Volume up for this one! Some terrific sounds from these great locos echoing around the centre of Birmingham!
First up are GWR Castles 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' and 7029 'Clun Castle' double-headed for Vintage Trains headed for Hereford and the Welsh Marches. These locos are in great condition and sound absolutely fabulous on entry to the station and also departing.
Next up is D345 heading the Pathfinder 50th Anniversary tour from Burton-on-Trent to Weymouth.. Again - Sounding absolutely great applying the power up the incline and through the tunnel on approach to New Street.
Hope you enjoy this footage - This was great to film :)
Thanks as always for watching..

As the Castles steamed slowly into the station I could see lots of steam above the bridge after they'd passed. I half-expected to see 1054 bringing up the rear.

Impressive arrival by the 40. Actually it's quite nostalgic to see a 47 back at New Street

I remember travelling behind Clun Castle in 63 or 64 between Wolverhampton and Chester. Must have had a King from Paddington but such a long time ago. Nice to see them running well.

It would have been nice if they could have been shining like that in the 1960s

Two Castles in original GWR livery, a rake of correctly liveried 'Shit and Custard' coaches and a Class 47 in BR colours as well. Someone got their act together for this.

Two Castles in British Railways livery, 1 early, 1 late crest.

@@andrewnelson4057 Good spot and accurate as well although Clun Castle was built in the early years of BR.. I was noting the unlined livery on the engines which comes from the 1920s / 30s.

@@1chish On closer inspection, I think you will find they were both in the B R lined livery which in effect was the standard GWR passenger livery of the 1920s with minor adaptations such as the two versions of the BR totem on the tenders and modification of the lining on the locos around the cab.. They were both lined out. The current livery is the only one appropriate for these locos as they were both fitted with double chimnys in the BR period and Clun Castle was not built by the GWR, it was a BR built loco in 1950

@@davidpatrick8599 I never suggested Clun Castle was built by GWR. I said "Clun Castle was built in the early years of BR". And I am sorry I disagree over lined livery.

Is it just me or does anyone else get frustrated when the rake is made up with a mix of different colour carriages

Hang on, if it wasn't for donations and a lot of very hard work they wouldn't be there at all!
