yeah indeed it's made up. Smashing any hard object against a side window will eventually shatter it...i mean...ask Elon about that. There's better things to wack a window with....your elbow for example. saves you a hell of a lot of time from trying to fiddle that headrest out.

The right way to use a headrest to break a window is to drive the end of the rod down between the window and the opening in the body of the door. Now the bottom edge of the glass will be somewhere in the in the middle of the rod. Grabbing the cushion of the headrest, use your strength to pull the headrest away from the window. It it _much_ easier to break the class by attacking the edge than trying to hammer through the glass itself. With much less effort, the entire window (since it's safety glass) will shatter.

rapdri89 thank you I don’t drive but my dad used to have an old Volvo 740 GLE and I remember being in other Volvos where I remember the headrests weren’t removable or adjustable although I do remember the padding of the headrest was as removable but not the headrest itself

You can also use the metal part of the seat belt just in case

Pretty sure even removable headrests aren't actually designed to break the glass, just a byproduct of their design. Did you see how much force that guy needed to actually break the window? Most people would die before breaking a window with their headrest.
