@@Producelikeapro I worked in Sarm West studios for a few years in the early 90s, so your Steve Lipson stuff I've watched a few times over! That was my era🎶 I've also been lucky enough to visit a few of the big L.A studios (The Village & Henson) when my brother (craig armstrong, the scottish movie score guy) has been working in them.... All of your content is great, thx for all your hard graft🍻👊🎶

I have a small, in the box basement studio. I have learned from Warren that you can make good music with inexpensive gear. With that being said ,, I would like a really good Mac, a few good amps ( Vox, 5150, Fender ) a good Vocal mic and a good Instrument mic and finally some really good mic/instrument cables.

A 251, a helios desk and be the next owner of Jimmy Page's tower house but ill settle for a frank lloyd wright in the country where i can turn it up. That would a be good start along with the typical digital setup with standard outboard gear and mics today. I like an inspiring room. I curate experiences.

100% agree about Frank. My wife and I are building a house and studio from one of Frank Lloyd Wright's plans. After his death a bunch of smaller scale house plans were commissioned from his designs, and that's what we have. The thing about his architecture that cannot be replicated is that he designed for the specific location, and of course I don't have that location. I'm taking his plans and making it fit in a different environment. Its still pretty awesome though.

@@legacyShredder1 very cool, I grew up playing D&D at a friend's wright house and my parents brought us up in one designed by one of his apprentices. Wright always liked to have concerts and plays put on and his bigger places have great rooms for such. Wingspread's main room has a spot for a grand piano. An IR of that place would be nice.

One of the vibeyest studios in town! Kind of a funny logistical problem to have at a studio........keep building your own private room, then get kicked out of it because, business! 💁‍♂. That's crazy they still have the old $20,000 mouse for the console!. The last time I remember going to the Marquis was to deliver an exercycle for a certain old rockstar, who once bit the head off a bird, and liked to go craazzaaaayyyy!!. The grounds look pretty different from the late 80s.

@@Producelikeapro Yep, back in 89. It was one of those great big powered exercycles from the 80s. He greeted us at the door in purple tank top and skivies. He was really cool....offered us a cup of tea. The Marquis was definitely a SCENE back then! 😏

so , that's the morrison hotel, huh? fantastic. never knew. a bit overindulgent, i would say, but it would be nice to be here at least once - just for that terrace, the fish, and the palm trees.

As far as LA Hotels (or any major Hotel goes) it's pretty similar to others and definitely not particularly self indulgent! The Hampton Inn I'm currently staying in at the moment has even more amenities!

@@Producelikeapro oh, i'm sure it does, it's not the amenities, by themselves, that i was thinking about, i was thinking about the climate for making music. you come in to record a song, and you find yourself in this almost self-sufficient climate, removed from the outside world, in which you're already treated like a star, without having to do anything. i think it can mess with your head. i think it's the kind of atmosphere that leads to a band getting "fat", like david gilmour said. more luxury and distractions than music and urgency - mentally - that's what i meant. i was thinking, if i was there, how much music would i write. probably not much, but that's just me. maybe other people take that mood a lot more naturally.
