The glued areas will be just as strong as the wood. In some cases if the wood grain is a straight grain then there’s more chance of the actual wood breaking over the glued area.
The aesthetic design and end result look really nice, but this is a comically poorly designed table that won’t last long at all - *especially* outdoors among the elements. That table top has no real supporting structure at all - just a bunch of loosely glued together squares that will start to come apart with just a few weeks in the sun. The tiny little pin nails holding the base together will gradually start to creep due to changes in temperature and humidity - causing the entire structure to fall apart and/or require constant maintenance. It’s a shame because the design is cool and could easily be turned into a long lasting quality piece with just a few minor adjustments to construction.
