I am not an RC enthusiast, but i *LOVE* this SR-71 model!

I had the privilege of working around the SR-71 in my early USAF career. I was on Okinawa where we called it the “Habu” named after the local snake. I used to park my work vehicle on the flight line just a few hundred yards away from the aircraft. The process to launch the SR is very complicated and scripted down to the minute. When it’s ready to roll a chase car halls down the runway in advance to look for any FOD or any possible people that could be lurking to get a great picture. It stops at the end and the SR takes the active runway and lights off the afterburners which shoots a 30’ flame out the back. Everything for a mile begins to shake and rattle. It’s an awesome spectacle to behold. One of the really neat things is to follow behind it as it taxis. The heat moving off the engines literally makes the plane invisible. You can see through the waves to the other side the aircraft is seemingly gone.

Love that you put NASA markings on it! My late grandfather, Victor Horton, flew backseat on the NASA YF-12 and SR-71 Blackbirds, beginning in 1969. He most often flew with Fitz Fulton, but also made flights with Bill Dana, Tom McMurtry, Don Mallick and others.

This is one of the most stable RC jets flying. Amazing, no flutter no pitch and yaw going on. Awesome build

Amazing to think that the real A-12 / SR-71 was designed and built in the late fifties to early sixties. That’s only sixty years since the first flight of the Wright Flyer. An incredible piece of engineering for it’s time.

Stunning! A work of art, just like the real one! Flies beautifully! I still think the Blackbird shouldn't have been retired. Satellites have regular orbits and can be predicted and hidden from - not so for an aircraft that can fly over at any time!

Wow, the craftmanship and airmanship to build and fly this model is wonderful. I can only imagine the expense. It must be in the tens of thousands of USD!!! Great model and video. Kudos to the pilot and cameraman!

Sled Drivers Major Brian Shul (R.I.P.) and his RSO Colonel Walter Watson would be proud to see this SR71 rc model. Congratulations to the builder(s) of this most amazing aircraft. The original from SkunkWorks designed and built in the '60's, still beautiful and futuristic today.

Wow. Usually when I see these SR-71's as RC's the flop around and seem on the verge of falling out of the sky. This thing is solid.

Truly an amazing feat to build and fly this incredible model aircraft! It was an experience I won't forget soon because it felt like I was there hearing and seeing all the moves. Thanks for sharing this video with the rest of us mere mortals. Cheers from Texas, USA!

THE BEST LOOKING model, anything else doesn't even come close to it.

Saw the plane while at Kadena AB, Okinawa. The blue shock trail while climbing was awesome. One time I was out catching some sun and I opened my eyes to see the SR-71 about 500 feet above me gliding in for a landing. I had no idea they landed without power - well at least that day there was no power. Airforce 72-76

I was mesmerized by the pilots skill and the beauty of that sleek bird's agility. Awesome video of an awesome work of passion.

In 1965, while TWA passengers flew leisurely to LA, the SR-71 Blackbird raced at over five times their speed, known only to Skunk Works. This supersonic marvel remained hidden from the public eye, redefining the limits of aviation with its clandestine speed.

I am totally amazed. I wasn’t aware this kind of model airplane was possible. I didn’t even know there were jet model airplanes. It would seem to make all other model airplanes in any competition in any part of the world obsolete. Is everyone else there thinking, “OK, let’s all pack up and go home?” Is there anything else worth watching?

This is a great tribute to the legendary aircraft, probably the best I’ve ever seen. I was born in 1964, the same year the SR71 made its maiden flight. If my mother told me that I arrived on earth one night as a baby carried by a giant black bird, I’d be very pleased indeed 😊

I'll bet the Skunkworks are really jealous, considering the fly-by-wire controls the real SR-71 has because it flies on the edge of instability to be stealthy and fast.

Something I don't hear about too often, but I would think it takes great skill to fly these from the ground. I would imagine it would take a lot of skill to land it as well.

I personally have watched “The Habu” SR-71 Blackbird fly in and out of a certain island in the far east. Go Air Force That part where the plane cuts and goes straight up is like the real thing too. Really brought back memories of Vietnam. And good memories too.

I don't believe aliens have ever visited us, nor will we ever visit them. Space is too vast. Yet the SR-71 is _the most alien man-made construct_ I've ever seen, it baffles the mind how this thing was being developed in the 1940s when steam engines were still widely in use.

That looks amazing. It's my favourite aircraft and this RC model really does it justice. The sound from its jet engines is awesome.

All I can say is Wow! Absolutely amazing! That bird had to be going a good ninety knots on its first low level pass at about 14 feet off the deck.

Awesome RC scale jet. I love the Blackbird, been fascinated with it my whole life. I own a much less complicated version, but still, comes in sat over 4 ft. long. Instead is powered by turbofan bladed LiPO battery fed engines. Great looking build, and flying in front of a crowd guys, always tough to do.

used to see the real ones pretty regularly when i was up on the family farm in Suffolk, had one go over us one day at about 500 ft,while out muck spreading ,it was heading into mildenhall ,so nice to see a rc version .

That plane is EPICLY COOL!!

In the early 90’s my neighbor, a Boeing engineer, built a glider like that about half the size. He had some kind of whistling mechanism that made it sound like a jet. He would fly it off Tiger mountain where the paragliders and hang gliders launched from. It was scary fast coming straight at you and at the last second he would flip it 90 degrees straight up, stall, dive, catch the wind current and thermal up and do it again and again.

That is freaking amazing, do you have ay Build videos? I saw a scale Concord that was incredible but the SR-71 is so much less stable airframe, I cannot believe you made it fly so well.
