@@ATDerner Ooh a very good point there! I love the Sharpe series myself, and was even inspired to become a reenactor because of it. Since then I've fired muskets, fired cannons, fought in plate armour with an array of different weapons... good stuff!
Hey Tom! Here's a few tips I've gathered from my time playing. Always pick the mortar! The sooner the better, it has constantly done the most damage in all of my games. Get flamethrowers so you don't die to the robots like you did in this run. They're great against armor. Use Frost Keeps! They do decent damage and the slow is imperative if you want to win. You'll need poison for the later rounds so either get poison sprayers or pick poison upgrades for other towers. When you have the funds, try to use a bunch of Shredders, they're very versatile. Try out the radar! It deals loads of damage. Even 8 different towers isn't too many, just don't pick towers that are heavy on the mana until you find the siphon. Don't be afraid to sell towers, you get all your money back. (Not including upgrades)
You don't 'need' to get any specific towers really, you can beat the game with just Ballistas if you really want, the most important part of the game is targetting priority and specilizing towers with the upgrade system. Having 3 ballista set separately to health/armour/shield and upgrades to at least +10 on their main target can be much more effective than something like a flame or poison tower. At the end of the day, Tesla towers are king because instant aoe.
Honestly, my recommendation is to always spec into DoTs, irrespective of what towers you want to focus on. Pick a small handful of towers, honestly any 3-4 that come up early, and pick two to upgrade the shit out of in terms of selecting +crit and all 3 added %DoT types. Crits multiply the Dot stacks being applied since they’re based on damage, and 200 dpt each for bleed/flame/poison means any defense type will drain quickly, and once they hit HP they just instantly dissolve. Even better, by focusing on DoTs you don’t need Frost Keeps because of the 5% of poison = % Slow card. Once you’ve got that up, all you need is some boss killers like railguns or obelisks, and that’s assuming you don’t just have the income by then to literally plonk down sprayers and flamers and upgrade them 15 times while the boss walks along. Just by following that strat you can play around with just about any tower combo, since most of them aside from the AoE sprayers can apply all 3 dots with the right upgrades.
This was one of the best Tom games I've seen in a while. Very very fun, loved the video, it looks great! Any chance we could get some more of this one?
Tom's channel is the best steam curator there is and this game never stood a chance, it was gonna end up here one way or another, it was just a matter of when
If you like roguelike tower defence, I recommend Frankenstorm! It's a build your own maze type td, a bit rough around the edges graphically but a solid game!
Hey Tom, just found a roguelike game today I think you'd love! No idea if the comments get to you but honestly anyone else lurking around will probably love it as well! It's called Backpack Hero and it's a free roguelike with a unique core mechanic that reminds me a lot of peglin but instead of making peggle a roguelike it makes... inventory management the core mechanic. That's right, the heart of the game is figuring out how best to stuff loot into your magic backpack! It makes what is usually an annoying chore in games into such a fun puzzle that it gets really addictive really fast and it rewards clever combo building really nicely while still not being too brutal if there is the occasional misplay and it gets regular updates! Did I mention it is free?! Seemed like the sort of game I'd love to see you try out and I didn't know if you'd hear about it otherwise!
If you set the towers on higher elevations you get increased range. You’ll see a +1,+2 etc… when you hover over a hill when deciding where to place the tower
This seems like a good game to do a superchill episode on. I'd love to watch you play this for a hour or so. At least play it for a couple episodes for sure. 😀
I played this game, and to get to where he is... He must have played the game A LOT!!! As I'm watching the video, I would guess he is playing on someone else PC, because 7:42 "the higher the tower is, it gets more range, not damage". Btw, for anyone ho wants to try this game, my advice, poison towers are the best!
lol like Toms vids this one is funny xD it answers the question "What would happen if you gave a youtuber everything unlocked when they dont know how to play?"
Please do another one of these Tom, I'm getting jitters imagining what another episode of this would look like. I think I might bring a gun into school if you don't make a sequel soon!
Hey Tom, real quick, the higher you place towers, the more range they have so placing that tesla on the edge instead of the top reduced its effectiveness.
Daily reminder that His Highness is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 805 OoO, What a fun little game, you can really see how things build up. Would love to see more of it :D Also JESUS CHRIST, this really just went from 1 to 100 at the end there XD my god
I’ve been loving this game, but honestly I feel like the Universities are just such a trap choice. They’re *far* too expensive for the net benefit they provide
i'm really interested in this game but the price tag... it's like twice what i expected... not sure i can justify atm. maybe on sale. game looks great fun though.
I brought this when it came out fun but found it was having errors after trying to run after first play and lost all progress so I refunded from steam. Will check it again in the future once it's had a few patches I think.
