I never get over just how funny it is to see him just rip out a crazy riff like that, just stop and with a straight face just say "okay" as if it was just the easiest thing ever - dont know why but it cracks me up

Got my bass (Sire M2) four string 10 days ago, Subscribed to your channel, Marcus Miller is my Idol and Run for Cover is 1 of my favorites, Told myself, even if it takes me a year to learn it I will, This lesson made it CRYSTAL clear how to learn it. Might still take me a year but you are spot on, Awesome teacher!

What I like is that he gives the lesson without all the stupid and silliness that MANY of the other so called teachers include. This guy is to the point. Very good for those of us who are ADULTS and don't need silly. Thank you Brother!!!!

there is absolutely nobody that's a more efficient teacher! I'm a working musician and have been a member of local 47 for 21yrs. And if I need to learn the something is actually played as opposed to written I come right over to Talking Bass. I have stated I would love to make a donation to contribute to your generosity and time? I appreciate your help to bassist of all levels

Another great lesson Mark! Marcus Miller has had a huge influence on my bass playing since the late '80's, so thanks for this lesson! I've been playing bass for over 25 years and I too had problems getting that, what I call, a muted hammer/pop triplet down correctly. I love using it now that I know how to do so correctly!

Great lesson for learning this riff quickly. Guys struggling with the quick "pluck pluck thumb" at the beginning of the second bar can try a quick "thumb pluck thumb" instead. If you play the rhythm right it will have the same feel. At least that's easier for me.

Sounds great. I wanted to let the audience know to get that badass slap sound you need to get your strings as close to the fret board as possible. You need a curtain amount of buzz to get that good popping sound. Also it's close action is Easier on the hands. Faster too. Enjoy!

Man, u are a brilliant teacher, I tried loads of other tutorials, but you seem to play with a more natural approach, I've actually got the whole thing, but that appregio mute roll thing is holding me back. It's a real difficult skill, but to hear you had problems with it also encouraged me. I'm still determined to get it. Thanks for helping us guys out, I have subscribed and to say I'm looking forward to more tasks doesn't sound right, but man, thanks. It's like a driving test, I'm dreading it but know the benefits are worth it if I put the time in.

If you struggle getting every movement correct, remember what he says about even Miller himself slightly changing this riff all the time. There really is no definitive way to play this. I think it's most important to get the groove right. If it sounds good, you're playing it good.
