christmas tree, you will need:
300 g puff pastry
30 g parmesan
0,5 tsp. dried basil
0,5 tsp. dried garlic
25 g chopped olives
1 tbsp. crushed pumpkin seeds
1 egg to grease the dough
5 g sesame seeds for sprinkling
The steps are:
Let's start preparing a Christmas tree from feta cheese and spinach.
Place feta cheese, defrosted spinach, squeezed out of excess liquid, grated garlic, egg, salt, and freshly ground black pepper into a bowl. Mix everything well.
Lay out a layer of puff pastry. Place the filling on it and spread it over the surface. Roll up and cut into 16 pieces of 2-2.5 centimeters each. We lay out the pieces in order in the shape of a Christmas tree, as shown in the video. Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with grated Parmesan and black sesame seeds. Bake at 200°C (392°F) for 30-35 minutes.
Let's start forming the second Christmas tree with Parmesan cheese and olives. Grate Parmesan, cut the olives into rings, and chop the pumpkin seeds. Next, unroll the layer of puff pastry. I have a large layer of dough, so I cut off the excess and got 25x30 centimeters. Divide the dough into three parts, as shown in the video. Place the outer cut pieces of dough on a baking sheet and connect them together to form a Christmas tree shape. Brush the middle with beaten egg. Place half of the grated Parmesan on the resulting base, followed by dried basil, dried garlic, olives, pumpkin seeds and the remaining Parmesan. We make sure that the center, greased with egg, is clean, without filling. Cover the top with dough, lightly pinch the edges, press the middle so that it sticks to the bottom of the dough. Next, cut into strips of 1.5 centimeters, without touching the glued middle of the dough, as shown in the video. Twist each strip several times, carefully so that the filling does not spill out. As a result, we get the shape of a beautiful Christmas tree. Brush with egg and sprinkle with white sesame seeds. Bake at 200°C (392°F) for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly and serve.
