I think the real skill in this is understanding the joint, the joinery itself seems easy enough but relentless, and has to be so consistently accurate. I would love to be able to recreate this!

Jack Decker u just need to be creative and think outside the box to design a joint like this, so it is basically start from drafting and make model to test it before doing it on a bigger project. Interlocking joint isn’t something new, and the modern carpentry often choose the easiest way to build something in mass which made these interlocking joints became a loss techniques.
Vietnam or Thailand. it's appears to be a roof structure that is why the angles of the cross pieces. the rafters match into the angles. usually seen on small shrines.

You use a skill-saw like I do..... I see you are using a "Right-hand saw" as a "lefty"!!!😉😎 I use a "Left-hand saw", with myself being Right-handed!!! I was taught that a long time ago from a few generations of builders & craftsman in my family!!! It makes life MUCH EASIER!!!!
