When testing for leak, you need to have back pressure and the pipe filled with water, so you''ll want to have the shower head attached.

You are correct. My process get a little jacked up because of that big shower head. I did not want any weight on that pipe till the water weld set up. Great catch.

I’m having trouble getting my old arm out of the wall. Don’t want to break it. Any suggestions. Tried using the end of the pipe wrench. I’m a female but pretty strong.

I’m assuming that you are putting a new arm on. I would use the pipe wrench as close to the wall as you can and try to spin it off. Do you know what kind of pipe is in your house?

I live in an apartment and am wondering if it is easy to uninstall also? Does the water weld come off easily?

It is pretty easy to come off: it will mainly be stuck to the pipe and will usually spin off with that.

Hook the shower wand temporarily to the ceiling now you have a rain head with adjustments. Saves money and time.

question: my shower heard comes out the wall and down like yours. I want my rain shower head to go up close to the ceiling and extended about 22-25 inches so it will look like the rainfall is in the middle of the shower tub. how do I do that?

Maybe with cpvc. That is the lightest. If you wanted to pipe up a set up out of copper you could do that, but I would add a support on the ceiling.

I got a KES 16” extension but its a square tube, and after the contractor left the whole that was cut isn’t quite big enough. Square hits the edge as I twist it in. Is it worth trying to use a 1” nipple extension or try to cut the whole bigger?

@@ThatFixItGuy went with a burnt pine shiplap,and used marine seal to make sure it would do ok with the humidity. I did a run to test and I didn’t see any leaks so far. Doubled up the Teflon tape and also used some pipe dope.

Why wouldnt you leave a little gap below the water weld bond so if a leak does present itself it drains out and you can identify potential internal wall damage before it gets serious?

Megalock is not like true blue or a lock tite. It does not get hard that way. It is more like an anti seize and sealant.

The connection at the showerhead is not NPT/tapered but straight IPS and is sealing with a washer so it doesn't need teflon tape

I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen leaks on shower heads that had no Teflon tape on them.

@@ThatFixItGuy But the straight threads are not supposed to seal with tape, you can find shower arm on Amazon for the Euro/asian market and both ends are straight, if you try to seal with tape, garanteed it will leak. That's why I bought silicone gaskets, those rubber ones always dry out and become hard/rot

So what do you do on the other side of the shower arm that goes in the wall? It’s the same NPT. Do you don’t use Teflon on it?

@@ThatFixItGuy That's the thing, the connection in the wall is tapered/NPT so yes tape, connection at the shower head are straight threads.

Why do this when a shower wand hooked temporarily to the ceiling will do the same thing. And you don't need the extra plumbing. Besides the wand has adjustments for different effects. Saving you money and time.
