He says " vakum paket "" He could make vacuum packet for you to take to Canada. 😊 It's not regular tea 😊Made old traditional way: tea leaves steamed on top and flavour slowly released. Steamer at the bottom. You could tell it's traditional way because the colour is bright not cloudy as with 5 sec tea bags dipped in boiled water. And that's Turkish Coffee, long before Espresso. Ottoman Empire opened the first cafes in Europe, in Vienna and Budapest - was part of Ottoman Empire - and Constantinople(capital of Ottoman Empire and Roman Empire)/Istanbul and introduced coffee to rest of Europe. But Ottoman Empire had discovered coffee from its African states. No you leave the thick bottom part. That's for turning the coffee cup over, let it cool down for someone to read your present and future. Steve! Your wife is right 😊Try in Turkey. Maybe you had Baklava in Canada. I'm sorry they keep those Baklava in the shop nearly a month, more like a rock and also made with margarine and peanuts. Sorry, that's not Baklava. Baklava is made daily, sold daily in Turkey. And it's flaky not like rock, and made with butter and nuts could be hazelnuts, pistachio, walnuts. Never margarine or peanuts. That Döner place you went in the market in Kadiköy, I think it's the cheapest Döner and Lokma takeaway shop in Turkey 😂If I go to Asia to visit my relatives, I always pop in that market to have coffee and cake across the church in the centre ( the one you saw after getting lokma😊The one wearing the hat is the staff has been there for years and years has a nearly 40 year old son, and the one without the hat is the owner) , do fresh fish, fruit and vegetables shopping then have a quick bite take away at that Döner place because they're always friendly and food is good for the price. Otherwise, to sit down I go to the one at the entrance, the old workers men restaurant because their quince with cream dessert is yummy, and also price is good for a lunch restaurant. Your wife seems having such a peaceful aura and also smart. Listen always your wife because women always know better 😉🧿

These "Blue-Eye" talismans/lucky charms (they protect against the "evil eye" of envious people) are definitely Turkish/turkic culture and not Greek. Historically, Turkic folks live from the Balkans/Eastern Europe to West China til the great wall of China, so they brought their culture with them to three continents. You can also see "Blue Eye" lucky charms in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Siberia, and in large regional parts of Russia, wherever Turk folks have lived for thousands of years. Greeks are culture thieves they steal and copy everything from the Turks, our food culture, our carpet motifs, our art works, as well as our lucky charms and other historical Turkish items.
@salihagokova5948
@salihagokova5948 Год назад
This is not baby blue, but turquoise, (turqu-oise = Turk color) the cultural and historical color of all Turkic tribes. The color "blue" in all variations is also a typical copy/imitation of the Greeks. The first banner (flag/Sanjak) of the Turks was a turquoise flag with a crescent and star, or other motifs depending on the tribe, but the basic color was always turquoise or light blue.

What a difference from when I was in Istanbul for a few days back in 1971. Back then the weather was grey and it gave the feeling of a post war espionage movie; there were no skyscrapers nor suspension bridge. However, found the people to be very friendly and hospitable. Thank you for sharing, it revived fond experiences.

6:40 How to make purple olives? Blueberry Purple Olive - Berceste Green olives collected from the branch are kept in pools for flavoring for 15 days. Green olives are sweetened by changing the juice to a certain extent. After sweetening the olives in these pools, they are rested in blueberry and beet juice to get their aroma.

Istanbul still has that crazy vibe of "organized chaos" that I overwhelmed by in 1999, when I visited the city. I was 19, I went there from Bucharest by train (a 22 hours sleeper train 1st class) as a reward from my family for taking the University exam :). Few things I remember as striking: the huge number of friendly cats (that's also true for summer resort cities like Antalya or Bodrum), the insane traffic, the guy at the coffee shop who wouldn't serve me another cup because "it is too strong for me", the friendly people, just by the edge of being too much, but not crossing that limit. And, of course the cold Efes on a street terrace. PS: after drinking the Turkish coffee there's an old custom in Romania to put the cup upside down and let the "zatz" (coffee mud) go on the cup walls. They make funny patterns in which an old lady can tell your fortune :))

I live in Manchester/England. I shared a house with two Romanians, one from a town famous for making mustard Tikice? His mother was a professional fortune teller, including reading the coffee suds. Women in my country do that coffee thing too, as a joke...Only some take it seriously, especially if it pertains to marriage 😂 I think I never ate dried, preserved meats as much while with them in my life. My sister visited Romania during Chawchisku times...She said it was one of the most beautiful, underrated country in the World. May it prosper and be blessed.

But my favourite restaurant was Meşhur Sariyer Börekçisi cafe. I would go there everyday for breakfast. I was so addicted to their Borek. I also remembered going to non Turkish restaurants. Near the Çapa-Şhremını tram station, there's an Indonesian restaurant called Warung Nusantara. The food was delicious. Tastes the same as what you can get in Indonesia. Definitely will remind Ivana of home. There's also an Uyghur Restaurant (Western Chinese food) in the area (Çapa-Şhremını) as well, if you're interested in trying something different. The restaurant is called Köklem Uygur Restaurant.

Some olive lessons for you 😂We have Hazelnut farms on The Black Sea (I'm Laz ) Possibly you think Hazelnuts are brown. Hazelnuts are green. So are the pistachioes. And olives 😊Those colours develop in different stages of olives because olives aren't like green apples that one picks and eats or edible straight away. Olives need to be brined and cured first. Or sun dried (The Black Sea is not suitable place for growing and the sun drying but the Aegean people would know the exact process) Green Purple Brown Black

Im a Turkish living abroad for 20 years now. I hate to break it to you, but Turkish street food was more delicious back like 10 years ago. As time progressed and economy tanked, I notice a degradation in my home country year by year. Smaller portions, lesser quality ingredients, cut corners in processing etc. I think this all started in 2012 or so. I dont know if its just me getting old and grumpy though lol. Istanbul is a magical city. It has history dating back 1000s of years. You can feel the enigma looking at cold bosphorus waters and hear the thoughts of ancient byzantines etc who looked at the same waters 1000 years ago.

Hello!👋 You can drink pickle juice has a natural electrolyte drink. I get my pickles without added sugar and always save the juice, keep it in the fridge. Contains sodium, magnesium, potasium, probiotics. Take a shot of pickle juice to rehydrate after workout, on hot days, if you feel light headed or have muscle cramps, also good as a hangover cure, helps you replenish your electrolytes. 😊

Actually many tourists come by cruise ships so it is not a stupid question. There is a cruise ship port nearby.

Hi again , Steve and Ivana . So long time no chat , isn´t it ? 🙃 You guys know me , curious to the extreme . So i went on a research because of the coloured olives and what i learned is that the color of an olive is an indication of its ripeness. Green olives ripen and become black olives. Or rather, they transform from green to light brown, to a vibrant red and purple, to the deepest, darkest black. In general, the darker the olive, the riper it was when it was plucked from the tree. kisses , till tomorrow.
