WOW, I had an amazing afternoon of bait and lure fishing at Lake Buffalo in August, catching 3 different species and even catching a couple of fish big enough for me to bring home for a feed. The kind of stuff that dreams are made of when it comes to winter fishing.

Haha No definitely didn't consider it. But I should have. 🤣🤣🤣 I couldn't say this in the hand warmer review in case anybody saw it, but I filmed the review on the condition that I could get one each for My mum,.my wife and both daughters for their birthdays, as well as keep mine. Haha 😂😂 Lauretta hasn't got hers yet but everyone else has. They all have birthdays at this time of the year.

You mentioned strikes whilst the bait is sinking. I retrieve a bit then pause and drop the tip of the rod about 30cm. Then as I restart the retrieve I raise the tip of the rod back up that 30cm. Most strikes occur during that pause/drop.

Yes... Spot on. I agree. They always seem to hit on the pause, and that is the same when I use blades as well.

@@robbiefishing I use the same retrieve when bait fishing and sometimes that pause and drop will trigger a strike on a live bait that otherwise went undisturbed. At least that's universal between the hemispheres.

Thanks so much mate. I think that has a lot to do with the angle of the sun. The line always stands out better when I'm facing a sunrise or sunset, especially if there's a dark background.

Thanks mate. Catching them it is 50/50. I love them both for different reasons. When it comes to eating them I prefer redfin. I don't mind trout, but redfin are nicer.

Thanks mate. I'm pretty sure it is a Silsar Poeertip. It is 106cm long, so about 3 feet. Haha From memory it is a 1000 size Shimano Nexave reel. Or something similar. I'm not near it now so can't check sorry.

Always a good day wĥen you catch something good , while fishing near pier 7 next to maritime services Sydney harbour I hooked up , as I wound it in , it kept dragging line back out , after a 15 minute battle it surfaced , still dragging back line , i eventually got it on the pier, It was a 7 foot Rex hunt ugly stick and reel , I took it home cleaned the barnacles off and its now a favourite rod to use , mainly because its got a story behind it ..

Hi mate, you can release redfin back into the water in which you caught them in both Victoria and NSW. It is illegal in both states to be in possession of live redfin though. You have to either release it, or kill it. That is river and lakes.

If it was a sinking one I would have, as long as it sank fast enough because it was quite deep.

That's amazing. I find it bizarre watching fishing videos from the northern hemisphere for the same reason. 100f is about 37C. We get up to 45 here is summer sometimes. Not for the last two years thankfully. On a regular summer we usually get a couple of days around 42 or 43 degrees. While that may sound hot, it was 55c on Death Valley recently. WOW

Had my last cray rah today. All done for 2023. Got 2 biggies. One had berries and one didn’t. Everyone would say that the one with no eggs would be a male but it was a big Jenny with NO EGGS (genetic pore on 3rd leg bottom to top). In the end, she was 14cm and back into the water (other one was 16cm quick photo and back in). Also saw a beautiful White breasted sea eagle. It was sooo amazing!!!! Got 24 Reddies to come home to top it off. Awesome end to the final session.

WOW Well done, that is unreal. Sea Eagles are such amazing birds. 16cm is a massive crayfish..WOW I've seen photos of them that size but I've never caught them that big.

Hi mate, I just use small hooks..not time. I think they're around the size 4, 7 or 8. I don't like to go too much smaller or bigger.
