That's just WOW. thank you for sharing and taking the time to bring it back to such beauty. I can never understand how people can paint and then miss treat wooden furniture. It always upsets me when people abuse wooden furniture so badly. My Dad did restoration for a living and i have come to appreciate wooden furniture and in treating the wood respect the makers of them.
Because it’s not valuable to their aesthetic. This kind of furniture looks old and fusty to many people. Perhaps the man who used it in his garage already had a household full of furniture he, and presumably his wife, had. Different times, different styles Sometimes furniture and other pieces of things special to the elders are a burden.
Hi Melinda. I think he had no clue how to restore it. Under the paint, it was in pretty bad shape. So, I give him a little credit for NOT just taking it to the landfill. At least he got some more use out of it until he was ready to pass it on to me!
I agree Ametrinefire. I believe that people will begin to have an appreciation again of the beauty of wood grain and stained furniture. The pendulum will swing back...
@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit truth is a beautiful job and I wish you could come to my house and fix mine. I have one in my bedroom and love it if even though it needs restoring
I’m speechless! And have to say a little emotional, this was a straight up rescue! And the patina on her looks like normal wear and tear not like she’d been abused for years. Thank you for this restoration ❤️❤️❤️
Oh gee Desiree thanks so very much!!! I too was very emotional. I was so frustrated because I was afraid I would have to paint it!!! When I began to apply the stain, I could still see a few of the marks but the stain covered them beautifully. Well, 3 coats of the stain!
thankfully I think the primer protected the top from damage from his tools and things. Beautiful job. I've had my eye on a waterfall dresser in a junk shop. This gives me some ideas.
This restoration job is masterful. You were very patient and focused! I might have been tempted to give up after bleach application 3 or 4, but YOU persisted and got the desired result! What a beautiful piece.
You are a miracle worker!!! Simply gorgeous!!! I have a waterfall dresser in my garage I have been staring at and working around for way too long. You have motivated me to work on it. Thank you. And thank you for doing these videos, you are extremely inspiring.
Absolutely Amazing! The time and dedication and tenacity you put into this! Getting it a showroom status is unbelievable! Super major props! The gorgeous finish totally brings me back to happy memories of digging throw ma grams drawers for hidden treasures. Tin containers of colorful buttons, scraps of her fav fabric for patchwork, yarn, threads, ornaments, beads and bobbles. So many cherished times. Thank you for bringing those back to light. Like a comfort food visual memory. 🥰❤️
This is my favorite video so far! I fell in love with waterfall furniture when I was young because both of my grandmothers had waterfall bedrooms. I was excited when I saw the thumbnail because I knew what was going to be under that primer and I wasn’t disappointed. 😍 The veneer repair was very educational.
Holy moly that is gorgeous!! A tool box, I think NOT!! Thank you for saving this piece, and appreciating it enough to bring it back to it’s natural beauty!!!
Omg!!!! What a beautiful piece of furniture! I am so glad that it came to your hands. And that as a restorer, painting is not your only vision, as are some. Keep up the good work! Kindest Wishes from New Zealand.
I have no words other than I am BLOWN AWAY at your INCREDIBLE work!! First, the piece is STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS. You performed miracles with this one. The amount of damage, repairs and just mistreatment of it was overwhelming. Only to find yet another gem (also for almost free) with just a bit of hard work and determination. I was shocked when I saw that inlay in the trim too! Thank you for bringing her back to life and restoring her true beauty. You are truly a master at what you do.💜
Thanks so much Ashley!!!!! I too was surprised that I was able to restore the finish. It would have been SO MUCH EASIER to just paint the body and stain the drawers. If I had painted it I knew that I would hear from my wonderful viewers that I did not try hard enough! LOL!!!! I do hear you (my viewers) and you all motivated me to push through! I am glad I did!
The dresser is GORGEOUS!!! Thank you for sharing your techniques and the process of restoring this worthy piece. If furniture could talk, before you restored it this piece it was screaming in pain. Now is singing a beautiful happy song. 😄
Beautiful. I just got a waterfall wardrobe that I haven’t started yet mainly bc I wasn’t sure where to start. You have given me the inspiration to jump in. Thank you
As you were revealing more and more of the original art of the piece, I realized my parents bedroom suite is this type/style of work. My 92 year old Mother still uses. Bed frame, hi boy and vanity w tufted stool. I have always loved it. So glad it is in great shape and being used. Your work is a piece of ART!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm generally not a fan of Art Deco design but I have a fond spot in my heart for these old waterfall dressers. My grandmother had one with the matching vanity and I have such fond memories. You did a beautiful job bringing this grand lady back to life.
Beautifully done and what a challenge. My mother had a waterfall cedar chest that my sister restored.......just beautiful. You have done a lot of work on those bad spots........wow what an amazing recovery on that piece........Kudos and thank you for loving the furniture and bringing them back to life.
I have never used this wood bleach before. It is actually hard to find! Regular bleach would never have lightened it enough so I was glad that I had the Zinsser. The only place I could find it was Menards. I had to have it shipped to me.
I love watching you restore pieces! I have several dressers in my basement that you have inspired me to try to restore. The pieces were my grandmother’s.
The transformation is incredible. Discovering that detail between the drawers must have been a wonderful experience. What a find. All your hard work was well worth it. You’ve got a good eye.
My grandmother had a whole bedroom set of the when I was a child. I thought it was so beautiful. I think I need to start looking for my own now. I still love it! You did beautiful job of restoring this piece.
I actually said "Wow" aloud when I saw the finished piece. That is just beautiful and masterfully done. Because of you and a few other videos of yours I've been binging, I'm considering trying to flip. I'm out of the workforce right now due to recovering from leukemia. A side-hustle sure would help. Bless and thank you!
That's incredible! I didn't know you could repair veneer, I'll have to rethink my next project. I'm happy you paid as much attention to the inside of the dresser as the outside. I see so many pieces redone with no attention to the interior. Beautiful job!
You have uncovered a gem here. I personally love the 'waterfall' period of architecture and furniture, it is intricate and stylish just what your care and patience has uncovered and respected. Thank you.
Do you know how much that has woke me up to what can be done? I love Art deco and this has got my mind blown. You have done the most fabulous job. I LOVE IT ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad! You can get piece on Facebook Marketplace for such a reasonable fee. Of course, some are grossly over priced but if you keep watching you will be amazed what you find. I also find good pieces at Habitat for Humanity Restore or Salvation Army or GoodWill. I am so glad that I have inspired you! That makes my heart sing!
Just the strip of inlay between the top & middle drawer made all your efforts worthwhile! Amazing woodworking and great restoration! Thank you for rescuing that absolute beauty!
I just shake my head whenever I see your videos - the paint crimes! All your pieces are so lucky they come into your possession. Thanks again for such a beautiful transformation.
Thank you Vincent!! Watch my channel to see the one I am doing this week! I have not started on it yet but it should be spectacular. It is a 100 year old roll top desk. so cool! needs a lot of work but I think I can bring it back!
Lovely job. I collect waterfall furniture. It all began with a dresser which belonged to my grandmother who passed when I was 9 months old. Now I’m 63 and have three bedrooms of waterfall furniture, a sewing machine cabinet, buffet, desk and living room end table. A few pieces need a little work, but for their age they are remarkable.
