I can't believe this is the same guy who made SE7EN! These 2 films are polar opposites of crime investigation mystery thrillers, both are masterpieces ❤️

I imagine all this difference is because one is a real story and the other a fictional one. In Zodiac he avoided stronger scenes out of respect for the victims and their families. He does something similar in Mindhunter too.

He used the same color grading palette though. The cinematography is similar. He just loves those orange lights in the night and those scenes where a field is yellow-beige and the sky or the water has steely blue color.

In Seven Kevin Spacey is standing in front of beige field with intensively blue sky. In Zodiac it's Napa lake scene, where the lake is intensively blue and the field is beige.

As a child, David Fincher lived in a world with so many dangers, one of them being the first murders of the zodiac killer, he saw how patrols protected school buses, but for him, it was like having a monster close by. And when time passed, he was already grown up. He directed the movie Zodiac, searching for the zodiac killer that terrified him as a boy. And with 3 known actors (Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, and Jake Gyllenhaal) he made one of the masterpieces of his filmography. And as part of his legacy: The concept of cops vs. serial killers was repeated in Mindhunter, which Fincher produced and directed. And The Batman where Se7en and Zodiac inspired him, the riddle was inspired by the murder of the zodiac, both the suit of him, the murder of him, and how he received the messages to the police and investigators.

The movie is very long and it can get tiring at times, but it is crafted masterfully. This is a must-watch for everyone who's getting into thrillers.

This is honestly my favourite David Fincher film and a lot of it is just for some of his great directing. The shots in this movie are beautiful, not to mention what he chooses to place focus on. It’s an absolute tragedy that this film was such a disappointment box office wise

Technically not an independent film given its production budget (much larger than your average indie movie), A-list director and the major studio/s that distributed it. Now I get where you’re coming from, but to be fair, while it wasn’t blockbuster-sized (and it ultimately didn’t blow up the box office) it wasn’t a small film either. Now call it semantics but just saying

With that said, Ruffalo continues to do independent pictures. I mean outside his work in a certain franchise, he’s been acting in *almost* nothing but smaller profile films (a bunch have flown under the radar). As for RDJ, his next film is gonna be a Nolan film. That one definitely won’t be independent, yet it’s most likely gonna be Nolan’s most grounded film since maybe ever. Anyhow, it would definitely be cool to see RDJ in particular act in more different projects overall now that he’s moving on from Tony Stark, but I look forward to seeing both of these guys in whatever future projects they have

This video shows the film's beauty very well. I'd love to see a video on Apocalypse Now. The cinematography to that film is on another level and I feel like The Beauty Of for it just didn't do justice to how good it really looks

Fantastic film! Love this tune aswell, The Hurdy Gurdy Man. Such a weird, creepy song to have playing on the credits of this film, but such a perfect choice. Has an uneasiness to it. Great edit, bud. As always! And Happy New Year 🎉

Is super minor but my fave shot from this movie is when the Zodiac Killer shows the loaded gun to the people near the lake. Like i said, is super minor but it just sticked with me.

idea for a second channel if you ever make one: Amazing Lines. basically the same concept as your current channel but instead of showing a movie's best shots, you can show the movie's best lines. just an idea

That scene with the couple by the lake and the black costume... That s#it really disturbed. First time I watched it, I couldn't get it out of my head for days.
