Abitosh I mean it's ripped and it needs to be cleaned... I have to pay someone to restore it for me and Its gonna sit in the store until I can find a buyer... I mean I would offer you alot of money but we can't prove the blanket was owned by Kit Carson.( Camera cuts away to mark to explain prominance and who Kit Carson was then cuts back to Rick) would you take 50 bucks for it?
E2 M5 Fuck off with your PC bullshit, shitting on a heart warming moment, Christ, everything has to turn into toxic identity politics now days. Sickening.
He's probably thinking "God fucking damnit I'm 70 years old and I've been living a mediocre life with a fucking woven slab of gold sitting around the whole time"
Ictus no one exist on purpose lmfao what the fuck does that even mean man. i can't believe 6 inbreds liked your fake deep comment. no one exist on purpose? did your "parents" not plan on having you hahahaha seriously elaborate what you're saying
Dude I thought that was a blanket covering up what was underneath... I didn't realize until 2 mins in that the blanket was the item... #ReadTheTitleFirstLOL
The Blanket was eventually sold at auction but the price was never revealed ... how ever a similar blanket, owned by a disabled man on a small pension .... was sold at auction for over 1.5 million dollars.
Paul Denet : .. Not so... this auction house charge 15% BUYERS premium ... so the BUYER pays the 15% (that's IT no hidden charges) ... taxes I don't know how that works in the US ... but it'd be at his Max tax rate ... maybe $20% ..
Yeggster Shane doesn't matter who paid. If the buyer paid the 15% and it was 100k then it means sold for 115k and 15k was paid to he auction house. Wording is just bullshit to trick the sheep of who is making money and who isn't.
honestly, its ripped and has been repaired. as youve said it sat on a chair. theres sun damage and wear and tear, plus i have to put it on display and its a large object with a very niche market. best i can do it 50 bucks. and im being generous. *laugh* -Rick Harrison
the same that the other guy who saw this show, who had a similar blanket at home he's had in his family for a while. Went to auction and sold it for 1.5 million.
Guess that warning all our moms gave us about how nothing we post ever goes away is true. The next RU-vid type service will have this video, guaranteed.
Two different situations. No we just want oil, the land is shit, so are the people. Go their sometime you will realize within minutes that place will not be missed. Islam is evil check it out.
As a Native American born for the Navajo tribe its hard to see someone own a piece of your history when you know that your chief was striped of he's positions by kit carson and sent to walk over 1,500 miles through harsh conditions only to be turned around and be placed on reservations while people in kit Carson family get benefits like this. But props to this guy
But isn't it nice that the value its been given is what makes people restore and search for it? I believe that this kind of thing is what Keeps the search of your lineage active.
Zack Tron gotta like this cos youre the only #nativeamericanpride comment I've seen that hasnt whined about whose ancestors might have killed and stolen things from other peoples ancestors. Thank you for being sane
Pawn stars: Navajo Expert: this is worth ATLEAST 2.7 billion. Rick Harris(asking the seller):so how much do you want for it. Seller:1500? Rick Harris: 😂😂😂 hahahahaha!!! No I can only do 5 bucks.
I expected the auctioneer to say it's valed at $50000000 or something like that If deal half a million You'll be lucky to buy a house with half a mill these days
Good thing it was stolen from our people. But as my grandfather would always say. Never live with hatred in your heart. Good for him. Hope he enjoys his wealth
Crikey... it's basic knowledge that sheeps don't die from the process. In fact, they get the benefit of not dying from the accumulated sun's heat underneath the wool.
No offense to the Navajo people, but that looks like a blanket you can get at Target. Now, if only I was proficient at backwards reading, this crap video would make sense.
Callie Masters it is more than that, the traditonal way it was woven, took a very long process, we did not have just "dyes around" we'd go out looking for the berrys or the pigments from plants to boil into the fibers to make them that color, for that blanket alone, many trips had to have been made. To top it off, boil it for more by just a few seconds, and youve have an offset color that wouldnt match, this blanket is a simple but complex creation. I hope this sheds some light
realswhattheytellyou Thieves? Should we begin to talk about all the raids and massacres Natives led, or am I not allowed to bring up history because it might hurt your feelings?
It was given to the adoptive father of his grandmother by kit Carson, who probably got it from a trade, by a person who got it from a trade with navajo natives. Shut the fuck up, it was fair trade, noone knew it would be worth this much, its slight of a miracle that it wasnt torn to shreds.
It may be a brief video, but this man seems like a genuinely good person and it makes me smile. He seems like he still appreciates the heritage of the blanket, and its history within his family, despite the fact that it is worth so much. I am sure that he sold it, but it is nice that he didn't take it here simply to try and get something for it, he wanted to see what other's with more information of the subject thought of it.
Bless his heart. Yep, most Americans are middle income salt of the earth hard-working people. Glad he's gotten a few shiny pennies to live out his life comfortably on.
tam phan I think all the person above meant in his or her comment about shiny pennies--a valuable item that can bring him a substantial amount of money.
